Compiled by Dan Cohn-Sherbok, Harry Cook & Marilyn Rowens, this book is both a biography of and a tribute to the remarkable life of Rabbi Sherwin T. Wine. With contributions from 25 people close to Rabbi Wine and the Secular Humanistic movement he founded over 40 years ago, this book provides many unique perspectives of Rabbi Wine's life. The final chapter, written by Rabbi Wine, reflects on his life and what the movement has meant to him.
Rabbi Professor Dan Cohn-Sherbok is Professor of Judaism at the University of Wales, Lampeter. He is the author of over fifty books including the acclaimed The Palestine Israeli Conflict: A Beginner's Guide, co-authored with Dawoud El-Alami.
As individual essays these were terrific. As a compiled book it was a bit redundant. Sherwin Wine was a fabulous human being. I understand the reasons for writing a book about this man. He was a dear friend to my dear friend, Harry Cook. Of course, I liked Harry's writing the best. No shame in that. Harry was a great writer and his love for Rabbi Wine shows through these chapters. Intelligent and wise. Lovely!
