“What makes this novel stand out is its intricate world-building. The futuristic society is both imaginative and eerily plausible, with technology, surveillance, and hierarchy playing central roles in every character’s life. The protagonist's journey—from ignorance to awareness, from compliance to defiance—is gripping and emotionally resonant.” – Amazon Review
The main character is supposed to eventually write a book about a utopian society. He is involuntarily time traveled 300 years into the future because his book has not been written yet and the future AI thinks it could cause a shift in reality. I wish I could be more positive but I felt disappointed in this book. Initially I was put off by the writing style which was 95% dialogue. Then, I was put off by the fact the words used were in correct or didn’t make sense. I understand sometimes mistakes are made and try not to be worried about the exciting, but this was pretty noticeable and effected the ability to read and make sense of the story. The story isn’t exactly riveting. It’s just ok. I tried to get through it even though it was kind of boring. The thing that really set me off was that the story just abruptly ended as if the author got up to take a break and accidentally sent his book in to be published. There was nothing to indicate the story would end. There was no cliff hanger. He just stopped writing in the “middle” of the story. It is so odd! I will not be reading book #2, nor is it written yet. So this was a waste of my time. I do not recommend.
Imagine waking up 300 years in the future, and everything is actually good. No money, no war, no power-hungry institutions, just a world where kindness, connection, and appreciation rule. That’s exactly what Alex stumbles into in The Society by Radu Niculescu. And wow, it’s a ride.
In this futuristic utopia, even the humblest jobs are respected, people live in sync with nature, and relationships are built on genuine respect. Sounds dreamy, right? But the twist? The whole society runs on a book Alex unknowingly wrote. Yup. Future shock, much?
As Alex explores this mind-blowing world, he’s not just sightseeing, he’s changing. The open intimacy, the emotional freedom, the zero-judgment vibe… it forces him to face his own flaws and outdated beliefs. (Honestly, same, Alex. Same.)
But time’s ticking, and he has to return to his present, now with a mission. He wants to bring that future magic into today’s world. The big question? Can one person really rewrite the story of humanity?
If you're into sci-fi with soul, this one’s for you. The Society isn’t just a book, it’s a full-blown perspective shift.
The Society is a rare gem in speculative fiction a novel that doesn't rely on dystopia or disaster, but instead offers a beautifully imagined vision of what humanity could become. Radu Niculescu dares to present a future where people live without money, war, or centralized institutions, and somehow it feels not only possible but incredibly desirable. The story follows Alex, a time traveler who stumbles into this evolved world, only to discover that it was shaped by a book he unknowingly wrote. What follows is a powerful and emotional journey of self-discovery, philosophical awakening, and hope. This isn't a typical sci-fi novel it's a reflection on what truly matters, written with grace, depth, and an unwavering belief in human potential.
This book was everything I didn’t know I needed. In a time where most futuristic fiction thrives on collapse and conflict, The Society chooses to explore harmony, healing, and a society that thrives without conventional power structures. Radu Niculescu approaches big ideas like intimacy, governance, education, and contribution with gentle insight and radical imagination. Alex's emotional journey is incredibly relatable, and watching him shift from skepticism to understanding was one of the most rewarding parts of the book. This is fiction that nourishes the mind and heart. Highly recommended to readers who believe in the possibility of something better.
Radu Niculescu's The Society stands out as one of the most thought provoking novels I’ve read in recent years. It’s less about spectacle and more about substance, exploring a post-capitalist world where contribution, emotional connection, and spiritual well-being take precedence over ownership and competition. The fact that the protagonist unknowingly authored the guiding philosophy of this future adds a rich meta-layer that I found absolutely fascinating. The writing is clear and deliberate, the ideas bold but never preachy, and the message deeply needed in our current era. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for more than entertainment this is fiction with purpose.
The Society by Radu Niculescu is a labyrinth of intrigue, betrayal, and suspense. Niculescu’s portrayal of a secret society feels both mysterious and chilling. The narrative does an excellent job of peeling back layers to reveal hidden motives and twisted alliances, keeping the reader guessing. The complexity of the characters, each grappling with their own conflicting desires, adds a layer of depth to the already rich plot. If you’re a fan of thrillers with psychological depth, this book will definitely satisfy your craving for intrigue.
Niculescu’s writing is elegant, thoughtful, and profoundly compassionate. He doesn’t just build a utopia he explains it, nurtures it, and breathes life into it through Alex’s time traveling journey. What struck me most was how human the story felt, even in its advanced setting. Every character, every community, felt familiar not because they’re like us now, but because they reflect who we could be at our best.
The Society takes readers on a journey through a future where technology and humanity are seamlessly intertwined. The author has created a world that feels both hopeful and thought-provoking. I found myself reflecting on the beauty of a world where compassion and mutual respect are at the heart of society. Highly recommend!
