Join Bolanle on her transformative journey, where every choice has the power to redefine her destiny.
Okay... I have to confess, this is my book. But, hear me out... I LOVED Frank Peretti's "This Present Darkness" and "Piercing the Darkness" back in the day, and this has a similar vibe.
A battle is raging in the spiritual realm, which impacts lives in the physical world. Darkness Trembles expresses those two worlds colliding to completely upend the life of its main character, Bolanle [Bo-LAHN-lee] Anderson. It is a journey where the choices she makes play a vital role in a future bathed in Light or cloaked in Darkness.
The ebook is free on Amazon for the next few days. If you choose to read it and LOVE it, please consider leaving a review. I'd be most grateful!
This book is a must read for anyone struggling to understand the battle in the spiritual world that takes place for our souls. In our modern day culture, we give little or no credence to demonic spirits. Kelly Whitehead tells the story of a young girl torn between the pull of a heavenly, holy savior vs. the enemy who does everything in his power to pull her away from our Creator. The book reveals this 'behind the scenes' battle and keeps the reader engaged throughout. The book is a quick read with characters who you naturally find yourself cheering for! On a deeper level, the book makes you think... What forces are fighting over your ultimate eternal home?
Really enjoyed reading this book. It reminded me of Frank Perretti's books that I read years ago. The author does a great job "pulling back the curtain" to show what is happening as we walk through this life. I look forward to reading more from her.
Wow, all I can say is, DARKNESS TREMBLES blew me away! DARKNESS TREMBLES is a story filled with heartbreak, emotions, loneliness, and darkness but there is also hope, faith, healing and light. When you think all is resolved a new plot brings another challenge. The story holds you hostage all the way to the end, making it very hard to put it down.
I felt in love with Bolanle, the main character, and felt her struggle was real. I had to know what was going to happen to her and all the secondary characters, of which many are charming and you find yourself cheering and caring for them.
Kelly is an excellent story teller. In DARKNESS TREMBLES she presents a complicated truth in a very simple way that we all can relate to and learn from. The story is presented in a parallel of two worlds: an everyday situation in the life of Bolanle and at the same time how the darkness and the Light battles to affect the outcome. Very clever and thought provoking! Excellent!
I highly recommend this book because it is well written, easy to read with a beautiful inspirational message and will encourage great group discussions.

Everyone of us knows that there is more going on than meets the eye, that the world is full of mysteries to be explained. In "Darkness Trembles" Kelly W pulls back the curtain to give us a glimpse into the mystery on a cosmic scale. We readers follow the protagonist Bolanle as she is given sight to see behind the curtain. She is introduced to an old man living on the street named Lemrich T Free-byrd McDonald. This homeless man turns out to be of the greatest importance to the invisible powers that be. He leads Bolanle on an adventure of learning what's really behind DN4's (her stepdad) cuelty, Lily's sacrificial love and Lawson's faithful friendship with the hard-to-live with Quigly. If you are interested in what's really going on behind the beauty, ugliness, love and hate that surround us daily, this is the book for you.
Found this book to be a very engaging and enjoyable read. It’s so easy to get into, and I would definitely recommend it, especially to young Christians. The author does a really good job of blending christian themes with a captivating coming-of-age narrative. The main character's struggles and emotional challenges shape her into a relatable and inspiring figure, whether you're just starting to understand what it means to be a Christian or have a deeper, more established faith.
It's an uplifting and meaningful story that teaches us that our past doesn’t define who we are. It acts as both a spiritual guide and a beautiful reminder that, even in the darkest of times, there is always hope and light to be found 🙂
I don’t usually read fiction—in fact, I’ve probably only read one Christian fiction book before this—but Darkness Trembles has completely pulled me in.
Even though I haven’t finished it yet, it’s already one of the most impactful books I’ve read as a Christian. The story feels so real and raw, shining a light on spiritual warfare in a way that makes you stop and reflect.
I can’t wait to see how it ends, but I already know this is a book I’ll be recommending to anyone looking for a powerful, faith-filled read.
This is a good book that shines a light on spiritual warfare in the lives of humans and how both sides fight to win that "one lost soul" for their own. The characters are easy to root for, and the story takes the reader on a character's vast journey of redemption. It paints a great picture of flawed people navigating their way through life in a realistic way.
This book is targeted to young adult audiences, but adult readers would for sure enjoy it as well.
**Christian readers should be aware that there is quite a bit of profanity spoken through unredeemed characters. If you read Christian Fiction to shield yourself from the carnality of profanity, read with caution.**
