I really connected with the characters, Natalie and Michael, in this story. They were determined to find the answers for the cold cases that had plagued the area. Natalie was an FBI agent who had come out from Washington D.C. to ferret out the truth as to why cold cases had been mishandled years ago. Michael is the current lab manager and although he was cleared of his ex-wife's murder months ago, there's still some questions. Natalie used to live in the area when she was a teenager, and her best friend went missing so Natalie hopes to tie that case to other cold cases but if she starts investigating, she knows she'll be pulled off this assignment because she's too close to the case. When mysterious and possibly deadly things begin to happen, Natalie thinks the killer might still be around after all these years! Will she be able to live to see tomorrow? Michael won't let her die without a fight!
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
When FBI agent Natalie “Nat” Brunetti is assigned to investigate a forensics lab that once was involved with evidence tampering, she jumps at the chance. It’s on her home turf, not that she told her boss this. But it gives her the opportunity to do a bit on undercover sleuthing on her own, involving a case where her girlfriend went missing 14 years age.
This story grabbed my attention from the first page. You know without a doubt that this is a high-stakes tale that will have you holding your breath. I found myself invested in the case, the plot and the characters very quickly. Ms. Ericson does a great job of setting the tone of the book and thrusting the reader into the middle of the action.
Intense suspense with danger lurking around every corner! Ericson is bringing the drama with the second book in her Pacific Northwest Forensics series with Harlequin Intrigue and I loved every minute of it. The characters both have very interesting backstories and reason to be drawn to each other. I enjoyed the twists throughout that had us suspecting different characters before the big reveal showing us who they've been looking for. The plot and characters overall were well developed, but I wanted a tad more to tie the ending up a little stronger. Overall a great book with a really interesting plot. Highly recommend!
A cat and mouse hunt transpires as an FBI investigator, Natalie, comes to Merryville, WA to check out evidence tampering at a forensic’s lab. Several vital pieces of evidence involved in some cold cases, the serial killings at Kitsap College and 3 recent deaths are missing. When an attempt is made on Natalie’s life pressure mounts to solve this mystery. Are the cases related? A copycat killer? The questions have rattled someone cage. Will Natalie figure it out before it’s too late? Have they discovered Natalie’s secret? A quick read which kept me guessing.
When it seems evidence is being tampered with in the crime lab managed by Michael Wilder, Natalie Brunetti is sent in to investigate. Little did she know the past and present would cross paths. The intense suspense and intrigue carry through the entire story, you'll have a hard time figuring who did it and why. There is some romance with a happy ending as they resolve the mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next in this series.
This book was so good. Natalie was going to a crime lab to investigate cold cases to see if anything was done wrong. What Natalie didn’t let everyone know was that she wanted to investigate her best friend’s murder from 14 years earlier. Michael is the head of the crime lab and he ended up finding out her secret. There ended up being other murders and Nat and Michael had things happen to them. When they found what they were after it was shocking
This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was suspenseful, steamy, fun and kept me reading. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books by this author.
