Of course I want the fairy tale, everyone does, but sometimes life does not afford us that. Backstage Passages is a story about a woman trying to find herself, despite the fact she has been seduced by a lavish romance with a high profile celebrity.
Morning radio talk show co-host Anne-Michael Sheraton, has the dream most young women would want come true for her. Through a strange turn of events she finds herself dating the lead singer of a popular band in the late 1980s.
It’s the innocence and excitement of Anne-Michael in her twenties that makes her character jump off the page. She has so many choices to make between her budding career and her budding romance; an ailing mother and life on the road. It takes a decade to realize that although these things are important factors in her life, they do not define her. She is more than a lover to Matty James and more than a caregiver to her mom.
We see the vast shifts and differences in two close friends when they are presented with the same kinds of situations and need to make life-altering decisions. Many of the questions raised revolve around how priorities change as we grow. Not all of our characters are at the same place in their lives at the same time, which makes it interesting to read what will happen next.
How tantalizing it is to get a glimpse behind the to go backstage and fall in love with Matty James! Readers will enjoy the glamorous and not-so-glamorous tales of life on the road and rubbing elbows with celebrities.
The story is very down to earth, relatable and full of witty banter. It’s a fun read that deals with some heavy topics in a light and entertaining way.
