The Talon Pack continues with an outcast witch and a wolf who can see past the darkness.

As Heir to the Talon Pack, Ryder Brentwood carries the responsibility of not only protecting his Pack, but ensuring its future. Only no one knows that as he does this, he must also shield his people from their past. When a witch with no ties bursts into his life, he must decide if he can overcome the depravity of his secrets and trust the one person who could break the fragile hold on his control.

Grieving over the loss of her twin and on the run from the unknown, Leah Helm knows she is far more alone than she thought possible. Her coven shunned her before she was born and the wolves she sought protection with are in a war of their own. When a wolf with a whisper of secrets is forced to work with her in order to protect their people, she finds she might not be so alone after all.

The world knows more than they ever have before about those shrouded in darkness, while Ryder and Leah are thrust into the center of a conflict they never should have been part of to begin with. On their journey they must not only fight those against them, but the burning temptation that is flaring between them. Fate might have paved their path, but that doesn’t mean they have to follow.

I’m really enjoying this series. I haven’t read many shifter type books but this series is definitely capturing my attention. This is book 3 in the series and continues with the developing relationship between the Talon and Redwood packs and their plans now that they have been outed to the human world. In addition the arrival of an injured witch Leah has led to tensions with the witch community as they have been outed to humans as result of them hunting her and her twin. The witches also wanted Leah and her brother dead which increases the tension as Ryder the heir of the Talon pack has identified her as his mate.

Carrie Ann Ryan’s Mated in Mist is another phenomenal book in the Talon Pack Series. Water witch, Leah Helm, is rescued by the Talon Pack after being hunted by humans. Talon Pack Heir, Ryder Brentwood has been hiding an ability from his family. The two work together to help their people. This contemporary shapeshifter novel is suitable for new adult and adult audiences.

Carrie Ann Ryan has a gift for continually coming up with exciting and compelling stories. While each book in the collection is related, they are extremely unique adding to the overall experience in the series.

I like Leah. My heart broke for her at the loss of her twin and being shunned from her coven. Ryder has been carrying a huge burden of his secret talent. He has kept his secret for a long time considering he is over a century old. I would imagine that it would be difficult experiencing his gift without any support. I like that the Talons and Redwoods are allies and so intermingled. There are a number of antagonists in this story that are each easy to dislike: General Keith Montag, Luis Helm, and Charles McMaster.

I enjoyed the plot. It was intense and fit in well with the overall premise of the series. I loved the ending. I cannot wait for Charlotte’s story.

The third book in the Talon Pack tells the story of Ryder Brentwood, heir to the Talon Pack and Leah Helm, a water witch.

As the heir to the Talon Pack, Ryder is responsible for the protection and safety of the pack. But when the protection of the pack is compromised by the beautiful witch, Ryder does not seem able to push her away!

Hunted by humans who just realized that witches are real, Leah is exhausted and desperate. Shunned by the witches and on the run from the humans Leah and her twin brother, Roland have only each other to depend on until Leah loses him as well. Leah has nothing left to loose and nothing left to fight for. Until Ryder!

I really liked how in sync Ryder and Leah were. They worked together perfectly, there was much tension between them from their first encounter, they were protective of each other and above everything there was a connection between them even if neither wanted to admit it.

Mated in mist was a beautiful story of two broken people who healed each other. I’m glad I followed Leah and Ryder’s journey to the end. I can’t wait for Charlotte and Bram’s story! These two broke my heart and I can hope Carrie Ann Ryan will do something about it!

Ryder Brentwood
Leah Helm

Read 22/316 | 4 stars

Another enjoyable book in this series. This one is the story of Ryder the Talon pack heir and Leah, a witch who finds sanctuary in the pack. I liked both MC's. Leah was determined and stood up for herself after all she has been through in past. I did wish Ryder has told her and his family earlier as to his secret. The war with a group of humans is building. Looking forward to the next book.

I love the Talon Pack series, each installment adds more to the complexity of the pack.
With the outing of the wolves to humans, the wolves now find they have another problem. Finding Leah wounded and her brother dead, they need to know what happened to have them on the run from the humans.

Without a coven to turn to, Leah has no choice but to accept the offer of sanctuary from the Talons. She can only hope she doesn't further incur the wrath of the coven that shunned her.
From the moment Ryder held Leah as she grieved for her brother, he knew the women curled into him was his mate. He doesn't have time for mating there are too many unknowns going on, regarding both the witches and humans.

A favorite scene is when Ryder tells her he can't mate with her after growling at his brother.

Between losing her brother and confronted the coven that shunned her and then this not mating thing with Ryder, Leah is a confused bundle of emotion.

Talk about a man who refuses to accept his fate. Ryder's secret will be revealed and their will be further growth and change for the Talon Pack.

Lots of surprises in this book, we have love, angst, dishonor, betrayal, sex that starts at a simmer and then bursts into flame, and so much more.

Action-packed storyline & unforgettable characters who drag you into their tale of fated mates. Each book in this awesome series is linked by an overall background storyline which flows through each one with the finale being revealed in the last book. These stories should be read in order so that the reader can gain the best knowledge of the Talon pack history. Ryder has secrets that even his siblings don’t know about. When his pack saves Leah, she might be the only one who can help keep him sane. Leah is still grieving the loss of her twin, the last thing she needs is to feel an attraction to Ryder. When everything begins to fall down around them, will they be able to accept what fate has put in front of them? I love this series.

Book 3 in Talon Pack by Carrie Ann Ryan
Ryder is the Talon pack heir but this has come from violence and pain and he’s holding back awful secrets that some in his brothers know something isn’t write but they don’t know what.
Leah is a witch without a Covent but she had her twin brother and that was enough but humans found out about witches and tried to kill them but the Talon Pack found them.
Great book and loved the continuation in the growth of the talon pack.
This book feel a bit slow for me put I didn’t stop reading it at any point.
Looking forward to Charlotte story and the new mystery that is Shane.

The h is a water witch and the H is shifter, haunted by secrets. They are mates but he won't complete the bond because he fears what it will do to her. It was good, but the H is too beta for my taste. The h is great actually, much stronger than she first appears and she saves him. Liked it.

Good. I liked it. Some of the plot elements are becoming a bit repetitive, especially in the areas of bombings and kidnappings. But I still liked it.

Carrie Ann Ryan has done it again! If you are new to any of her books let me tell you they are heart wrenching at times! We aren’t even going to discuss the emotional turmoil I went through with the Redwood Pack. Now I am right back on that roller coaster with the Talon Pack and boy what a ride it is!! Mated in Mist tells the story of heir Ryan Brentwood who is responsible for the safety of the pack and a water witch, Leah Helm. Leah compromises the safety of the pack yet Ryder just can’t seem to push her away, although he does try.

I felt so much for Leah! She was shunned by her coven, lost her twin, and is hunted by humans. All of that has left Leah with nothing left to lose but also nothing left to fight for. She just felt so broken yet so did Ryder. He carries his secret very close to the vest and it is a huge burden for him. These two broken people deserved happiness more than anyone else (at least until the next book) in my opinion.

I loved how well Ryder and Leah were together from the very first moment they met. Even though there was a lot of tension they were protective of one another in a way that only Carrie Ann Ryan can write. You knew right from the first meeting that these two meant to be together, it’s just the getting them to that point that seems to be blurred.

This was simply a beautifully exquisite story about two people who were broken and lost before they found not only love but healing with one another. I can’t wait for Charlotte and Bram’s story!

ARC REVIEW

This was a great one! These books just keep getting better and better. Carrie Ann Ryan has created this world where shifters, witches and demons exist; and while the genre isn't new Carrie Ann makes it her own. I love that I have been able to follow this family through heaven and hell and from parents to children. I am emotionally tied to both of these packs, what happens to them happens to me, I fall in love when they fall in love and when someone dies I cry with them. Carrie Ann is such an engaging author with a talent for in depth storylines, sexy as sin heroes, strong heroines, tortured pasts, and yet so easy to read and follow and soooo addictive.

Mated in Mist introduces Leah, a very powerful water witch. Her mother was shunned before Leah and her twin Roland were born. They have been on the run as long as Leah could remember. Leah is now alone in the world and finds herself half dead on Talen territory. Ryder is the Heir, he has survived the atrocities that happened with the past Alpha and now he lives in his own hell. He hides his curse from everyone, and knows full and well that he could never mate and share the burden of his curse with her. But the draw of attraction between him and Leah is too much for him to bear.

When the witches must join sides with the shifters or go to war with each other Leah and Ryder are thrust in the middle. The conflict between the paranormal and the Humans First terrorist grows even more so with the help of government politicians. Kidnapping, magical battles, backstabbing, happy rough sexual rompings between two life mates, oh yeah it's all there. Teasing for the next book couple too.

The story of the Talon Pack continues in this latest release by Carrie Ann Ryan. This time the Heir to the Pack, Ryder, meets his mate. Lean stumbles to the Talon’s while being chased by humans. Her twin brother dies in the skirmish. Leah has spent her life always on guard and she is not willing to let that down so easy, even for a s3xy wolf.

Ryder has his own secrets, though. He feels the mate pull with Leah but does not feel worthy to have a mate. He and his siblings escaped the tyranny of their father and uncles, but the emotional scars still run deep. I liked that Ryder was willing to compromise with Leah. They could be friends with benefits but he was honest in telling her emotionally he could not bond with her.

Leah is an untrained water witch. She knows she has skills but needs to practice to reach her full potential. What she doesn’t expect is her bonding with the pack. She is willing to jump in and protect even though she just met them all. Leah helps in the continuing battle against the humans. More secrets are revealed and the wolves get closer to figuring out who may be trying to expose them.

Leah’s compassion is ultimately Ryder’s saving grace. Once they really talk things out, Ryder realizes his special gift is not an affliction. This opens the door for them to complete the mate bond. As always, it is great to see previous couples pop up in the book. Still quite a few siblings to get through before this series wraps. Wonderful paranormal read. Great author!

I discovered Carrie Ann Ryan's books not too long ago, and I enjoyed the first book I read by her, so naturally I needed to read Mated in Mist. Ryder and Leah are a fun pair with their own traumas that haunt their past. Together, they work together to become even stronger through one another.

I love the involvement of all the characters in the books; I saw so much of other characters, something I really appreciate. Leah and Ryder certainly shine throughout the book, but those other scenes add something special to the plot.

There was a suspense aspect of the plot with figuring out who was behind the crimes and what the purpose was. Some of this was resolved a bit too easily, but it definitely provided ammunition for the plot. Twisted and dark, these aspects added a spin to the plot.

Let's get to the romance, the best part. Leah and Ryder are awesome - they both are such strong characters with such determination, and together they are even stronger. There is reluctance on both of their parts to get involved due to their tragic pasts, but it was healing for them to be together. And boy, they can really tear up the sheets.

I already cannot wait for the next book in this series - because the people it features seem awesome! Also, I need to play catchup and see what I've been missing in the other Redwood and Talon pack books!

Quick Info
Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standalone
Part of a Series?: Yes
----------------------------------
Meeting the Characters
Ryder Brentwood -Heir to Talon pack
Leah - Water witch on the run
----------------------------------
What happens?
Leah starts the book running with her twin brother Roland. They are running from humans determined to try and make them use magic so they can film it an expose them to the world.
They end up killing Roland and Leah is saved by the wolves who bring her into their den and heal her. Grieving with the loss of her twin and trying to adjust in her new home is a challenge especially when she realises her and Ryder are fated mates.
Ryder is harbouring a secret, a secret I thought was pretty cool but I guess would be scary if you had to deal with it. Ryder and Leah face this challenge head on and face them both being attacked and captured at separate times.
Final thoughts
For a book as short as this there is a lot of it packed into it (haha) I like Ryder and I like Leah. There is a lot less on their romance in the second half of this book and a lot more on people out to get wolves or them personally.
Would I read again?: Yes

After bingeing on the Redwood pack over a weekend, I bumped this book up on my TBR. Having just seen so many of these main characters as children, I had to see what their stories were as adults. Even though no Redwoods are front and centre here, they are around

This is all about Ryder and Leah, and as with most of our wolf mates, Ryder believes he will burden his mate with X so he chooses to ignore the mating pull. Leah is a witch, but she still feels a pull to Ryder. It takes them most of the book to sort things out, but it is an interesting ride

While it may seem that some of the story lines are repetitive, and they are, it is why they reject the mating pull, and the characters that still draw you in. The overall story arcs are amazing, so each book, while it can be read as a stand alone, builds on and on. The looking in on established couples actually is a treat for me in each book

You also get a bit of a set up to the next story, and having just read Charlotte's story as a child, I cannot wait to see what the future holds for her!

I received an ARC of this book from InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review and as part of the book's blog tour promotions.

I think I've said before that I am not a huge fan of Carrie Ann Ryan's contemporary romances. However, there is no question that her paranormal romances are the bomb. If the Redwood Pack and this series are any indication, you'd see that her shifter books are just very enjoyable. Her world-building isn't very complicated. You won't feel like you are often at a loss because there's just too many characters, too many terminologies. Nope. Ms. Ryan keeps everything easy for her readers.

I like her paranormal romances because her men are hot alpha males who are loyal and know how to fight for their women. Furthermore, her heroines are brave and are often good fighters too, whether literally or not. I truly enjoyed this book, like its predecessors. If you like steamy shifters, look no further than this book and this series.

My heart broke for Leah with the loss of her brother, but I loved that she ended up with the Talon Pack and even more so with Ryder. Ryder feels the mate call with her, but believes he is losing his mind and can't possibly burden her with that. Of course Leah is head over heels for him and can't understand why he won't be with her for more than just their friends with benefits arrangement. Then they discover something that changes everything. I loved that Leah balances him and is the perfect match for him. I also love the people surrounding them. I so enjoyed their story and can't wait to read more of this series.

I give Mated in Mist 5 hearts!

Terrible writing. In this 3rd book of the series the author does a better job with character development but the dialogue is still awful and pointless. She just needs to stop using quotations altogether.
Her sex scenes are very generic and she over uses the word cunt. It’s in every sex scene (sometimes more than once) in every one of her books. “Cunt” isn’t sexy, especially if it’s over used. Maybe it’s her character descriptions but these people turn into random dirty talkers during sex but it doesn’t feel like the same character she writes about in the rest of the story. She has no flow.
In all 3 of the first books in this series the main characters “can’t” mate and one of them gets kidnapped by the same people in the exact same way. Actually, was there a bomb in this kidnapping? I legitimately can’t remember. Bomb, tranquilizer, torture. Every. Single. Time. …ACTUALLY! This book had 2 kidnappings and they only used a bomb in one of them so maybe she’s progressing🤷‍♀️.
She introduces new characters for the next book in the series but it just sort of comes out of nowhere. She doesn’t blend well at all. Some authors can do this, throw a new character in the story and give them a chapter without totally stopping the book they’re actually writing at the time but this author isn’t one of them. The character from the next book in her series doesn’t even attempt to blend into the actual story line you’re forced to follow while reading this book. She just throws them in there gives them a random blurb in the middle of the current book and then goes back to her story..
I feel like I’ve read the same book 3 times with different character names. I’m baffled by this author selling so many books.

This is the 3rd book in the Talon pack series and I would definitely read this series in order so that you can not only understand exactly what is happening but about the connections of the side characters as well. This one is about Ryder Brentwood and Leah Helm. Ryder is the Heir to the Talon pack and has a secret he has been keeping not only from his pack but from his family. But he does what he believes is right in order to protect everyone. Leah is a witch who has been shunned since birth and is just trying to survive. And now with the loss of her brother, she fears that she has no where to turn in order to just be able to exist. Neither realize that their lives are about to change forever, or how much they truly need those changes.

I really liked this installment. Ryder is a strong man but he definitely lives with his own issues stemming from his childhood and family. Leah is one of the strongest women I have read about in a long time. And to have to go through the things that she does from the time she was a child is heart wrenching. Especially when she loses her brother, that just about broke my heart. And to find out the reason for it, it's just mind blowing! I loved them together, especially when they realize how much stronger they are together. Another great read by this author!

Ryder Brentwood, the Heir of the Talon Pack, meets his mate Leah Helm, a water witch after she is shot and her twin brother killed while fleeing from humans with guns. Ryder knows at first glance that Leah is his mate, but as per usual in this series, he cannot mate with her because of something he did in his past...*sigh*. Leah is all alone in the world now that her brother is dead as her biological father and the coven have shunned her and naturally, the Talon Pack takes her in and cares for her, and she somehow winds up staying with Ryder at his home.

Arguably this is the best of the three books I've read in this series but still lacking in substance. The intimate scenes with Ryder and Leah are unoriginal and carbon copies of the intimate scenes with Gideon and Brie and Finn and Brynn--exactly. As with the other two books, this story is also repetitive, and there are numerous grammatical errors along with character confusion. Having finished up the three free reads in this series, I'm less uninclined to purchase book four and read further.

On my Were Scale of Hotness, 3 stars.

I absolutely loved this story!!!!! It was phenomenal!! It picks up where the last one left off and we get to figure out what was going on with the 2 witches. Leah has lost her twin brother to humans who were chasing them but thankfully she found safety with the wolves. She has to try and adjust to her loss and the wolves taking her in. She has only ever really had her brother and has known a life on the run. I love getting to catch up with all our old friends. They are interwoven into this story and this series so well. I loved getting to know Ryder better and finally getting his happy ending. It's not an easy one and one both Leah and Ryder have to fight for. Ryder doesn't believe that he can ever have a mate because of his special gift. No ones that he has this extra gift, the ability to hear the dead. He has hidden it since he was a child and so doesn't fully understand it and won't take the chance that his mate would ever have any part of it, because his dead uncle still tortures him. It hasn't been a pleasant gift for him and it makes it very hard when his mate shows up and all he wants is to be with her but he doesn't believe that he can. Leah is trying to deal with all the changes that have been thrown at her, while also figuring out the Ryder/mate situation. She doesn't feel worthy of it either and doesn't want to put Ryder in any more danger. As they both fight to figure out what is going on and hold on to their sanity they are drawn closer and closer together. I loved how they built their relationship. There is a lot of sexual tension as you can imagine and the sex is explicit. It is another great book by Carrie Ann Ryan. There is also plenty of intrigue and action that goes along as well. The over-arcing storyline from the previous 2 books is continued but it is done in a way that it stands alone within this story. I would still recommend reading all of them because you will get so much enjoyment out of it if you do. I am absolutely addicted to this series and can't wait for the next one!

This is book is better than the last two in my opinion. There wasn't as much anger and resentment involved in this story. We also got more insight into the pack and their past. I amn eager to dig deeper into this packs lives!
Leah is a water witch that was never accepted in a coven due to her father. Her and her twin brother were on the run from humans. They were almost to Talon pack lands when they were shot.
Ryder knew that she was his mate but was leary of mating with her because of his "gift". He didn't want her to be in pain and lose parts of her soul a little at a time like he has when the mating bond snapped into place.
We learn more about the witches, some of who is behind the human first movement and meet someone who will hopefully be in the next book.

(Ryder & Leah): the fight continues to protect the wolves from the humans but now, witches were involved. On the run with her twin brother, water witch Leah is found injured and brought to the Talon Pack's den. There she meets the Heir to the Talon Pack, Ryder. The two have a strong pull to each other but Ryder denies his mate because the "gift" he has that could hurt his pack. This book is not so much an insta romance because of the denial on top of the drama. I like that they don't immediately fall in love, they have to learn to trust first. The drama with the humans first group, that is driving me nuts. I kind of wish all antagonists remained within the magical world. This is becoming too hate crime-ish. I am anxious to see how the story ends though.

Wow this series just gets better, so although the Talons and Redwoods are part of every book each concentrates on one couple, and this book is about Ryder and Leah. Ryder has always hidden his gift from everyone to avoid being a burden to his family and pack but that’s about to change when he rescues Leah. Leah, a water witch, has been running all her life but has she finally found her place?
Loved the story, plot, characters. The story continues from each book so I can’t wait to see what happens next. Lots of angst, lots of sweet moments, some amazingly hot sexy moments. Twists and turns kept me on my toes but I was gripped. Would recommend
