When the sun became dark one day, people wondered why its light had disappeared. The Prophet Muhammad (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) quickly went to the masjid, where he led everyone in prayer until the sun shone brightly again. On that same day, the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had lost his beloved son, Ibrahim (may Allah be pleased with him), and some thought the eclipse was because of his passing. But the Prophet (may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) taught them an important the sun and the moon are two signs from the signs of Allah, and they don’t eclipse for anyone’s birth or death. Instead, he told us to pray and turn to Allah during an eclipse. This story is authentic, told to us by the noble Companions of the Prophet (may Allah be pleased with them), and was collected by Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) in his Sahih.
