This is the third and final in this series of Tricky's Tales, make sure to check out books one and two: Dead Lake & Unsailable Sea.
When Things Get Tricky
Booby trapped bunkers. A recording on a gemstone. Creating a time labyrinth. Will Tricky be able to trap her would-be assassin before he catches her?
Cracked glass balls! Tricky didn’t think anything could top the threat of being killed by the network, but she was wrong!
Tricky has managed to escape the network but she needs to get to the palace in Chestwick before they catch her again. She has to play a recording to The Baron, Tumelo; a recording Lucien Dufray discovered on her obsidian. It had cost Lucien his life, and what it reveals might cost Tricky hers!
On her way, the trees show Tricky a greater menace in the bunkers, not just to her but to the entire landmass, making her quest to destroy the network even more imperative. Tricky decides the key is to get rid of Gandalf, aka Douglas Bottle, who thinks himself some kind of grand wizard. But Tricky’s no murderer (just an inadvertent one) and devises a plan, one which, with the help of The Rabble, she hopes to fulfil – oh yes she does.
Will Tumelo support Tricky or blame her? Can Tricky trap Gandalf before he catches her? And is she really considering settling down if she saves the landmass? The only thing Tricky knows for sure is she faces another journey, one that will take her out of the landmass and out of time – she only hopes she can get back.
Tricky’s Tales are a series of dark paranormal fantasy novels set a few hundred years from now in a post-apocalyptic world. After a massive shift of the tectonic plates decimated the world and its population, life on the remaining landmass has returned to simple living, with money, rulers and religion no longer tolerated.
Book loving, writer, who likes to read several books at a time because she's a bit crazy like that.
Go-to authors are Stephen King, James Herbert, Terry Pratchett, Raymond Feist and Clive Barker, with Asimov, Arthur C Clarke, Robert A Heinlein and lots of others in between.
It's not so much about loving particular genres, as much as finding stories and characters to engage and resonate with - but I will always head for Horror, Thrillers, and Science Fiction, before any others (my guilty pleasure is Self-Help.)
I write dark stuff, sci-fi stuff, surreal stuff, psychological stuff and a mixture of all four.
What a fabulous read this was. Full of just about everything we have come to expect in this series. Magic made with the aid of crystals and energy taken from nature. Betrayals and murder. Joy and sorrow, love and hate, lasting friendships and hideous enemies. What a world Miranda Kate created here. You really should read the first two books though or you will not get the whole experience. If this is indeed, the last of the series, I shall miss it terribly. We are promised though, to come across Tricky in the future. I do hope so. She has been such a unique and intriguing character. One that stays with you. Terrific series, terrific. I received a free reader's copy of this book and am leaving a review voluntarily.
This is an amazing, third part to this incredible series! I loved all of it! A really great idea, really well written with twists turns, completely unexpected some of them, in this brilliant fantasy series! I do love this authors work & strongly recommend!
This is the third and last book of Tricky’s Tales and boy what a series. I would recommend you read all three. They are all so good you pick the book up and don’t want to put it down, you really get into the tales. Would recommend.
I could hardly wait to read this latest installment of Tricky’s world! I received the ARC and started reading it that night! It continues the story of Tricky and her worlds. It’s one of those books that I can lose myself in and block out my own world! It is exciting throughout The whole book , one of those “one more chapter “ books! It is very well written! ! A lot of loose ends were tied up from her first 2 books, but I’m hoping there is more Tricky To come! She feels like a friend that you want to see frequently!
Three books, the first of when I downloaded through Voracious Readers only & much to my surprise I quickly followed it by buying two and three. It took me quite a while to get into book one but once I had finished that one the next two were almost impossible to put down. If you enjoy fantasy fiction that's not built around vampires and werewolves etc. I think that you will enjoy this trilogy and I personally can't recommend it enough.
Tricky lives in a very different world. Or more correctly worlds. Bottle is after her mother's gemstones and Tricky needs to stop him for good! She has some ability to travel in space and time and she needs her full tricky abilities. And she needs to get a recording into the right hands. A grand adventure, with plenty of twists.
Unbelievable stories that will thrill everyone. There’s no stopping until the end. I received an ARC and leaving a review because I absolutely loved everything about it. Be prepared to binge.
Tricky is back, almost from the dead, and she’s got revenge on her mind, but she also needs to unravel the plot against her and the landmass she lives on. Using her magic, friends, and an ability to travel into unseen worlds, she fights her cause. But she’s not sure she will be able to find her way back, and if she does will anyone believe and stand with her?
There are high stakes in this final book, but Tricky’s not one to shy away. I loved the story leading through many twisty turns, until Tricky faces her nemesis, and I was satisfied with the ending. Tricky is one hell of a witch, and I’d want her on my side!
A story that brims with sass and attitude, give the whole trilogy a read!
