Esu on the 23:50 to Gravesend

Rate this book
Folasade’s Eve of Christmas Eve was supposed to be a simple late-night train ride home—until thick fog brought the train to a halt, and everyone else on board vanished. Left alone with a mysterious, handsome stranger named Kunle, Folasade finds herself in a mist-filled compartment.

They encounter Esu, the mischievous Yoruba deity of crossroads and fate, who reveals they’re each standing at a personal crossroad. To move forward, Folasade and Kunle must face their deepest fears and hidden desires—through Esu’s carefully crafted “games” that will test their resilience and force them to confront the parts of themselves they want to keep buried.

As they journey together through memories of regret, long-buried hopes, and newfound vulnerabilities, Folasade and Kunle discover their lives may be intertwined in ways they never expected. What starts as an eerie, supernatural encounter transforms into a night of self-discovery and the possibility of love—if they can find the courage to embrace it.

This Christmas, two strangers might just find a connection strong enough to defy even the trickiest of gods.

At first, I was genuinely confused on what was going on lol but it got better and was a very quick read. It has sprinkle of Yoruba mythology (with the presence of Esu) and it’s just really cool.
Thank you to the author for the ARC copy <3
