The Mafia Heir's Obsession

Rate this book
He was never supposed to touch her. Now he'll burn the world to keep her.
Callahan Murphy is a ruthless Irish mafia boss with blood on his hands and vengeance in his veins. When he strikes a power deal with a New York crime family, marriage to the Don's daughter is just another strategic move—until everything goes to hell.

Because the bride he's promised? Vanishes. And her younger sister is offered in her place.

Lucia de Rosa is untouched, unwilling, and unprepared for the savage man who now claims her as his own. She thought this arrangement was temporary—a mistake that could be undone once her sister returned.

She was wrong.

When a violent night in Queens ends with her pinned beneath Callahan, gasping for breath and drowning in pleasure, she realizes her life will never be the same. He's her father's ally, her family's nightmare, and her most dangerous mistake.

But Lucia isn't the submissive bride Callahan expected. She fights him at every turn, challenging his authority and igniting a possessive hunger that threatens to consume them both. Every moment of defiance makes him want her more. Every touch makes her crave the very man she should fear.

He swore he'd never let her go. But when family secrets unravel and blood debts come due, their arranged marriage becomes a battlefield where love and loyalty collide.

In his world, she's not just a woman—she's a weapon, a weakness, a wife. And he'll kill anyone who touches her.

But when enemies close in and the past refuses to stay buried, Callahan will have to choose: protect his empire or save the woman who's become his everything.

Obsessive. Possessive. Unforgiving. Some marriages are made in heaven. Theirs was forged in blood.

A standalone dark mafia romance featuring an Irish alpha hero, forced marriage, enemies-to-lovers tension, and an HEA worth fighting for.

Alot of the mafia details were not nessecary. He was an asshole & disgusting. And I am not into humiliation. I can believe he is obsessed sure, but he didn’t love her. I skimmed through alot.

A little disappointing

I was excited to read this book but I really had a hard time getting into it. The plot and the writing was good. I just didn't like the characters I don't like an MMC that's willing to kill women and jokes about sharing his virgin wife. It didn't feel right that he took her to a sex club and she had to watch orgies and bang gangs he ties her up and gives her the impression that people can see through the glass even though it's not true. That sort of thing is just to turn off for me. I scrolled through most of the book although I did like the dog and the cat I just couldn't finish this book it did not hold my interest and it went on way too long. Others might enjoy it I didn't.

First of all, what on earth were people thinking when they rated this book anything higher than a one star?
Lucia and Cal's only connection is that they are physically attracted to each other. There is not a single moment in the entire book that I felt that they actually genuinely loved each other. The chemistry is almost non existent with the characters so stereotypical and 2D that it was laughable.
Also as I literally skimmed through their first meeting, I almost had to read the same thing three times to actually make sense of what was happening. He helps her, she runs, she meets him again, she runs and then he fingers her in the park. What the fuck is that sequence supposed to be? And throughout the book, there are going to be many such times, with its unnecessarily complicated plots and plethora of unwanted characters, where you go What in God's name is happening?

Also, I have nothing against the sheltered, innocent and weak FMC but when you show a female MC fighting in the intro scene, one might end up believing that she is the kind of strong and opinionated FMC, but Lucia is like a blackmarked disappointment. She has no common sense or reservations and any opinions or views she might have, melts before Cal's indigo eyes and amazing junk. It is so sad to see a supposedly rebel mafia princess FMC reduced to a woman who has nothing going on for her except being a sex slave to the MMC, whose only role is sit by the window with her cat and think about her hot, amazing husband.

And the MMC, God knows what he is supposed to be. He does not have a single good quality to him or form of showing love to the FMC than literally using her as a sex slave or throwing around that cliche "she is mine. Touch her, you die" vibes which is a signature to every mafia book. And how the hell does he just magically spawn out of nowhere? Whether she is kidnapped, is on a walk, or in a convo with her father, he just appears, like how buddy? You are some kind of genie? His dialogues are meant to be kind of like give off vibes of someone who is calculated and in control but they just come out sounding a man too horny to actually function or work as a mafia boss.
And the FMC's father who is supposed to be the main villain or atleast one of the antagonist, is the picture of a 13 yr old going sike. He asks the FMC to betray the MMC and when she calls to refuse, he is just like Good, u passed and then proceeds to betray the MMC, like Sir make up your mind. If I would have been the FMC, I would have literally looked him dead in the eyes like Dad, what the fuck do you want? You sold me to get Cal on your side, now you dont want him but also are praising me for being loyal to him and now you want Cal dead and out of your way. Did that make sense? No it didnt ? well sucks coz, that is literally one of the major plots of the book.

That reminds me the plot of the book, which is honestly a hot mess. There are so many unnnecessary characters which dont add anything to the plot and build ups which lead upto nothing in particular. The only reason I kept reading was because I kept hoping that something would happen which would justify the 4.10 star rating of this book, but I was sadly mistaken. What they have is not love, it just plain sexual attraction with a weird loose form of stockholm syndrome at best. The cliches of a mafia book like the kidnapping of the FMC, the Touch her you die, or when the MMC gets hurt are all added but god it feels so forced, and rather than helping the story move, they just seem to be added to act as percursor to a smut scene. He is hurt and bleeding, they have sex. She is kidnapped, they have sex. Someone touches her, they have sex. That's all there is to the book.
The supposed climaxes are predictable, the deep buried secrets are just like random things, and there are atleast three sub plots which had no necessary contribution to the story.

A disappointing, cliche story which has nothing new to offer to the genre.

Soo Good! You absolutely need this read...

You’ll be absorbed into this steamy page-turner; it’s full of everything we love about this author’s writing.

The family had arranged for her older sister, not Lucie, to be the one walking down the aisle. Fate dealt Lucie a double blow; first, she found herself the bride, and then, the handsome stranger from the night before emerged as the groom.

In Callahan, we find the perfect brooding, lethal Irish Mafia boss, thrilled that the woman destined to be his wife is the same one who captivated him the previous evening.

From beginning to end, Lucie and Callahan’s fiery romance and the story’s inherent dangers entertained me. I absolutely loved the storyline’s violence, family ties and betrayals, loyalties, sizzling scenes, and unpredictable twists!

I’m hooked on this author’s creation of compellingly flawed, dominant men in this world—capable of immense violence yet fiercely devoted—and their counterparts, the compassionate women who love them despite everything, holding their hearts with an unwavering devotion; a delicious blend of darkness and light. The tension between the brutal strength and genuine love creates an unforgettable experience.

This new series is a must-read; you’ll be absolutely entertained from the start, and once you finish, I highly recommend checking out the author’s other fantastic series.

I received an ARC (thank you) and happily leave my thoughts.

A beautiful love story of two people finally finding their soul mates.

Callahan and his brothers were checking out a nightclub waiting to make a hit when Cal noticed a girl with long legs wearing a fedora hat, coat and a mask. She was meeting this guy. They started talking and then the guy hit her but she hit him back but when he knocked her down and pointed a gun, Cal walked over and put him out of his misery. She ended up watching him take out the hit and then she ran. He chased her to. Several locations before he found her in the park. There was something about the mystery girl that he couldn’t shake. Cal was trying to further his family business and he signed an agreement with De Rosa Don and he was supposed to marry the oldest daughter but she ran away and that left Lucie to step up in the arranged marriage. On the day of their engagement party and marriage ceremony later that night he discovered that the girl he was marrying was the feisty Joy and she knew him as Frank. This was the beginning of Lucie Joy discovering exactly who she was and Cal realizing that he can really find the love of his life. In discovering each other, they dealt with betrayal and learning the man she thought was her father wasn’t really her father and he wanted her gone. But Cal always has her back even tho he hasn’t admitted his love for her. Beautiful love story of a man’s obsession for a woman he didn’t know was meant for him but he couldn’t let her go.

Cal and Lucie ❤️

This is a dark, hate to love, mafia romance. The blurb and teasers that I saw for this drew me in. I really liked the premise of this one. I also really liked the characters. Lucie was a spitfire and I liked her spirit. I always like a mafia man that’s only soft for the FMC so Cal is a MMC that I could get behind. I also enjoyed getting to know the other Murphy brothers. There were elements of a great story here but they just didn’t come together as a cohesive story in my opinion. I also couldn’t quite work out the tone of the story. Is this intended to be serious? Playful? Both? None of the above? It was hard to tell. There were several questions that were never answered either And don’t even get me started on that third act conflict. It made no sense to me. I liked this okay but I just couldn’t get over the finish line to loving it. Still, with a dash of danger and suspense, a dose of spice and a hearty happily ever after, it wasn’t a bad way to pass the time.

Truly Awesome

Loved Callahan & Lucie's love story.
Callahan made a deal with the mafia boss crook so he could grow his business in New York. Deal to marry his daughter. The chosen daughter ran away, and he end up marrying Lucie the girl he saved a few nights back.
Chemistry from the start lots of sparks. She's so spunky, full of life. She kept him on his toes!!!
Lots of adventures and suspense, not knowing what's around the corner. Lots of different emotions were felt throughout the whole story. The love, pain, joy, passion abuse, trust, faith, hope etc.
Many funny parts throughout his brothers are hilarious. Family being very important.
Always having each other's back.
Lucie, her pain was felt. Her father not really giving her much thought just used her put her in danger. Lots of action.
Falling in love changed everything for them. He was extra protective because of his lifestyle, and who was after them.
I enjoyed how everything came together.
Great start to the series. Look forward to Torin's love story adventures

So Hot!

I love this story ,it's a story that could go on and on and I would keep reading because I never want it to finish. Lucie was a girl with stars in her eyes, but strong, gutty girl, who isn't afraid for her self and in away a heart of gold.Callahan is a big strong mafia man who takes no crap from anyone until he meets Lucie and she can stomp on his heart and do no wrong.Callahan is set to marry her sister but she upset and disappears so Lucie is ordered to step and do her duty but when she does they both realized that they meant before and it does work out for Lucie,he treats her nicely,he is consistent, But Lucie soon fines answers about her father that maybe she didn't want to know about,it tears Callahan and Lucie apart but love plays a part in bringing them back! Story is worth more than five stars, doesn't lack for action,it makes you set on your edge of your seat.Enjoy,if you don't! read this story ,you are missing out on alot

❤️Thoughts❤️

This story moves quickly, which I really enjoyed. I absolutely loved Callahan and all of his obsessive, possessive ways when it came to Lucia. Their chemistry is off the charts, and they both fight their feelings for each other the entire time.

Lucia struggles with the truth about who her father really is, and as the story goes on, her naivety becomes frustrating (in a good, “I want to shake her” kind of way). There are a few twists I didn’t see coming, which kept things interesting.

The reason I rated this three stars, though, is that the ending felt rushed. For a story that hooked me right from the start, the conclusion didn’t quite deliver; it felt more like a quick fix than a true ending.

An exciting dark and spicy mafia romance.

The storyline is based on a Mafia Princess and her Smouldering, brooding, murderous Irish Mafia man who she is forced to marry in an arranged marriage.
My First Kirsten Luciani novel and I’m hooked.
The intricate character development made it easy to get to know the main characters and see their strengths and weaknesses.
Callahan was the Irish bad boy of both your nightmares as well as your dream’s. We all love a good dominant mummy’s boy. Who knows how to control you and worship you at the same time.
I fell in love with the FMC Lucie as you see her doe eyed innocence mesh perfectly with her inner strength and determination. Loved the story line, the spice was spicing 🌶️🌶️🌶️.
Cannot wait to read the next book in the series and get to know more of the men in this family
Absolutely a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️read

A surprising 4.5! Obviously this is not for someone who does not like a mafia and romance theme, but I was fully prepared to find this book ridiculous and cliche and it wasn't at all! Maybe it was and I haven't read enough of them to know, but regardless none of the characters annoyed me so I was thrilled. The characters, their reactions, and their dialogue was believable. The plot had some little twists and it was wrapped up nicely without needing an epilogue. The spice was very generous and very spicy. This is not a "they hook up once and then only again at the end" type book and I really appreciate that.

My only demerit was that I felt things could have been described a bit more. I understand that helps allow for a faster, frantic pace, but I still wanted things depicted more.

But yeah! If you like this mafia genre or are into spice this is completely worth the read.

Title: The Mafia Heir's Obsession (Mafia Obsession: Book 1)
Author: Kristen Luciani

Review: Okay...So my rating was generous, I will say that overall the book was okay, but I just didn't vibe with the MMC. Cal was a dick throughout and took advantage of Lucia and her innocence.

The FMC was so naive that I felt like smacking my head so many times, like c'mon girl!

There is a lot of mixed reviews for this book and I totally get it, I'm still undecided about if I liked it.
Some scenes were great and others not so much. Their connection didn't feel genuine and mostly just physical, I mean the smut scenes were great and all but it didn't make up for the rest of it.

There should always be a Declan in every series because he is hilarious, the family jokester. Do I want to read every other book in the series just to get to his... argh okay, twist my arm.

Such an amazing Mafia book!!

Callahan Murphy is everything a Mafia Boss should be. Ruthless, possessive, OTT protective and Lucia is a FMC who was taught to be this submissive little thing and yet she can't stop fighting him. I loved their banter from the start!! They weren't supposed to be together but they end up married and he saves her not only once but a couple of times. HEA

The MMC was in fact not morally grey, in that way where he does bad in the name of the greater good. He was legitimately a terrible person, a degrading husband, and overall ugly.
The book lacked a lot of character development, and was overall shallow for me. I just couldn’t really connect with the characters, and their reactions to what was happening is actually extremely weird and misplaced.
It really felt as though a 12 year old was processing the events.

All the feels...

...and then some! Some spice and some chemistry, too. I love a good mafia story and Luciani doesn't disappoint. Cal was a force but for Lucie Joy he was a gentle giant. I love how he handled her. I love how she was written as well - not all a naive damsel in distress but a woman who got it. Great story!

Yep, so the only thing I got from this book is the two characters love to have sex. There was no other basis to their relationship. Highlight of the book was probably Arnold and the kitten. This star is for them.

At this point, I should stop being swayed by bookstagram recommendations. I really hope I get out of this slump I'm in and can end 2025 on a good note.

overall, I really liked this. but I got extremely annoyed with how often both characters had to explicitly say how "dangerous, cruel, ruthless" the MMC was. like yes, we know. we've seen him 💀 MULTIPLE people, can we stop having to excessively say it outright

This was such an interesting story. It’s starts off typical Mafia plot. A cool twist that makes you cheer for the MC’s to get together. I love when a big o’l meany tough guy softens for his lady. Ugh, his possessive too…swoon.
