Jervonte Westley (Von) and Trinity Coleman have been together since they were teenagers. He immediately fell in love with her striking beauty and big curly hair. If only Trinity knew he would be a thorn in her side for many years. After tragedy strikes on her 18th birthday, Von would grow to disrespect her in every way possible. As young adults in their twenties, they have become quite a power couple. However, Trinity fantasizes about Jatavion Mathews (Ja), a new love interest who can match Von’s energy. He might be the man she needs to leave Von for good. Ja had never been in love and vowed never to settle down. Von has some detrimental secrets that he wants to keep hidden. Eventually, those secrets start to unravel because what you do in the dark will eventually come to light. Ruining so many lives comes at a cost! Trinity disappeared, and Von doesn’t know where she went or who could've taken her. He will move mountains to get his childhood sweetheart back. Who will win the tug-of-war over Trinity? But wait, could Trinity’s heart belong to someone else the entire time? Who knows when it comes to these high-caliber men? Trinity, that’s who! Title:To Steal, Kill & Destroy In This Game Called Love: A Urban Erotica Tale
Author:Jen Turner
Genre: Urban Erotica

Honestly, where do I even start? I picked up this book thinking it was a bit slow at first, but I’m so glad I kept reading! The story revolves around Trinity and Jervonte (Von), set in a gritty urban backdrop.

Trinity moves from the suburbs to the hood, and that’s where she meets Reese. She falls for him right away. But here’s the twist—Von has his eyes on Trinity too. The age gap with Reese makes her feel like he sees her as just a kid, so when Von leaves his girlfriend Kyra for her, she decides to give him a chance.

As their relationship unfolds, Von is hiding some serious secrets. But after a tragic event, he can’t keep things under wraps any longer. Trinity senses something isn’t right, but she brushes it off until she can’t ignore it anymore. By then, she finds herself stuck—literally—and too scared to leave until she’s pushed to.

Enter Mr. Jatavion Matthews, the man with a plan. He’s not sure what it is about Trinity that draws him in, but he feels compelled to help her. Little does she know, there’s more to Ja than meets the eye, and Von is not ready for what’s coming. There’s so much happening, and trust me, you’ll want to read this one to catch all the drama!

Rating: Stylish/Childish - Stylish

Author Jen Turner did an amazing job of storytelling. She was able to elaborate on things that at first may not seem to matter but as you continue to read it comes full circle. For this to be her debut novel it was written like a well seasoned author. There were a few grammatical and spelling errors. A few misplaced names but none of they took away from the captivating storyline that was being told.

Rating: Say it Loud/Hush lil Baby - Impact: Say It Loud

Baby, let me tell you, this book hits differently. It had a few triggers, and I usually don’t get triggered easily. But the way domestic violence was portrayed really struck a nerve with me. It didn’t make me want to stop reading, but it definitely made me feel some type of way—enough to really dislike Von at times.

What I took away from this story is a crucial lesson: when someone tells you to walk away from a dangerous situation and you see the warning signs yourself, just leave. Don’t cling to the hope that love will somehow change anything because, spoiler alert, it won’t. This book is an eye-opener, reminding us all to trust our instincts and prioritize our safety. Definitely a must-read if you're ready for some raw and real moments!

Eggplant meter: 🍆 🍆 🍆 🍆

Verdict:
I would definitely recommend this book! It kept me engaged the whole way through. I will say there were a few moments that left me scratching my head, like the relationship between Desmond and Jean Whitefield. I get her purpose in the story, but I’m not quite sure why their actual relationship was so important.

Aside from that, I am eagerly waiting to hear more about Kyra and Alejandro, but overall, the rest of the story wrapped up perfectly! This book is packed with so much—friends turning into enemies, family drama, and tons of tension. It’s a wild ride full of twists that will keep you hooked from start to finish. If you love stories dealing with real-life struggles and intense crushes, you definitely need to check this one out! Fantastic job, Author Jen—you really nailed it with this one!

Denise’s Review

This is a good read with a good storyline. Some of the events that occur in this book are also found in the real world. This book follows a young girl whose parents loved each other and loved her; they provided a stable two-parent home for her with plenty of love. Tragedy struck, and her parents were murdered. Follow Trinity, Von, Reese, Kyra, Zee, and Jatavion through this book. This book follows a young woman who chooses the wrong man to love. This man is obsessed with a woman. He does any and everything so she will not leave him. This book is about domestic violence throughout it and will deter some from reading it. Von is obsessed and possessive of Trinity. Von is on medication for mental issues, but when his father dies, he stops taking his medicine. Read the book to see what extremes Von will go through so that Trinity will never leave him. Each character plays a part in Trinity’s life. Read the book to see how each character helps or hurts Trinity. Find out who she falls in love with and what happens. Read to find out who lives and who dies in the book. This book is full of suspense, and once you begin reading, you will not want to put it down.

This book is nothing short of a masterpiece. From the very first page, it pulls you in that it feels as though you are walking alongside the characters, experiencing their fears, hopes, and struggles firsthand. The author’s ability to paint vivid images with words that curate scenes so detailed and atmospheric that they leap off the page and play out in your mind like a movie.

The characters are the heart of this thriller. Each one is meticulously developed, with complex emotions and motivations that make them feel real and relatable. Whether you’re rooting for the protagonist or grappling with the actions of the antagonist, every character leaves a lasting impression.

As a thriller, the book is perfectly paced, with twists and turns that are as shocking as they are satisfying. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, the story veers in a new direction, keeping you guessing until the very end. It’s the kind of book that lingers in your thoughts long after you’ve closed it.

If you’re looking for a story that’s as engaging as it is unforgettable, this is the one. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a gripping thriller!

At first, I felt like it was a lot of POVs, but I’m glad I stuck with it because it all started coming together. The plot twist had me stunned, the ending wasn’t what I thought it would be which caught me off guard as well.. This book is HEAVY, so please take heed to the trigger warnings before reading because she does let you know what’s about to go down before you even read it… All in all, it was a good read for me, the story had me entertained, being from Texas myself, loved the setting of the book too.. I didn’t know I would have been sooo upset with one character, bro was a demon spawn lol. I wanted Trinity to “STAND UP” so bad, but she was going against real evil, so I know it wasn’t easy. My only criticism is the editing, outside of that, I enjoyed this story for sure! Jen keep going girl! 🔥🔥

good

Overall, that was a good story! The plot was interesting with just enough suspense to keep me intrigued. Also, I loved the length! It really helped to flesh out quite a few details. (Even though Miss Trinity pmo for about 75% of the book lol) there is always room for improvement and One big thing was the transitions between scenes either missing or unclear making it a little hard for the story to flow. Also, there were some inconsistencies throughout the book that kinda messed with my head a little. I do think that this book would benefit from being seen by an editor bc there were many instances of verb tense agreements. Is this a debut novel? If so, you did a really good job and I can’t wait to see all the improvements that will for sure come.

Intriguing and easy to read

I love the author's use of multiple POV's and they were so easy to follow. From the table of contents to the trigger warning, all the way to the Domestic Violence Hotline, it is clear that this author isn't just writing a story, but using art to bring to life serious issues. She really cares about her audience and those who inspired this story. All while still making it a great read.

Such a chaotic book. Von was a wild boy with a lot of issues. The whole family was insane. So glad Trinity found her forever love. Nice debut from Jen Turner
