Fleur Harkyn Mysteries #3

Oracle of Tempests: A Fleur Harkyn Mystery

Rate this book
A mysterious tattoo
A peculiar puzzle box
A foe no one anticipated

Fleur Harkyn has hit a dead end, but instead of screaming—that’s what old Fleur would do—she’s asking for help to find the last three relics needed to rebuild the sheath and save the Great Tree. Unfortunately, that means reconnecting with the man who exiled her twenty-two years ago.

Lenora Khade doesn’t regret her choice to return to the Inbetween—not that there’s time for reflection—she’s too busy helping the Soulkeeper with the Tree, and it’s not going well. Only one soul can aid the Tree, and no one has seen the Tree Mother in a thousand years.

When Fleur’s fingerprints are found on the body of an unknown man floating in Lake Union, the hunt for the enigmatic relics takes a hard turn, leading her and Lenora through the stormy histories of the second realm to the creature who started it all and a secret that will change everything.

If Fleur can just stay out of jail.

The Fleur Harkyn trilogy has taken over as one of my favourite ever fantasy series. The characters have such a special place in my heart. These books were genuinely incredible to read.

Each book since the first just got better and better, The Oracle Of Tempests was no different. I was so excited to get stuck into this, I couldn’t wait to see what conclusion it came to. As the plot was a continuation rather than something entirely new, it wasn’t hard to capture my full attention. The magic system throughout these books has been so interesting to learn about. I love how different all of the magical creatures are. I love that they’re brought into a typically mundane world, it makes the magic feel so much more special. Like I said in my review for the second book, there was so much story left to tell. Krista couldn’t have written this final book any better, in my opinion. I could also still go on to read spin off after spin off about different characters.

I loved these characters so much. They all had their own character developments. Fleur and Lenora are the main characters and the love I have for them both is immense. They have such depth, it’s been really beautiful to read. Found family is one of my favourite tropes, it has developed through each book and their relationships have only gotten stronger. Don’t get me started on Theda, I think she had an absolutely beautiful journey and I couldn’t have come up with a better development than the one she got. The sapphic relationship is particularly beautiful through this series, it felt so real and genuine. Fleur & Theda were everything to each other and everything to me. I really hope to see more of them in Krista’s future works.

I will always recommend this series, it’s so underrated and so brilliant. I love how plot based they are, they’re genuinely so interesting and exciting to read. I felt this had a really satisfying ending, that tied up any loose ends. Please, I am begging you to give these books a chance.

I really enjoyed the previous two books in the Fleur Harkyn Mysteries series, it had that element that I was expecting from this universe and how the paranormal mystery element was used. I was hooked from the first page and thought the overall feel worked with the previous two books. I was engaged with the characters and how their story was told in this universe. Krista Fazendin has a strong writing style and thought the overall concept was so well done and enjoyed the feel of this.

A lot of story in not nearly enough book. This was an enjoyable journey. Great characters. Great world building. Wonderful storyline. I felt the authors labor of love in this last chapter of the adventure. If you love mystical fantasy with goddesses and sad happy endings with a new hope also. This book will delight you.
