Traveling in space and being an astronaut is every child's dream, as well as the character Hannah Arielle, who together with her experienced crew of her baby brother Josh, and cute pet Lucky set out to conquer the star trails. The journey is exciting and amazing, but the meeting with an asteroid causes an accident… How our heroes will cope remains to be read… The story is interesting, the illustrations are so good that the pages are read quickly. A child's dream of becoming an astronaut is a dream that should be supported and directed towards acquiring new academic knowledge!

Little Hannah Ariel dreams of one day going to space. The stars beckon to the young girl, and Hannah simply can’t wait to explore the vastness of the star fields above her. Facing criticism from her teacher, grumpy Ms. Sardine, Hannah refuses to give up. Determined to one day reach the stars, Hannah Ariel gives her all as she fights for a dream that is deemed impossible.
Space Dream: Shoot for the Stars by Jon Finkel is a lavishly illustrated children’s book about pursuing one's personal dream. Bright illustrations by Martynas Marchiusm draw the reader in, as Hannah Ariel, her little brother Josh, and their faithful pup Lucky work together to make her dreams come true. I loved the important message of working hard to make your dreams a reality, no matter how impossible they may seem at first. The only detraction from this lovely story is that the rhythm and cadence of the rhyming text was a little difficult to read aloud. The number of syllables and accented word placement varied from page to page, which caused some difficulty when attempting to read it to an audience.
However, this is a truly stunning tale about following the dreams of the heart and overcoming criticism, an important message today and in any age. This book about literally shooting for the stars is a great choice for parents, teachers, and all those interested in space and the STEAM education movement. Earning 4 out of 5 stars, This charming storybook is certain to become a family favorite as readers of all ages enjoy dreaming about space travel alongside Hannah Ariel.

I don’t know why more books don’t include a dog or a cat or both. Thank goodness this one does! Even though the book is about Arielle, a girl who dreams of going to space, the inclusion of the family dog makes the cute illustrations all the more charming. If I were going to space, I would definitely want to take my dog with me.
What’s good here: Arielle is a strong female character. She is not defiant when her teacher is skeptical about her desire to go to space, but she respectfully persists. Bravo. Her teacher has a change of heart. I liked that. The author allows that “Ms. Sardine” is stern, but she is also supportive. Also, I loved that Arielle includes her brother (as well as her dog) in her plans. I read a good deal of children’s literature, and I grow weary of the standard, over-used tropes—the mean teacher, the obnoxious little brother, the defiant girl who ends up getting in trouble due to her bad attitude. This book had all the warm feels.
If Space Dream falls down at all, it is in the rhythm and rhyme of the text. The story is told in verse, and at times the meter is a bit off, which is probably only meaningful to me and would not be noticed by the vast majority of children reading the book. All around great little story!

Ever dreamed of blasting off into space?
This book is ideal for space lovers, dream chasers, or anyone who just wants a fun read with a dash of magic.
The story follows Hannah Arielle, a little girl with big plans to become an astronaut (despite her grumpy teacher’s doubts). With her baby brother Josh and their super cute pup Lucky as her crew, she builds a rocket, zooms past planets, and even floats in zero gravity. It’s imaginative, heartwarming, and packed with charm.
I loved the playful rhymes - they keep things snappy and fun, perfect for kids with big imaginations.
And the illustrations? So colorful and whimsical! Lucky the dog chasing a floating bone in space had me smiling 🙂 Plus, the whole “never give up on your dreams” message is a great reminder for kids and adults alike.
If I could tweak one thing, I’d say the ending felt a little quick. I wanted to spend just a bit more time in Hannah’s dream. And maybe give Josh a bigger role - he’s part of the crew but doesn’t get that much of the spotlight.

A great family read-aloud and also a wonderful tool for the classroom for a social emotional learning discussion.

Finkel tells the story of a young girl who dreams of going to space. Her teacher initially discourages this dream, but Hannah Arielle does not give up. One night, after a dream, Hannah determines she will learn all she can to go to space one day.
One thing I didn’t really like about the book was the portrayal of the teacher as not accepting the child’s dreams and the defiant attitude of the main character - although it is understandable.
Marchiusm used a cartoon-like style for the illustrations. The illustrations go beyond the text. The style and characters are consistent throughout the book.
Space Dreams is appropriate for a K-12 Christian school library. It could be added to the picture book section for young elementary students.

Space Dream by Jon Finkel is a wonderful bed time read, illustrations which enhanced the text, and full of wonderful twists in the overnight adventure. It is sure to keep little ones both entertained and wanting to get to sleep to have wonderful dreams of their own. I can see this becoming a bedtime favourite for my own grandchildren.
I can see a lot of work went into making the text fun to read whilst subliminally reinforcing many things caregivers want children to learn, without any lectures.
What I liked most about this book is that it encourages children to go for what they really want - no dream is too big.

A sweet little book for tiny tots!
This book is about a little girl, Hannah Arielle's wondrous trip to space with her baby brother and their puppy.
The full page illustrations (in an expressive cartoony style) will keep kids happily engaged. There is also a page which depicts a part of the solar system which I think is very cool, because this can be a good way to introduce kids to concepts like outer space, planets and others.
Another thing I loved about this was that Hannah's dream involves her brother who is still a toddler. But in her mind, she wants him to be with her in every exciting journey, which is really really sweet.

Fun Romp with a Light Lesson
Colourful, full of expression, we travel with a trio to follow their dream. The teacher came across as harsh & edgy, with an unflattering description, which may be a child's perception, but there was redemption for this in the end. I was hoping there would be more of an explanation as to why we shouldn't let the 'smart computer' do all the work without needing maps and taking naps, but being a vision of imagination, a parent or teacher could help explain the reality in more detail. Overall, a nice spark of inspiration, determination, and education.

Space Dream by Jon Finkel is a cute story for kids about believing in yourself and going after your dreams. The illustrations are fun and cute. This is a great book for bedtime or for anytime. I look forward to reading more from the author.

What a fantastic read! My children absolutely love reading this book before bed. I love the lesson the book teaches children-dream big and follow your heart. The illustrations are vibrant and beautiful. I highly recommend this book to all kids out there!

This book is so creative and educational! Teachers and parents will love it! It teaches young children to be true to themselves by working hard to fulfill their dreams. Children are exposed to the planets, the sun, moon, asteroids, and gravity. The illustrations are fabulous!

My grandchildren loved this book. The story sparked their curiosity about space, “what an incredible, wondrous place”! The beautiful illustrations captivate the kids’ attention as they learn about the moon and the planets. I highly recommend this read!
