Working in one of Odessa's busiest emergency departments, Eliza Moore never expected to find her true purpose through the suffering of her patients. As a trained nurse, she knew her duty required care and compassion, to help those in need heal from their injuries and illnesses. What she didn't see coming was bureaucratic red tape forcing her to ignore the mistreatment and suffering, to turn a blind eye when the victims needed her most.
After witnessing yet another abused woman walk through her unit and return right back to the evil tormenting her, Eliza forces herself to take action to save a young mom from the horrors of domestic violence. But once unleashed, this executioner soon discovers there's more power in breaking the rules than following them, and she's not about to give up her newfound calling. With a taste for vengeance, will this angel of death finally help those trapped in the violence, or does ending perpetrators with lethal efficiency send Eliza spiraling down toward her own doom?To the brave souls who navigate the darkness of suffering and violence, seeking hope among despair. Your strength inspires the fight for justice and compassion in a world often shrouded in silence.
For the healers who stand at the crossroads of compassion and fury. To every person who has ever felt trapped between the desire for justice and the weight of the world.
And to the readers, thank you for joining Eliza on this journey of healing, vengeance, and self-discovery.
Your willingness to explore the shadows alongside her is a testament to the power of storytelling in illuminating the human experience.
Received this book on a Goodreads Giveaway. What a thrilling ride this book was. The rating is closer to four and half stars. The author understands what sort of feelings nurses go through and what sort of things happen during shifts. The plot moves along at brisk pace and will keep you going to the end.
You can see it, feel it, and watch everything come to life in this gripping narrative. Set in a real city rather than a fictional paradise or a distant galaxy, Eliza’s story pulsates with intensity as she navigates the hidden struggles of defending her patients behind the scenes. The author skillfully weaves emotions and vivid details. Every street and highway is so accurately depicted that you could pull it up on a map to trace her journey. I found it impossible to put this book down. With 28 chapters detailing Eliza's mission, it’s an engaging experience that keeps you captivated. Unlike many other authors, this one avoids the overuse of profanity, making it a fantastic read for fans of murder mysteries and medical thrillers alike. Highly recommended!
This book takes you on an emotional and intense journey alongside Eliza Moore, from her role as a nurse in an overwhelmed emergency department to her transformation into a complex figure driven by her desire for justice. The author tackles difficult subjects fearlessly, creating a narrative that feels both raw and powerful. Eliza’s internal struggles and her quest for what she believes is right grip you from start to finish. The characters are deeply developed, and Eliza, in particular, feels remarkably real. Watching her evolve is captivating, and even as her choices become darker, you can't help but root for her. The book raises challenging questions about morality and justice, all while delivering a fast-paced and compelling plot.
This story lingers long after the final page. It’s hard to set down, and even more challenging to stop contemplating once you’re done. For anyone seeking a thought-provoking, character-driven tale that explores the complexities of life’s gray areas, you won’t be disappointed. Additionally, be sure to check out the podcast by Fox Publishers that discusses this remarkable book. It received a glowing 5-star review on YouTube Podcast, highlighting just how impactful Eliza’s journey really is! And ive noticed even the audiobook really makes this book come to life.
There's too many people on goodreads who just browse around slapping a 1 star on everything. Eliza was a brilliant production and the audiobook was even better as it came out in two different covers, light grey and dark grey and each one has a different narrator. Although this book is on its way in the future of becoming a movie. Fox Publishers gave it a 5 star review in front of million of people. Without giving the book away, this is real, impactful...You can feel it as if you were there. There's real streets and locations, it makes you feel that perhaps Eliza is real. After all the emotions that are felt on each page, you get a wonderful picture of the daily life and environment Eliza is in. And even more than that, Eliza hits a breaking point, the families, the children, the lifestyle all change. I feel Gary did such a wonderful job on this, i'm going to get one in each cover because this is a keeper. And if you don't like books get that Audible, two different to choose from at the authors website, grab that and i dare you to feel these adventures. PS.. The dark grey narrator Marissa Grey is a famous voiceover, actress for Disney. But the light grey cover audiobook by Miranda Elizabeth is a singer, songwriter, actress and will bring the story, increasing little by little, that you'll feel the intensity more than any audiobook out there!
I'm not a nurse and don't work in a hospital, so I don't see all the horrible things they see. There is a part of me that knows what Eliza does is wrong and another part that applauds her for doing what she does. The old moral dilemma. It is a very well written story that really makes one think. A good book!
I wanted to love this book, I did. But, I just didn’t. It had so much potential but imo was very poorly written. It didn’t flow very well, and concentrated too much on the wrong parts of the story. I gave 2 stars because I did like the “avenging angel” angle the plot took on and because it had potential.
I found the main character very interesting. Although I don't agree with what she did, it does raise moral questions and gives you something to think about. Thanks for the free book.
