Allasso, Volume 3: Storge

Rate this book
Allasso, a journal of anthropomorphic fiction, poetry, and art, brings together talents both within and outside of the furry fandom. This volume, Storge, explores familial love, those complicated bonds that bind kin together. However, families come with problems. Many stories in this volume show the difficulties that can come from finances, misunderstandings, or outright betrayals. Although these may create irreparable rifts, rough times often cause that love, storge, to grow stronger.

I didn't enjoy Allasso Volume 3 as much as previous editions because it didn't seem to have the same polish and quality. One story in particular was unreadable but I felt there were also some intriguing ones even if they were hit and miss. The best story for me was Cold Scent by Alice Dryden about a police dog that loses his sense of smell. Another that caught my eye was Only Love Survives by Tristan Black Wolf even if the twist didn't have the impact it probably intended to have. And though I liked the concept and originality of On the Surface by James Steele, the ending seemed very anticlimactic and it brought up a lot of questions that weren't addressed. Like how were the aquatic anthropomorphic characters able to survive out of water without issue. And saying the water effects of the stage show were a "trade secret" felt like a cop-out. Overall, most of the stories were nothing to write home about, a few kept me reading regardless of the issues I had with them, and for that reason others might be able to find some enjoyment out of them.
