Excellent introduction to the basics of creating and operating a sourcing function for your company. Cover the basics of negotiations, finding and creating great vendor relationships, cost of quality, true costs of procurement. Discredits years of erroneous assumptions on obtaining the best prices, the failure of win-lose negotiations, and adversarial business relationships. Great checklist for creating, training, and empowering a sourcing staff, and thorough introduction into doing business in the Far East countries such as Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and most recently, China. An overall excellent introductory manual.
