Country Cottage Mysteries #29

A Whisker in the Night

Rate this book
It’s Easter in Cider Cove and along with it comes chocolate bunnies, candy-coated chaos, and a basket full of murder. These talking pets solve crimes!
An innkeeper who reads minds. A cozy lending library. An ornery detective. Talking pets and a trail of bodies. Cider Cove is the premier destination for murder.
The inn is buzzing with the Chocolate Bunny Hop Festival, and between running the event and helping Emmie prepare for her baby’s arrival, I’ve got enough on my plate to keep me hopping. But when a notoriously ruthless resident is found dead, the sweetness sours fast.

With enough betrayal and secrets to fill a dozen Easter baskets, not to mention the fact that one of my friends is framed for the crime, I can’t sit this one out. The killer’s trail is as tangled as Easter grass, and the closer I get to the truth, the clearer it becomes—someone in town wants me to hop out of the picture—for good.

This Easter, the only thing sweeter than chocolate is justice. That is, if I can survive long enough to serve it.

Love talking pets and cozy country inns? Then welcome to the Country Cottage Inn. The Easter bunny is on his way and so is a killer.

The Country Cottage Inn is known for its hospitality. Leaving can be murder.

Book 29 and I still can’t get enough of this cozy, chaotic, candy-coated world Addison Moore has built in Cider Cove. A Whisker in the Night brought back everything I adore about the Country Cottage Mysteries—charming small-town antics, laugh-out-loud dialogue, a purring sidekick with plenty of cattitude, and of course… murder with a side of mischief.

The Easter Bunny Hop Festival was supposed to be sweet—literally. I could almost smell the chocolate bunnies and sugary chaos as I read. But Addison Moore knows just how to sprinkle in the suspense to make every page addictive. The murder mystery in this one? Chef’s kiss. Twists tighter than a pastel ribbon, secrets layered like a carrot cake, and red herrings as sneaky as a sugar rush crash.

And can we talk about how invested I’ve become in this crew? Between the impending baby arrival (cue all the feels 😭) and a friend getting framed for murder, I was gripping my Kindle and muttering, “Oh no they didn’t.” This story really pulls at the heartstrings while keeping things fast-paced and witty.

There’s such a perfect balance here—small-town coziness, endearing recurring characters, a touch of romance, and that signature sass I’ve come to crave. Addison gives us clever clues, loveable animals (hello, talking pets!), and a heroine who refuses to back down, no matter how tangled the Easter grass gets.

Honestly? This book reminded me why I fell in love with cozy mysteries in the first place. It’s got the vibe—lighthearted but not fluffy, mysterious but not dark, and full of that warm, quirky charm that makes me want to check into the Country Cottage Inn myself (but maybe not during a murder investigation 😅).

Bonus? The recipe at the end! Always a fun treat.

If you love holidays, humor, and a heroine who doesn’t mind poking around for clues (even if it lands her on a killer’s naughty list), A Whisker in the Night will absolutely fill your basket. Hop to it—you won’t regret it!.

The Country Cottage Inn is hosting the Chocolate Bunny Hop Festival and Bizzy Baker Wilder is up to her eyeballs in decadent chocolate treats. And since she’s eating for two, she’s indulging her sweet tooth to the max. Unfortunately, it’s not a happy Easter for one resident of Cider Cove. When Bizzy and her faithful pets Fish and Sherlock find a lost kitten near the woods, they also find its owner dead. Despite Jasper wishing she would sit this one out, Bizzy is on the case. Can her special talent of reading minds help her find the killer?

Return to Cider Cove, Maine for another light-hearted cozy mystery from Addison Moore and Bellamy Bloom. As always you can expect a clever mystery, a transmundane heroine who will out detect her significant other, charming pets, outrageous shenanigans from older friends and family, and plenty of delicious sounding treats. Each mystery can stand alone so you can jump in the series wherever you want. Long time series readers will celebrate Emmie’s and Leo’s bundle of joy. Bizzy also gets a tantalizing reveal that left me anticipating the next book.

It's Easter time in Cider Cove. Everyone is enjoying all of the holiday events starting with the Easter Hop at the Country Cottage Inn. Unfortunately, an unexpected death occurs at the event. Bizzy Baker is the owner of the Inn and she and her best friend Emmie are due to have their first babies soon. Bizzy's detective husband, Jasper, does not want her involved in any way and certainly not by trying to solve this complicated murder. Clues seem to point all over the place as to who might be responsible for the death. Who will find the clues needed to solve this ghastly crime first? And, can Bizzy stay away from trying to solve the murder...

Chocolate, babies, bunnies, and murder?!? Poor Bizzy has baby brain, helping Emmie prepare for her little bundle of joy, hosting the Easter Chocolate Bunny Hop Festival, and running the inn. Add a murder to the mix and Bizzy will have her hands too full. With Bizzy well into her pregnancy, Jasper her lead homicide detective husband, wants her well away from catching a killer. But with Bizzy’s zany family and friends, furry brood, and help with a new fur-baby, Jellybean, solving this murder is top priority. Can Bizzy catch a killer before they hop away? Read this, the 29th book in the Country Cottage Mysteries (can be read as standalone books) to find out.

A Whisker in the Night is book #29 in the Country Cottage Mysteries series by Addison Moore and Bellamy Bloom.

This was another fun visit to Cider Cove. It’s time for the Chocolate Bunny Hop Festival being held on the Cider Grove grounds. Bizzy can read minds, including most animals. I loved how Fish, her cat, encouraged her in the chocolate bunny eating contest. There is a murder and Bizzy does her best to stay out of trouble since she is pregnant, but without much success. This was an entertaining Easter-themed cozy mystery. As much as I enjoyed the mystery, my favorite part is the characters and having seen them develop through the series. I can’t wait for the next book!

An Easter chocolate bunny eating contest starts a story with the most chocolate of any book anywhere! I gained 5 lbs just reading it! There is no shortage of pregnant ladies, laughs, or suspense and in true form for Bizzi, she finds a murdered victim. The list of suspects are plenty and the interviews are many. But, don't despair, there is chocolate consumed after each one! Who was the murderer? I imaging that is the smallest question. Will there be new additions to the town's population? Humm..let me think..you are going to have to read this book. Thank you for a most enjoyable book!

This is a fun easy to read cozy murder mystery staring Bizzy who can read minds of people and animals. In this book and series most everyone is related to each other or connected by previous relationships, surrounded by lots of furry animals, and food being consumed in mass quantities. Outrageous antics are common keeping the story funny. The mystery gets solved by the end of the book and the subplots of the main characters' relationships keep revolving. It is an enjoyable book.

- Cozy mystery
- Mind reading

This series is so wonderful. Full of quirky characters (Georgie) and adorable furry sidekicks, I read this story in a single day. Bizzy is back, trying to stay out of trouble since she is pregnant. But trouble always seems to find Bizzy and before she knows it, she's found another body.

The case is intriguing to Bizzy and soon she and her bestie Emmie are searching for answers.

The story is fast paced and has a lot of twists to keep the reader guessing.

Another trip to Cider Cove and it's Easter time. Bizzy is very much pregnant but that doesn't stop her from stepping up to the plate when she finds a body at the Easter festival! Between her ability to read minds and the antics of her two pets Fish and Sherlock, there are plenty of laughs along the way as she searches for the killer! As in all of the books in this series, the well-written story and quirky characters will keep you entertained as you try to figure out who the killer is before the end of the book!

An Easter casket!

Easter in Cider Cove is stuffed with chocolate but the real surprise is a body in the woods! Bizzy is eating for two, or maybe an entire football team, but being pregnant will not keep her from following the trail of the killer and her furry friends are there to help her.

This fun cozy kept me laughing at all the Easter mayhem. I received a free copy, but my review was honest and voluntary.

Bizzy and her family and friends are hilarious. The pregnancy tidbits are very true. Maybe I should have ordered bamboo sheets from Japan. No, I was fine floating on an epidural cloud. That birthing plan was crazy. As usual, Bizzy captures the murderer. Constantly moving action with a few surprises along the way. Cannot wait for the next book.

This was an enjoyable Easter-based cozy with a paranormal twist. After a chocolate bunny food contest, a body is found. There are a number of twists and turns to find the culprit. I love the animals in the story who can communicate with the lead character. Some of their zingers are hilarious. This is a part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

The Country Cottage Inn in Cider Cove is known for its hospitality, so it is very busy for easter. Bizzy Baker runs the Country Cottage Inn, and can also read minds. This year Bizzy is also running the Chocolate Bunny Hop Festival, add in a murder and you a cute easy-to-read mystery!.

Addison Moore stories never disappoint and this one was perfect for the spring Easter season! Who knew murder could be so full of fun and laughter?! It's well written with equal parts humor and drama with just enough of both to keep you hooked to the end. This is definitely an entertaining page turner. I'm absolutely in love with this entire series!.

This is the perfect time of year and month actually to read this book. Also mind reading. Using mind reading gave a very unique and unexpected dimension to this book. I came for the close-knit community of characters and stayed for the unexpected dimension.

Bizzy is definitely a murder magnet! I wonder how she will solve mysteries once her baby arrives. I am guessing her baby will become a sleuth as well. I wonder if she will hurtle headlong into danger with her child in tow. I am guessing that she just acts on instinct and doesn’t realize the danger until she is in it. This series is a ton of fun to read!

I was so thrilled when I saw there was another book in the series. I have missed it. The hijinks that Bizzie and her crew get involved are legendary and this book was no different. I do think that Georgia may have outdone herself. Wonderful story and characters. I strongly recommend both this book and the series.

It's Easter in Cider Cove and Bizzy is helping with the Chocolate Bunny Hop festival. Unfortunately, Easter and chocolate bunnies are not the only thing that's keeping her busy. A killer is on the loose and Bizzy and her sidekicks need to find the killer before they might be next.

Even after as many books as this series has, it is still hitting its mark. The story is always compelling and attention-grabbing. The characters are relatable and also fantastically imaginative. I had a great time reading this story and I look forward to reading more.
