This text is part of a series of volumes covering objects inscribed in the province of Britain during the Roman period. Together, the volumes aim to cover all materials on which it is possible to inscribe or carve, such as stone, ceramics, wood, gems and base and precious metals. This particular volume provides an index of places where inscriptions can be found to accompany Volume I of "The Roman Inscriptions of Britain". It is divided into 16 major reference groups which comprise some 61 separate indexes.
