This is a moving and impacting read looking at a variety of murders from the late 60’s, early 70’s in Britain. It’s unlike most true crime books as Mr Farquhar delves into the impact on the families, the aftermath of the investigations, and looks at people caught up in the trauma. The cases are tragic, incredibly sad, and stay with you after you close the book.

There are no spoilers here so I don’t want to record too much detail but the motivations for some of the crimes are teased out so well that you almost feel for the perpetrators. But at no time is the victim forgotten and sometimes many years later they are still impacting the people involved.

Recommended if you enjoy true crime but want a little more context and social history.

A moving account of five different twentieth century murders, all of which were unknown to me. Simon Farquhar sensitively handles each case and explores the long-lasting impact of these senseless crimes.
