Have you ever been in a situation where you and your stalking neighbor have to protect a friendly vampire from a murderous vampire? And also they have to feed the vampire, dress the vampire, wash the vampire, and make sure the vampire gets plenty of exercise like a new puppy. Just imagine taking care of an over 1,000 year old vampire that is so far mentally in the past that they are amused just by turning a T.V. on and off.
It all started when a mean vampire named Vennard, a tall buff vampire with devilish eyes, locked Eugene (the vampire) in a chest and sent him to New Orleans. 150 years later a young boy teenager, about 13, opened up the chest to find a scrunched up vampire in a tiny chest. The man got out and had to prove that he was a vampire. Then when the snooping neighbor (Alison, who is a red headed, freckly little 13 years old) found out, he only had two options, let her help out or get in trouble. So obviously he let her join because he could not handle the thought of the “mom look”. The “mom look” is when they stare straight into your soul and kill you slowly from the inside out.
Later on in the story, Vennard (the bad dude) finds where they are staying (all because Alison sends out vampire requests and Vennard received it) and tries to kill all of them. They hide in the cemetery, because they saw Vennard, and tried to stall until they came up with an idea. They somehow end up being cornered inside a boat, but get saved by Carlotta, Eugene’s girlfriend. They all survive, but Vennard (who was locked in the cabinet on the boat) was nowhere to be found.
The author did a very good job in writing this book. They include good humor now and then to spice the writing up and make the reading interesting. Also good vocabulary words are used to make this more of a young adult book rather than a children’s book. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a well written, good book. The author makes the characters very likable. An example of that is how Jeff is really humorous by calling Alison “Batears”. Also how Alison brings up the “mom look” to scare Jeff into letting her help.
This book is not too long, so it would be perfect for taking it on a vacation with you. This is the kind of book that you would read on your spare time and take your time with. This book is not like other books, because in the book you will never get bored or get lost in the plot. This is one of the best books that I have ever read. I would definitely recommend it for any one.

I read this to my 6 yr old daughter, who loves the idea of monsters, but scares easily. This book did pretty well by us - she laughed at the silly parts and cringed at the spooky ones.

So there are two kinds of vampires, and Jeff finds the good one in his closet locked into a trunk by the vampire's evil cousin. Eugene eats a lot and sleeps in the bathtub while the story proceeds.
