A decent effort--I got through it, but it was one of the least inspiring running books I've read. The problem, I think, is that Maurer actually isn't that good of a writer. Also, there were occasional moments that made me think, "no way, that would never really happen." In Once a Runner, on the other hand, John L. Parker described my many of my experiences as a runner better than I could have myself.
