I think the best part of this book are the beautiful color photographs. Landscapes with vineyards are inherently beautiful, and the author does not disappoint. There is a very good explanation of the Missoula Floods and how they created the unique soil in Eastern Washington that turned out to be excellent for vineyards. The author visited many wineries and was able to document the winemakers at work through interviews and photographs.
The book consists almost entirely of photographs with brief captions. I wish the captions were longer, because the winemakers have wonderful stories that could have been told with more detail.
