If you’re looking to test your private eye skills…
The detective/hero/writer was one to admire and believe in. Roped you in immediately. I read the whole series in under 3 weeks- when I wasn’t working full time-it was a ‘don’t put it down’ kind of book series. Aside from sometimes being too descriptive about the surroundings the writer/main character came across, the writer did treat each book as a stand alone referring to previous events and the characters involved to assure the reader of their contribution to the continued story line through all the books within the series as a whole.
Intriguing mysteries, main characters disappointing life
These stories were well written and compelled me to keep reading. However, the main character's personal life seemed unnecessarily sad. Maybe this is the way of English writers, but it grew tiresome with each novel. I couldn't find the wherewithal to read the last two novels.
The main character in all books is Ty, it takes a good long search for him to put all the information, clues, research together. The author has done a great job by the continuity of the book series. I appreciated that aspect.
These books are awesomely written! The author can make you feel like you're right in the action. She has a phenomenal way with words. The stories keep you guessing till the very end. I did not realize there is so much anger, hatred and evil in regular folk. Sad really.
A very good set of books. Each story went along with a good plot and finally a satisfying ending. The mysteries were well thought out and had many twists.
Mulroony writes well with good character development, engaging plot development, and interesting observations. In short, one of the most rewarding series I've read-and I've read hundreds of mysteries.
Firstly, if the star rating was out of ten, I would give a nine. Secondly the series titles are a little misleading as Tyrone Swift is a private investigator not a detective. He used to be, working in the Met and for Interpol. Tyrone solves cases by acting as a detective, asking so many questions and comes up trumps by not giving up. The police did on a number of these cases but our PI comes to the front by solving the unsolvable. For his troubles he regularly gets knocked about and comes very close to death. He has a very mixed bag of a love life, overall not successful at all. He keeps fit by the love of his life, rowing, a boat that is not being argumentative. The books are exceptionally well written, the storylines absorbing, how on earth the author thought of them I’ll never know. Definitely worth reading but remember he’s a PI not a detective so no police procedural.
