Till Death Do Us Lie

Rate this book
They told me an alpha’s daughter must choose a man to take the rank and position of Alpha of her pack.

Why?

They said I was too fierce, too headstrong, that this was my father's last wish.

Was it?

They picked out potential partners and pushed their top choice forward. They said he's the best man for the job.

Was he?

Lies.

In this labyrinth of deceit and manipulation, a twisted game of power and betrayal is at play. They think I have nothing but they're wrong.

I have two men ready to stand by my side.

Julian Knight, my bodyguard. A man they don't realise is ready to d!e for me.

And Quade Steele, the Lycan King. A man as dangerously powerful as he is handsome, offers me his partnership. I know he has his own agenda, but what is it?

I'll pay any price for revenge because I am the very storm that will destroy them all.

I’ll reclaim what’s mine, turn the world on its axis, and become the ultimate master of the very game created to ruin me.

My name is Layla Blackwell and I'm nobody's b!tch.

Moonlight Muse's TILL DEATH DO US LIE is a razor-sharp, addicting slide into power, betrayal, and the nuanced violence of being underestimated that gripped me from its very first page. Layla Blackwell refuses to thin out, and her reluctance motivates every chapter with tremendous suspense, she is not a pawn trained to yield over power, she is a storm that studies the map before attackinga! The plot was very well constructed and the details were chef's kiss, an alpha's daughter is forced to choose a partner to reign in her place... but the execution is stunning in how it deconstructs that assumption, every relationship feels complicated, and every alliance is questionable. I questioned everyone! More than once. The book thrives on uncertainty and never lets go of its grasp!
.
Layla has a stunning personality that is strong with such emotional depth, her resistance is thoughtful, proprioceptive awareness of the environment, of threat, and of weakness, she watches, absorbs, and then moves! This keen instinct keeps the tension tense. She is surrounded by men who believe they can control her fate, yet she repeatedly shows to be the most dangerous player on the table, the suspense is not only about who betrays whom, but also about whether Layla will come after them first!
.
Quade Steele, the Lycan King, walks the morally problematic line with absolute confidence, he's obsessive, possessive, slightly insane, and utterly committed to disaster, in such intriguing style he does not soften himself to appear likable, which makes him far more interesting, his evolution is one of the book's most compelling elements; by the end, he reveals that he is more than a deadly deal with a heartbeat! Julian, faithful and strong, makes for a quieter contrast. That ultimate bombshell involving his true mate hits hard, creating a further layer of emotional damage, the conversation amongst the men was sharp and humorous, it delivers an unexpected respite before things crash back into perspective!
.
Lies are the novel's true driving force. Untruths pile on deceptions until everything you believed to be true is changed when it is revealed that Tray was pulling the strings, in dark romance, the psychological push and pull is critical but the suspense occasionally surpasses the plot mechanics! The imbalance in power, control, and secrets is systematic and ongoing, the cliffhangers are brutal, there are more twists than licorice and I didn't manage to anticipate what was to come, it's an entertaining, dynamic shifter romance that has a strong tendency toward messiness and territoriality. It was definitely addictive and well worth the ride!

This standalone from Muse does not disappoint. It’s full of twists and turns and then something you never saw coming. The relationship between Layla, Quade and Julian is a complicate one built on lies. Layla struggles to work out what to believe, especially when she discovers the two men in her life are not who they seem. It keeps you on your toes until the end and some of the revelations will make sense but leave you shocked initially.

I love the relationship between the three main leads. Quade is this brooding Lycan King who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. He carries a hidden secret from his childhood which has made him hold back on claiming the woman he loves. Layla is an Alpha’s daughter who has given up her Alpha status to her fiancée but when she finds out he has been cheating on her and is not the person she thought he was, her plans change to revenge and getting her Alpha status back. Julian is Layla’s trusted bodyguard. He is the one person she thought she could rely on until secrets start to unravel and she discovers their relationship is more than what she believed. Both men believe this is the best way to protect her but when the past catches up to them and the magic wears off, they decide the truth is the best way forward.

Fantastic book and is one that can be read over and over again discovering more little details on each read. Loved it!

This was a little different than any other Muse book I have read yet was still an exceptional book and I loved that it was something different so I didn't know what to expect. I have wanted to read this book for a good while and I am so thankful to Muse for giving me the opportunity to now.

This book follows the journey of Layla, Quade and Julian as they each try to find out the mysteries surrounding them ultimately realising they need to work together to do so while also fighting against the pull Layla feels for them both and they to her...which will Layla feel the stronger pull with?

I can't go into a lot of detail about this book because it is filled with mystery, suspense and twist. It was an absolute thrill reading this, my mind was constantly working trying to figure out why this happened or who is behind that and it meant I could barely put the book down, I was gripped from the get go and entranced with the characters.

As always with a Muse book each character was written with beautiful depth and layers upon layers to them, the plot flowed effortlessly and I was on the edge of my seat.

I was gifted an arc of this book and I have chosen to write a review based on my enjoyment of the book.

I absolutely loved this 🥹 I've been in a bit of a reading slump over the past few months and have been having to really power through the books I've been reading, lucky to read a few chapters a night before bed. I can honestly say this book pulled me out of it. For the first time in months I just couldn't put it down and found myself reading through the day again too. I even took my Kindle on the school run with me so that I could read it in the car whilst waiting for the school gates to open 🤣 I read the whole thing in just over 24 hours.

It left me with questions that I desperately needed the answers to from the first few chapters. The twists and turns were brilliant, I thought I had it figured out from quite early on (I read a lot of thrillers so I was analysing it all the way through 🤣) but I was massively wrong, and didn't actually click on about it until near the end.

I'm so glad that Julian got his happy ending too and I look forward to reading the bonus chapters. I loved all the the MCs but I had a little soft spot for Nikita and had a feeling that she would turn out to be good in the end 🥰

If I could maybe change one thing it would be to possibly add an epilogue. I would have loved to see Layla and Quade as parents. Even still it was a brilliant read 🥰🌟

This book was amazing! Again another outstanding book by this incredible author.

The lies and twists and turns that this book took left you guessing the whole way. You will not be able to put this book down until you uncover every single truth.

Layla becomes aware of the lies people are hiding from her, but to uncover the lies she must team up with people who have also been lying to her. In a world full of lies how will Layla know what is the truth and what’s not? Who can she trust? Who is really on her side?

I loved this book, it was thoroughly entertaining. Just when I thought I was getting closer to the truth, another lie was revealed. I loved the writing style as always, the way Moonlight Muse can suck her readers in from the very first page and keep that same level of engagement throughout the whole book is such an incredible talent.

Till Death Do Us Lie is a genuinely captivating and non-stop standalone read that demands attention from the first page. It maintains a relentless, breath-holding pace, meticulously constructed with intricate twists, sharp turns, and a climactic, shocking revelation that readers will truly not see coming.

The novel’s compelling power is rooted in the complex, tumultuous love triangle at its core, involving Layla, Quade, and Julian. This foundation is precariously built on layers of deception and untold truths, with a crucial early conflict stemming from the men's initial choice to deliberately deceive Layla, believing it offers her the best protection.

However, as the long-buried past intervenes and their own magical strengths diminish under the strain of their lies, they realise a profound truth: only a complete and honest reckoning can pave the way forward for all of them.

The narrative expertly includes just enough "spicy" moments of intense romantic and physical passion to beautifully complement the story without ever overwhelming it, leaving readers eagerly wanting more. This novel stands as yet another superb, must-read offering from the exceptionally talented Moonlight Muse!

This book had me on edge and second-guessing everyone until the very end! The story centered around Layla, and I absolutely loved seeing her resilience and how she always fought for what was right. I wasn’t so sure about Quade at first, but his character development was amazing—he really proved himself as the true main character!

Julian felt a bit pushed to the side, but that twist with his real mate at the end? So good! The suspense throughout the story, and the reveal that Tray was the one pulling all the strings? Mind-blowing!

I do wish we got to see more of Quade and Layla as parents, and Julian and Nikita as a couple. I feel like there’s still so much to explore in this story… maybe we’ll get answers to those questions soon!

“You are my doll and not to play house with, but to play ‘with’.”

Well... that was... wow... I will say, I was team the one who didn't win, but I'm not even mad about the results because holy shit that was a lot more twists than what I had guessed.

This story kept me on my toes, guessing and throwing around theories from beginning to end. I did get a couple of things right, but I must admit that there were some things that I did not see coming at all. Absolutely enjoyed every minute of this story.

In the arms of someone I don’t really know, I feel safe.

This book was an absolute whirlwind to read! The lies everyone held close to their hearts caused chaos in the simplest of relationships and utter Turmoil for others.
This book followed Layla whose been betrayed by her fiance and joins forces with the lycan king to take back her pack, but there's a love triangle in amongst everything, and secrets and lies, what's real and what's not? the suspense of needing to know was stressful and had me taking guesses left, right and centre.

An absolute fantastic book to read when you want wolf shifters, but you want some betrayal and secrets to create a thrilling story.

I really enjoyed Layla, Quade and Julian's story. It was a twisty ride where I definitely went from Team Quade to Team Julian then back again. This story kept with me guessing the whole time and has more plot twists than my favorite rollercoaster. This was an easy, quick read that kept me on my toes and had me wishing for more. I recommend this book to anyone loving shifters and wanting a mind-f*@! experience.

*This book is a stand alone. Please check trigger warnings as some graphic violence occurs.

Twisted Web

Wow what twisted web is weaved! Layla, Julian and Quade are caught up in a mess of a plan that has sown discord for years. It was truly a heart wrenching, heart pounding and exquisite story where the plot kept me on the edge of my seat and feeling a mixture of emotions at every turn. Moonlight Muse does an excellent job of keeping the reader guessing until the very last minute and it was suspenseful to say the least. When revelations arise, the truth shatters every thought but ends with a sense of satisfaction.

I am voluntarily leaving this review.

I am a huge fan of Muse and usually her books suck me right in. This one took me a little bit to get into but once I was in I was in. Layla, Quade and Julian's story was full of twists and kept me guessing the whole time. As soon as I thought I knew what was going on, it was flipped. Muse is a master of character development and never fails to draw you in. This story was a little different to her others I've read but has everything I love about her books. Definitely recommend reading.

The title is again the biggest clue of what to expect but nothing can prepare you for the amount of games, lies and deception. Every choice is a decision that can be your last one. I am so glad that Layla have people on her side that she can trust. And the boys...their banter is hilarious.

Muse stepped into the world of paranormal suspense/ thriller for this one.
Although it wasn’t my favorite of her books, it was fascinating to see her manipulate your mind with this standalone thriller. This book definitely keeps you on your toes and you don’t know what’s going to happen next.

Till Death Do Us Lie by Moonlight Muse was not at all what I expected. It is so much more! This read is filled with so much suspense & mystery. I was on edge the entire time, trying to guess what was going on. Quade & Layla ended up being fated mates, they got their happy ending. Layla is definitely a Boss Babe! This book is for anyone who decided not to settle, that you are made for more & remember your only limit is your self. This book is so good! Not to mention it has just enough spice to keep you wanting more. I also can't wait to see what happens with Julian & Nikita! I would be happy to see a Novella for them.....😜! Another great read from Moonlight Muse!

The MMC is obsessive, possessive, slightly unhinged, and very much living in his own morally grey universe. I liked that he fully committed to the chaos. No half measures. If you’re going to be toxic, at least be interesting about it.

The tension carried the book more than the plot. It’s very much about power, control, secrets, and that constant psychological push and pull. You feel the imbalance.

Solid dark romance. Good if you want possessive and messy. Not top tier of the genre, but it delivers the vibe.

Till Death Do Us Lie by Moonlight Muse

4.5 Star
3 Spice

Now I would like to state for the record. I was #Team Quade all the way. This thrilling , yes thrilling standalone Book from Muse

It has so many twist and turns. Just when you thought you may have an inkling of the outcome, the rug gets pulled out from under you and you have to rethink the whole possible outcomes.I liked that the spice was there but not overdone. The chemistry between the characters was titillating enough.

The characters are all strong leads in their own right. Layla, strong, beautiful and capable of anything she sets her mind to. Then you have Quade Steele. He is arrogant to a point, devishly handsome and not afraid to do what is needed to get what he wants, even through deceit. Then you have Julian. Also handsome but loyal and protective of Layla, even though he is being dishonest. The lads are keeping secrets and Layla isn’t having a bar of it.

It isn’t your usual genre by Muse, but it is a great testament to her ability to push her boundaries and try different storylines. I loved it even though I never get any of the theories right. Would I recommend of course, it is a brilliant piece. Thank you Muse for the opportunity of receiving an ARC copy. I never give spoilers, as each reader needs to form their own opinion. Let’s just say it isn’t what it seems.
