Brigantia is a fantasy comic book series about a pagan goddess from ancient, pre-Roman Britain, thrust into the modern day. Dropped into modern London and cut off from the tribe that worshipped her, Brigantia must enlist the aid of new followers to defeat her nefarious brother Veteris, who has spent centuries feasting on the fear of Britain's people and gathering his strength.
In this second volume of the story, Brigantia has returned to the Otherworld she calls home - only to find it broken and burning, devastated by Veteris and his Ghost Dogs and now ruled by the foul Balor. As Brigantia tries to draw together the survivors of her pantheon alongside her sister Brigid and mount a resistance against these forces of darkness, her human followers Anna and Pravin face their own challenges in the mortal realm - captured by Veteris' forces and imprisoned in a room sealed against divine interference. As the longest night settles around them, all hope seems lost - can the daughters of Nerthus overcome their foe and bring back the sun?
This trade paperback collects issues #4-6 of Brigantia, and includes additional back matter including a pin-up gallery, concept sketches and process pages as well as a foreword by superstar writer Kieron Gillen (X-Men, Wicked & The Divine, DIE).
Praise for
Hamish Steele [Deadendia, Pantheon]: "A true hero for today's Britain... relatable, yet inspiring."
Michael Molcher [I Am The Law]: "A story of our time - about immigration, loyalty, hope, belonging, and the insipid spectre of nationalism."
Asa Wheatley [Sagas of the Shield Maiden]: "Brigantia perfectly intertwines the hope and wonder of Superheroes with the mythic nature of the Gods."
