Treating the star striker for the Lions? He was the handsome teenage boy I never thought would make my heart race faster than his shots on goal. Too bad he’s also my brother’s best friend and my new patient.
Logan Westbrook.
He’s hardheaded, way too good-looking, and the last person I ever wanted to walk into my therapy clinic.
Now I’m supposed to heal his knee without reigniting old feelings?
And with our apartments right next to each other?
I’m not sure what’s his late-night therapy grumbles or the way his guard falls when we’re alone.
I’m keeping my distance… or trying to.
But with Logan, maybe falling for the wrong guy has never felt so right.
My Brother’s Best Friend by Gina Cooper is an enjoyable and engaging book, Logan, Cassie, and Cassie’s brother Anthony grew up together. They’ve drifted apart due to careers and distance, but Logan and Anthony continue to stay in touch. Logan is a hockey player whose career is at an all-time high. He’s his team’s all-time leading scorer who has been injured and the news isn’t good. Dr. Malik tells Logan that if he doesn’t follow through with the proper rehab, his soccer career will be over. Logan waits for the “but” or “however”, but it never comes. Logan eats, sleeps, and focuses on hockey. What will he do if he’s not able to recover from this injury? As if that’s not devastating enough, he has a new therapist. Someone who doesn’t know him or his drive to be the best. Will this new therapist be able to help him recover and become stronger? Hockey is his life, it’s who he is. Logan is fighting not for just his career, but for who he is and how much he gives to be the best. Dr. Moores is highly recommended and is an expert on sports injuries. She discovers that her first patient will be Logan, the club’s star striker, lethal scorer, and her brother’s best friend. Will Logan accept her help in his recovery, will he dismiss her as unqualified, or will he demand someone else? Even if he accepts her help, will he follow her orders and not push himself the way she knows he always has. Will this injury be career ending for Logan? On a personal note, I’ve always been a sports fan (baseball, football, and basketball). I kept statistics for my high school basketball team and in college. I’ve never been to a hockey game, but I know it’s an intense and fast paced sport. You don’t want to miss this book; it will draw you in from the beginning and keep you up wanting to find out what happens.
Gina Cooper is a comfort author to me. Her short stories always bring sizzling, clean romance, characters that I can fall in love with instantly, an escape from everything, and a guaranteed happy ending. The comfort of all of this makes her an author I pick up when I just need to get out of my own head. I can lose myself in her books, coming back to reality refreshed.
Cassie and Logan grew up together. Cassie’s brother, Anthony, was best friends with Logan, so they were off limits to each other. That didn’t keep them away from each other though. As they get older, they drift apart. Logan becomes a well known soccer player and an injury has his career in question. He needs to focus on healing properly or his soccer days are done. When he meets his new PT, it is a blast from the past, when he realizes it’s Cassie. Now not only is he having to deal with his injury, but also feelings from the past that he thought he had buried. With his eye on the prize, he won’t fail! But what prize is his eye on?
Cassie is always professional, so when her brother’s best friend ends up as her PT patient, she will push everything down and help him recover. However, those feelings from the past don’t want to stay buried. She knows Logan doesn’t like to talk about his feelings and doesn’t want him to run away again. However, hurt from the past reminds her that there is more than just her present feelings that need to be dealt with.
I loved reading about Logan and Cassie. The story is theirs, but doesn’t just include them. We get to see Anthony, Logan’s parents, and others help Logan and Cassie realize they have something special. A great read about truly appreciating all that you have and going after what you want most. Recommend this book to everyone!
As always, review any author notes before reading.
Tropes: ⚽Brother’s Best Friend 🦶Soccer Romance ⚽Second Chance Romance 🦶Physical Therapist x Patient ⚽Clean Romance
Scoring with my Brother's Best Friend is a clean, second chance as grown ups, sports romance. Easy to read and follow the story, plus it keeps you engaged to see what happens next. This romance tells the story of Logan and Cassie, as well as her brother, Anthony, from teenagers to adults.
Logan is a well known soccer striker who has suffered what he fears will be a career ending injury and must face the ghosts of his life and fight for his complete recovery. In walks Cassie, the new PT who has been assigned to help him recover his legendary left foot. When Logan sees Cassie, he realizes who she is and is forced to deal with his feelings for her as well as figure out what life will bring. He is stressed over his leg injury and what he thinks is left for him.
This story follows not only their current situation, but ethical decisions, self worth struggles and physical healing. The reader is able to see the romance through the eyes of Logan and Cassie, but also through his parents, Anthony (Cassie's brother) and the entire soccer team. The past issues need to be dealt with before they can move forward. As the mother of 2 sons, I love the way Gina Cooper uses Logan's mother to show him all the ways he has loved and cared for Cassie over the years. There is nothing like a picture to "show" a thousand words.
I would recommend this book for anyone. The story shows how love can survive the years, maturity and win in the end. See who the team is betting on. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Is a sweet second chance, brother's best friend, off-limits, soccer romance with no cliffhanger. Some of the lines I really like ---- “The strongest comebacks are built step by step,” ---- "You’re scared. But pushing away the people trying to help won’t fix your knee.” ---- “Sometimes the hardest injuries to treat are the ones that don’t show up on MRIs. The ones that shake someone’s entire sense of self.” ---- “Wake up, man. She’s going above and beyond because she believes in you. The question is, when are you going to start believing in yourself again? When are you going to fight for your comeback like you used to fight for goals?” ---- Sometimes the best healings come from breaking all the rules. ---- “Your worth isn’t measured in goals scored or games won. It’s in how you face challenges, how you create beauty from setbacks, how you love despite fear.” ---- "that the strongest healing comes from the heart,” ---- I loved Cassie and Logan's romance and I'm sure you will too. I loved everyone of her books that I've read and can't wait to read her next book.
I love all things Gina Cooper, and this does not disappoint! Logan Westbrook has a severe knee injury and is unable to continue to play soccer. He is his clubs star striker, and need him back ASAP. Dr. Malik tells Logan that if he does not follow through with the proper rehab, his soccer career is over. Dr. Cassie Moores is new to The Lion's Beverly Hills Sports Medicine Center. She is assigned to Logan's case, because she has revolutionary new ground breaking protocols. Cassie personally knows Logan, other than her brothers best friend. They grew up together, and almost dated. How will this work out with her being his physical therapist? Love the plot, great setting, and strong intense interesting characters. I look forward to reading more from Ms. Gina Cooper!!!
As someone who generally reads dark romance, I wasn't sure about this one but I really enjoyed it. It was a really cute and sweet read. I enjoyed the characters, their backstory and the journey forward. I would consider this a feel good sweet love story that I would absolutely read again.
If you are looking for a change from your normal read, I recommend this one!

She is his best friend’s sister and was the girl who won his heart as teenagers. Now not only is she his physical therapist, she is also his neighbor. Can they keep their feelings private and only show a professional relationship?? Only time will tell.
I absolutely loved every vulnerable moment of this book. So much raw emotion and healing. Excellent.

This is a sweet, clean romance read. Sports themed among other things. Our main characters are Logan and Cassie and follows their journey from childhood to adulthood. Logan is an injured, star soccer player and Cassie is a member of the team's medical center who is now assigned to oversee his rehab. A captivating, second chance romance read that is sweet and feel good!

The story of Liam and Cassie. A time lapse occurs “while I took my broken heart and turned it into scoring records, she turned her ambition into medical degrees.” What happens when your entire identity is wrapped in what you do, not who you are? What happens when you never learned how to accept help? “Sometimes the hardest injuries to treat are the ones that…shake someone’s entire sense of self.” All the questions are answered but you will read the story to discover them.
Worst kept secret! Seems everyone but Logan and Cassie knew they were in love. This was a very entertaining story with Cassie dealing with Logan’s attitude, all the while trying to get him into top shape and maintaining some semblance of professional distance. Obviously they were as successful in the professional distancing part. I’ll admit I know nothing about soccer, I’ve never even watched a game but that didn’t stop me from enjoying this book.
Logan needs physical therapy from the best to get back to be the team’s top Striker but he wasn’t expecting that to be Cassie, his bestfriend’s sister and the one he never stopped loving. Cassie knows how to help her patients but she isn’t sure about allowing herself to finally take a chance on loving Logan.
A charming, slow burn, second chance romance. There is a lot of history between Logan and Cassie, his best friend's sister and new physical therapist. The tension and lingering feelings gave this book the perfect amount of anxious energy; waiting to see if they can rekindle the love that was once there or part ways.
One of my favorites from Gina Cooper - a sweet off-limits soccer romance. Loved characters, all of them, loved the story-line. And yes, sometimes the best healings come from breaking all rules and some recoveries heal more than just a body. Story of Logan and Cassie is really the comeback story of the century.

I had a hard time finishing this book. The preface for the plot was good and could have been so interesting, but there wasn’t a lot of plot development. Nothing made me want to turn to the next page. The entire book was written in a way that felt like I was reading the ending, and there were too many repetitive, lengthy descriptions that just bogged down the already slow story line.
Cute, sweet and captivating read. Well written with likable characters, it's enjoyable and entertaining. Recommend reading and look forward to reading more from Gina Cooper.

Logan and Cassie's story. Although Cassie's brother tries to interfere in the relationship. The couples feelings for each other persevere. Great story with a HEA. I received this book as an ARC an am happy to leave a review
