Lena was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
But somewhere between the chaos, the bruised trust, and the quiet pull of a man who never speaks, she started to belong.

Just when the ground begins to steady beneath her feet, the past she buried claws its way back—dragging her old life into the one she's barely begun to claim.

Now, with old enemies aligning and new bonds forming in the fire, Lena must run again, or stand her ground and fight for the only family that ever chose her.

We’re back where the last book left off—mid-chaos, still chasing Daisy and whoever’s helping her. I loved getting everyone’s POV again; it adds so much to the story, even though the romance is just between Lena and Nico. Speaking of which, this is a serious slow burn—we’re two books in and only just getting kisses! I wish there was a bit more focus on their relationship, but Nico is perfect for Lena 🩷

The found family vibe, especially between Lena and Malcolm, hit me hard in the best way. There’s so much drama, action, and betrayal—plus, Lena’s brother? Pure evil. And that ending?! I thought we were done, but apparently not—and honestly, I’m so here for whatever comes next!!

Book 2 finally arrived and as I expected the love interest I predicted happens. Totally anticlimactic

Overall the story was entertaining even if the Fmc and her naivety and emotional regression is grating. I love Malcolm more than ever but for a Don Scarface is portrayed as a fool who has no power or knowledge.

The whole love interest just falls flat as there has been nothing between them up until now.

When Isaac says they had been sneaking looks at each other for a while ? Really? When ?! And the crush? No looks or chemistry anywhere to make you think that. You are only aware there is an attraction when you get the mmc pov.

Ending on a cliffhanger so book 3 to come

Tropes:
Dark romance
Criminal world
Found family
Slow burn

This book picked up right where the last book started. I fell in love with these characters from the very first chapter. Lena goes trough a rollarcoaster ride but with all these men by her side I know she will pull trough.

These men are all AMAZING, I lovee that there are so many side characters with a bit of their own story, it added so much. I cannot get enough of Roman and Axel, they are the cutest!!. And her moments with Malcolm!!, that was something I did not see coming but needed desperately!.

And without spoiling to much, the tension between Lena and her man (I think she will end up with) was insane, like omg the little touches and the secret stares across the room, OMGGG. I actually really love the slow burn in this book, it really fits with the story, a rushed romance would've ruined the whole story. I cannot wait for the next book in this series!.

If you don't mind a real good slow burn with amazing characters and a insane found family than The criminal connections series is something you should start reading immediately!.

Beware it ends on a cliff hanger
I was so hesitant to read this book. Romance.io said it was closed door but that website has lied to me multiple times. And I also thought it was a reverse harem trope. It is not. And it’s closed door.
The FMC is hilarious. The way her wind works when she is translating her thought to English? I lol’d a few times.
This is a mafia and found family trope.
Some of the writing needed a little work. Slight sentence structure critique, maybe. But its quality is higher than Wattpad.
I throughly enjoyed this book. I can’t wait for the third one
The MMC are all hilarious as well. This book was just excellent
Also, I’m team Nico. The man is intriguing and maybe a little unhinged but he’s still great

I love it!!!!! The relationship she has with each men in this book is lovely especially the father daughter relationship between Lena and Malcolm.
I love it when Malcolm introduces her as his daughter when she was with him for a meeting. I loved how they all drop what they were doing to try find and rescue her from Daisy.
The cliffhanger in the end with a plot that append before the end is shocking and now having to wait for the final book come out. I really want to now what’s they are going to do now to get Daisy.

Lena can not catch a break, poor girl. A tiny time skip later and Lena is trying hard to cope with everything.
New problems come up around every corner and her past collides with her present.

I love how we get a bigger insight into the true nature of the basement gang and how they operate. Malcolm is such a great support for Lena
I was excited to see the romance factor slowly growing for Lena and Nico, which I surprisingly liked.

But I am absolutely dying over the cliffhanger 😭
I can’t wait for the final book
