This is an MM ex-surrogate romance with a bought marriage contract theme.
------------------
After being left by his fiancé, omega Day Sanderson (34) lost all hope of ever being loved again. In desperation, he became a surrogate, spending years giving birth to eight children.

Feeling used and deeply depressed, Day decides to give matchmaking services one last try. That’s when he meets Storm Nolan, a man who takes his matchmaking job very seriously. Storm convinces Day to attend a controversial marital contract open fair, where he’s forced to sit in a glass booth, being observed and assessed by alphas.

A man (26) approaches him, but something feels off. He looks more like a beta than an alpha, though he insists otherwise. He also owns a farm. Day doesn’t like him—he doesn’t want some weirdo—but desperation forces his hand. Needing the money from the marriage contract, Day lays down strict terms: no marital duties unless he consents to them. In fact, he can spend his days doing nothing at all, simply living in his new husband’s house and collecting his monthly allowance without any obligations.

Day's last surrogacy experience was a total disaster, leaving him unwilling to risk intimacy or closeness again. He’s hurt, angry, and resentful—after ten years of being a surrogate, he feels exhausted and lonely, like his body was just a tool for carrying other people’s children.

Can this unlikely pair find a chance at love?
Or is there more to this surrogate omega’s story than meets the eye?

Now, that was something different! :)
A treat for people who like tropes similar to = arranged marriages!

This book starts with an interesting description of a fair where marriage contracts are sold!
People sit in glass booths (omegas, betas, alphas) and wait for their contracts to be bought, but the contracts are not at all slave-like. Instead, they are business agreements with rules that can be very profitable for the contractees and not necessarily advantageous for the buyers!

The main character, Day, is forced by an employee of the matchmaking agency, Storm Nolan, to participate in the fair. This is his only chance to receive penalty money from Fate's Choice for not fulfilling their end of the deal by matching him with a good new husband.

And this is where it all starts. :) We get a sneak peek of other so-called difficult clients sitting in nearby booths, but the main focus is on Day, who has spent years as a surrogate. Now he wants love and family of his own.
Day is angry about being forced to participate in the fair and doesn’t hesitate to show it! He’s snarky, unpleasant, and even smokes while sitting in the booth, happily discouraging people from buying his contract!

Now, here comes Jan—a shy, insecure alpha who... is too short to be an alpha. In Eden's world, all alphas are very tall, usually above 6'5", and Jan is somewhere around 5'11"(I think), similar in height to betas. He is constantly misgendered as a beta, which has pushed him into deep low self-esteem, despite being a very handsome and well-built guy overall. He owns an isolated fruit tree nursery/plantation/farm and lives there alone with his dogs and cats.

Pushed by his nagging uncle, Jan decides to attend the marriage contract fair. There, he notices a strange guy smoking in his booth and takes an interest in him. But... he looks like a beta, and so the problems begin. Facing yet another potential rejection, Jan almost gives up, but our good friend Storm steps in to make sure Jan has a proper chance.

The rest of the story is emotional. At first, I thought it would just be about Day and Jan getting to know each other, with nothing more going on, but suddenly, Day reveals a secret that shakes Jan to the core. Despite being underestimated by everyone and barely considered an alpha, Jan decides to take very alpha-like actions and do the right thing for Day.

It’s incredibly satisfying and very different from Eden's other books, where there’s often a physical confrontation between a main character and a . Here, the resolution is much more elaborate but also absolutely crushing. I have rarely seen such a well-done revenge plan—so brutal and crafty!

Jan really shows himself as a true, good, and righteous alpha. The way he treats Day is just wonderful—so warm, tender, and understanding. He’s such a sweetheart, and Jan is officially one of my favorite protagonists in Eden's books. I hope to read more about him and Day in future cameos.

The ending is so romantic and sweet, and I must say, Eden wove this story to perfection. Very nice job.

This is an ARC review, but 100% honest.

I don’t usually read books about surrogates, there just aren’t many out there, so I was curious about this one. The story is about a former surrogate who’s hoping for love and a fresh start, but instead, he gets thrown into this humiliating spectacle: a marital contract fair where he’s literally on display, like a slave being bought. It definitely hit me in the feels. The image of omegas sitting in their booths, being selected based on their looks and pheromonal scent, was so intense and hard to forget. Weirdly enough, I kind of liked the concept, probably because I’ve never read anything like it before. Even though the contracts were supposed to protect the omegas’ rights and safety, the whole thing still felt so stressful. I couldn’t help feeling bad for Star and Salt, seeing them in that situation was eerie. It honestly made me want to read their stories even more.

The main story kept me interested. Being thrown into a relationship with almost no info about your new spouse, that’s emotional and nerve-racking. The secrets coming out slowly added so much suspense, and what was revealed - wow. What happened to D. broke my heart, but I loved how Jan handled it all. I was rooting for that brutal ending for F. the whole time!
This book dragged me through so many emotions, simply because it's full of them! But what I really love about this author is how they wrap up their stories. Everything feels tied up by the end, and it’s so satisfying. You feel like you’ve gotten the complete picture.

This was a great read, even if some of the tropes are pretty controversial.

5***** from me!

❤️Marriage contract❤️ bought at a fair + ex-surrogate tropes—can it even get better?

Little me is a big-huge fan of the trope of not knowing each other and being suddenly in a relationship.
I love how awkward things are at the beginning, and Eden captured it all perfectly. Even the small details—when to touch his hand, if he can touch his face to clear a smudge, if he can hug him, the first kiss, slow opening up to intimacy, hesitant and full of worries.

I love this slow evolution of relationships of people living under one roof, knowing they’ll have sex at some point but not knowing how it will happen. I loved this journey, and every step was shown here, which made this book super satisfying for me.

Jan is my fav-char! He was so different from Eden's previous, much cockier, and more arrogant alpha characters. He was a cinnamon roll—sweet, loving, and perfect for Day. He really fought his own instincts and desires to keep Day comfortable, and his struggle with wanting more but holding back was captured perfectly!

The whole bringing down a powerful political figure plot might resonate with an American audience—it’s a treat for US liberal readers for sure. I liked how it was done, handled with kinda velvet gloves but quietly tricky and really... merciless! It was an almost shocking contrast between how Jan treated Day and how he carried out the revenge.

Also I kinda loved his strange alpha alliance with Nico—it felt so good! Two men doing the honorable thing.

What I need to mention is how well Eden does plot clips (as I call it).
There are some nuances that only weird people like me notice. For example, Jan says at the very beginning:

Could someone, just once in my life, look at me and say:
Yes, I choose you, Jan. Yes, you're the one I want, without any ‘buts’.

And this is addressed close to the end:

"I. Choose. You. Exactly as you are. [...]
"But—"
"There’s no ‘but’."

There are a few clips like this that start at the beginning and are addressed later in the story. For example, the motif with the swan mating for life or the whole pendant thing and Day's dream about parenthood. It was such a pleasant feeling knowing that Eden controls the narrative and gives us closure for every thread in the book.

I also loved this quote:
...my veins filling with the intense desire to lie on top of his body, push into him, and possess him, not just physically but also mentally, to find myself inside Day, in that garden of shadows, sadness, and pain...

This book also has some seriously 🔥hot heat scenes! 😋☺️🔥

The story also made me super intrigued about Star and Salt! I can already see Star’s story is already on Amazon to buy, and I hope I can get it as quickly as possible :D

I’m also kinda waiting for Blue Lowen’s story. He got my attention in Invade Me and Heat Me. Eden, can you please do it quickly and write it too? :D

I almost wish the book didn’t end at all—I’d love to read some bonus chapters for this story.
I admire how different Eden's books are from each other, and this was such a flavorsome piece!

This is an advanced ARC review.

My rating 4.5

Romantic and emotional! It has a purchased contract for marriage.
I got to like both characters, Day and Jan, especially Jan, he reminded me a bit of Rain, from Eden's Omegaverse series. I love the fated mate trope, but I was happy that the magic between then didn't resolve all things for them. Jan stayed as he was, and it was a good move, I wouldn't want an overly sweet solution lets-fix-it-all to his problems. My uncle has a fruit tree nursery, so I was just happy to find a rep for this in a book, that was a nice touch :D

It's an interesting story with an original storytelling. After the fair, most of it takes place on a farm, and while the characters only leave it briefly, so many of the things that happen there have a huge impact on the world outside the farm. Kind of like looking at everything under a magnifying glass.
I really liked the dialogues—they were stronger than in the author’s previous books and grabbed my attention. In the past, I sometimes felt the dialogue part in their stories was a bit stiff, but I’ve noticed an upgrade both in "Invade Me" and in this book. The style feels more natural now. There’s still room for improvement, but it’s definitely better than before. Maybe in a few books, it’ll hit perfection. 😊
The revenge theme is back! We saw it in "Vigilante" as well, but it was handled differently there. In this book, it’s more of a power game, sneaky and strategic, whereas "Vigilante" had more direct confrontations. I also enjoyed how the main character’s insecurities weren’t just brushed aside or magically resolved right away. Instead, they kept coming up and were only fully addressed toward the end, which made the story feel more realistic.

Why am I docking points?
In some of the earlier books, I felt the world was a bit too limited—just a few people and one location. Then the author improved that, creating a broader world in the next books, with more depth. But here, the focus is back on the main couple, and the other characters are more in the background. I personally like when there’s a wider scope and more characters, rather than just a tight focus on two people. It feels less claustrophobic that way.

That said, I really appreciated the "evil politician" subplot—it was almost lovely!

My rating: 4.25 ✨

Another beautiful story in this fantastic saga. Unique world building, super interesting plot as usual and vulnerable characters, I loved Day and Jan. I was hooked from the first page and there was no boring moment, I read this in a less than a day which is a rare event lately. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

This was a good story. I loved the different take on the classic ABO world. How it was different but still had some same qualities. I enjoyed watching their relationship evolve. I will say that D kinda put me off in the beginning with his treatment of J. (There’s a reason I don’t read enemies to lovers) even with the things he was going thru that wasn’t an excuse in my eyes. I did end up liking him more as J like him more. Speaking of J. He is freaking amazing. Patient and kind. I loved his support tonD even when D was being horrible to him. The ending was great and I hope to find out more from the few others we met.

My only gripe is needing a TW for the constant use of the word Plantation. I’m not sure where this author is from so I understand different words have different context. But if you are wanting a variety of people to read your work, that is something you should look into. If not well then you are telling on yourself and I won’t read your books.

TW: MC living on a Plantation (make sure you check out the rest of the tws also)

For future me:
No cheating or sharing
Relationship before smexy
Dual POV
Diversity lacking
Strict roles

Another fantastic book. Honestly, I love all the books by this author. The emotions, the dept, the characters, it's all so well written, I feel what they feel.
Day had been through something horrible and been used for his money for years. He deserved a quiet and loved life.
Jan was the sweetest guy, he had been through life always feeling and knowing he was lacking, and that's a horrible feeling. He deserved the freaking world, just like Day.
They were just perfect for each other, they got their HEA and I was smiling for them

Initially, I fell in love with Jan, and my heart ached for Day. I value the chemistry they share and their genuine understanding of each other. I loved the lack of unnecessary drama. This book has surely become one of my favorites.

Well this was a pleasant surprise! I've been meaning to read Eden's work for ages and finally...did. Wish it hadn't taken me so long to get to it.

Do mind the TWs, especially if rape/assault is a trigger for you (it's in the past but is described on page).

This is an idealistic story, in a good way for me. It's got one of my favorite tropes ever, a fated-mates pairing--here termed True Mates--and delivers a satisfying romance between one hurting, cynical omega and one unique alpha, both of whom have given up on finding a romantic partner.

There's a mystical matchmaker (Storm) with special senses who runs a marriage-contract fair that's juicy and somewhat scandalous, like a meat market for finding a husband. MC omega Day reluctantly agrees to take part in the fair at Storm's urging. MC alpha Jan, a farmer with a health issue in his past that's made him much shorter than alphas typically are, has given up on love because he's tired of being dismissed and disdained as a beta due to his shorter stature. But Storm sees a spark when Day and Jan come into proximity...

It's a light and dark fairy tale from there, with Jan offering for Day's marriage contract, and Day begrudgingly agreeing but with many conditions. Jan grasps this one last spark of hope that maybe, maybe this can work... Day's on pheromone blockers, and they don't know what kind of match they are (I love this author's world of different levels of mates--Half Mates, High Mates, True Mates...the dynamic reminded me a bit of another series I really enjoyed in the matching of mates, the "Perfect Match" multi-author series, though this is a very different situation). Seeing Day's sense of hopelessness subside through Jan's hopeful support and respect was so lovely to read.

Day has trauma in his past, from being a surrogate multiple times, including surviving a rapist who decimated his sense of self and security, and he's been near drowning ever since. Before becoming a surrogate, he lost his first love/fiance when that fiance met a High Mate match. But in Jan, he finds safety and someone willing to fight for him, and fight Jan does. While it seemed a bit too good to be true, this is a story that includes a bad person coming to justice, and I cheered for that. I do love ideality in my romance. The story includes some telenovela-level confrontations with peripheral characters. I also enjoyed that the author brought in Day's former fiance (Nico) in a way that showed what a good person he was, rather than demonizing him, and I also was glad not to be forced to see Day and Jan become buddies with the guy. The interactions with and mentions of Nico were appropriate and moving without encroaching on the romance, and I appreciated that.

I'd love to see this author work with a line editor to smooth out all the ! issues (which give the story a rather immature tone) and polish her prose, because it could be even stronger, but I thoroughly enjoyed the story telling and will absolutely seek out more stories in this world.

I did wonder if the True Mates connection helping to heal Day's mental trauma was perhaps too much--I am not an expert on surviving SA, but, that got a bit red-flaggy for me. But I read it in the spirit of ideality that I think it was intended, and not as a "love can cure your trauma" mentality. Their intimacy was lovely and steamy, and I was so glad these two found each other.

HEA, fated-mates alpha-omega pairing, marriage fair and contract, hurt-comfort read. No cheating or others in any way. Past trauma dealt with, baddies brought to justice. Recommended.

I don't have issues with sarcastic or jaded characters but MY GOD, Day was absolutely insufferable and inlikeable from the very first moment and it only kept getting worse. I struggled so badly even getting through the first chapter. He literally reads like the most obnoxious, annoying, edgy teenager. Example:

"I was hardly a mystery: a leftover omega in my thirties with a weird past and a grumpy personality—not exactly a dream package. He probably pitied me, seeing that bitterness had basically become my defining character trait."

And this is constant. Constantly beating you over the head with how bitter he is, how annoyed he is at everything in his life, at his situation, rude to everyone. It's fucking tiring from the first paragraph. He's so over everything and "so much better than everyone and the world suckssss!" Very much giving a perpetual teenager. Not a 30 year old!

Jan wasn't much better. Literally a small man syndrome. Am I supposed to feel sympathetic to this alpha moaning about "missing a few inches in height"? And the "misgendering" warning being about THIS (him being mistaken for beta because of his SLIGHTLY SMALLER height) instead of...I dunno... ACTUAL misgendering, is ridiculous.

"I hate feeling dysphoric when people misgender me. I hate having to explain myself over and over. It hurts—the more it happens. I feel stuck, helpless. I know it’s irrational, but that's how it feels. Ten years of that… did damage."

We are seriously, ACTUALLY, comparing MISGENDERING and DYSPHORIA to being mistaken for beta??? This was so fucking stupid.

There is soooo much saying instead of showing. EVERYTHING is just straight-up explained by the character. Characters just info-dump worldbuilding in the most boring, basic way. Did any effort actually go into making this book??? It's so damn uncreative and boring to read something like that.

Another issue - this book suffers from the incredibly annoying "constantly using names" writing fail. You know how you sometimes read two characters having a conversation and they CONSTANTLY call each other by their names, to the point you just have to stop and wonder how unrealistic that is? Well, good luck with the second chapter. Jan calls his Uncle Uncle about every other sentence, and the same goes for his Uncle. I recommend the author actually try reading the conversation out loud and seeing how unnatural it feels. No one talks like that.

Also! The amount of exclamation marks! In this book! Was there even an editor?! ! !

This was just written so juvenile and amateurishly. I couldn't get through it.

Heavy

This book so far is a heavy one. Storm Nolan from book one is at it again with his match making skills. Day had signed a contract with the mating company Fates Choice. 6 months later and still no match and time is running out. If he is not mated soon the company has to pay him a lot of money. Through an undisclosed option, Day has no choice but to accept being at the Mating Fair for two days. On the second day in walks Jan. After walking through the halls he spots Day and instantly he has a reaction. Because of Jan’s shortness in height Day thinks Jan is a beta. Storm with the help of his mate Damien convince Jan to come back and talk to Day. Day agrees and when Jan tells him the story of his height Jan feels like a butt. They agree on an Eternal contract and from there Jan helps Day heal. This story was so well written. Eden West made this book where you feel what the MC’s are going through. Being able to relate with a character or characters is what makes a book special. And Eden West made this happen.
*Trigger warnings: Depression from surrogacy, mention of being rape at three different times, low self esteem with both MCs, rejection, hurt, fear and more.
Total 5 star ⭐️ worthy. 💜

It always makes me giddy to start reading a new book and as soon as I start I can feel the openings of a promising book where the author writes so well that I even like the things I don’t like.

I’m not a huge fan of the omega/alpha/beta type of stories and I’m also not a fan of fated mates stories where the Insta love happens straightaway so it’s always a good day for me when I find an author who can change my mind and gets me hooked into the story.

The introduction to Jan was what really got me into this book. Day was ok but it was Jan that really sold me. However, the moment Jan and Day met, their interaction was so magnetic that I totally couldn’t wait to see how their relationship played out.

The emotional charge between the MCs was at a really lovely level throughout the book and the subtle tension and attraction worked well in this story. The background storyline didn’t distract too much from the relationship storyline and at the end I was looking forward to Jared’s book (July 2026 is so far away!)

Love love LOVED Unbreak Me. The idea of an Omega surrogate who gave up on his HEA intrigued me but I honestly love the idea of designation misgendering being brought into the OV world. I also love how Eden handled Day’s trauma in such a realistic way, representing a lot of what SA survivors go through. I also love how they show that while trauma can’t be erased, it can ease and you can heal from it. Jan and Day are simply adorable and my heart broke for them many times. I’m so happy they got their HEA, they deserve it.
