“Fallen And Divine ~ When Worlds Collide" is Book One in the "Fallen And Divine" series. 16 + YA dark paranormal romance / romantasy.
This book had such a unique storyline and it was so different from anything I have ever read. It’s an extremely romantic paranormal romance with magical elements!! This was one of those books that would make an amazing movie!! Between the angst and where the storyline is supposed to go, I can not wait to see where this story goes!! (Book one is YA but the series overall ends up being NA while the story goes on as the FMC ages)
A unique paranormal romance that truly takes you beyond the veil. It has been an honour and adventure to be a beta reader for Angeline Ashera's first novel "Fallen and Divine: When Worlds Collide" This series is unique for many reasons but mostly because it contains the spiritual reality wrapped in a romantasy, exploring the hidden realms. It's a story of personal empowerment and spiritual awakening. A beautiful soulmate romance. A powerful story of redemptive love. Angeline's writing is immersive and enthralling. She is not only an excellent writer but also captivates you with her storytelling in this beautifully romantic and thrilling tale. I felt like I was on the edge of my seat as I couldn't wait to see what happened next. I'm a voracious reader who really enjoys reading a good series and this one is off to an amazing start! Highly unique, it's a book unlike any other paranormal romance or fantasy l've read. I also appreciate the inclusivity of Igbt+ and marginalized characters. Most important there is the ever present theme that light and love always prevails over darkness.
Scarlett is a a young lady with special talents and a traumatic past, haunted by dreams of her long-lost twin brother, searching for answers.
This book was a little slow to start, with a lot of worldbuilding in between because it's not your regular paranormal/urban fantasy book. It features angels and vampires, though not in the way one might think. When the action finally hits, it goes off with a deliciously spooky start with Halloween vibes, then ends on a cliffhanger.
I enjoyed the vampire references, including those of my favorites - Louis and Lestat. Music is a heavy focus in this book, and I am quite sure Lestat, who was a former rock singer himself, would have enjoyed the writer's homage to this. I loved the fact that the author even composed an entire song, which she put into the story.
This is a unique read for fans of paranormal romance, with angels and vampires, biblical references, soulmates, with mental health and diversity representation.
This is a romance-driven paranormal story with so much magic and fun dialogue. The characters are loveable, the plot engaging, and plenty of tension. This book sets so much up for the reader to fall in love with. The storytelling is unique, relatable characters, and completely refreshing. So often, we are presented very "similar" style books in this genre, but Ashera challenges that with Fallen and Divine, presenting a new style of paranormal romance.
A love story from start to finish, filled with passion, poetry and music. World building that spans the ages to entice and enthrall you. Redemption, edgy complex characters, dark vs light. Destiny, soulmates, mystery and intrigue.
This story rang true for the 16-22yr old in me. “The Squad” was delightful! I really enjoyed how this book started, the mystery and fascination and banter between Scarlett and her friends was so fun! The emotional conflicts and struggles I can all too well recall myself! With a “tad more” mysticism than I got to experience in my late teens!
The ethereal world is brought forefront and made tangible and powerful in Angeline’s storytelling, and so beautifully descriptive! Tender romance and pulse racing twists and turns with an ending that will keep you right on the edge of your seat.
I loved the highlighting and importance of mental health, healing and impact of PTSD and trauma. There was no washing over any of this; very refreshing to see!
A paranormal, urban fantasy with deliciously sweet romance, that drives our heroine to discover the truths about who she is and the secrets buried deep within the universe.
Can love prevail and overcome all odds?
YA 16+ Age gap. Spiritual / religious, biblical references / mystical. Paranormal, magical elements / clairvoyance / seer. Slow burn / no spice. PTSD and trauma references. Mental health advocates. Diverse representation.
I really liked the concept of the book, especially the creation of the types of vampires and the history of the Angels. I enjoyed the journey our MCs take on dealing with grief and PTSD. (But Scarlett needs some new friends, except Ezra, he’s cool!) I liked Azariel quite a bit and learning about his dark and haunting past. I also like his family he has surrounded himself with, they seem like wonderful people. The book did definitely read young for me (Scarlett just turned 18), and she has some growing up to do.
This is a great book about good vs evil/light vs dark and a journey through grief and dealing with traumatic events. I did enjoy the Vamp/Angel mythology but there was a little too much faith/religion based morals and scripture use for my liking. But that’s just me. If this is something you like then I believe you will highly enjoy this book!
A beautiful yet intriguing romantic story with just the right amount of romance, paranormal elements and mystery. A unique story centered around Vampires, a Fallen Angel and a young psychic coming into her own. Immersion world building, great side characters and endearing romance that proves that Light will always overcome the Dark......eventually.
From the start, I was sucked into this story and ready to go on an investigation with Scarlett and the “squad.”
I felt for how Scarlett grieved her brother’s abduction, feeling certain he is alive but not knowing where.
The story toggles between Scarlett and Azariel’s burgeoning romance, the mystery thriller of where Scarlett’s brother is, and explaining spiritual realms so there’s a lot going on but it’s all interesting.
There is a depth to the relationship between Scarlett and Azariel that was moving. I like that she sets boundaries with him and he respects them.
Angeline Ashera’s Fallen and Divine: When Worlds Collide is an interesting blend of the paranormal and spiritual realms. Her characters are dynamic and come to life through thoughtful and authentic dialogue.
Angeline Ashera creates a narrative that keeps her readers on the edge of their seats as she skillfully creates tension and chemistry between her two main characters, Scarlett and Azariel—whose relationship is a mixture of mystery and intrigue.
Their union is palpable!
Ashera’s descriptions of otherworldly realms and the internal conflict of her characters bring this story to life.
What I loved most was the overarching theme of love, conflict, and redemption that seems to transcend the story itself. Additional lessons of duality—light versus dark, free will versus destiny—offer the readers something to ponder, piquing curiosity beyond the romantic plot.
The cliffhanger ending left me wanting more, and I can’t wait for book two.
Prepare to lose yourself in this epic tale of love, sacrifice, and the eternal struggle between light and darkness.
I give Fallen and Divine by Angeline Ashera 5/5 stars.
