I think this book would be enjoyable to middle grade boys. There’s tactical fighting, huge physical rewards for progressing on one’s true path, in harmony with the rest of existence, and triumphing over one’s enemies, and mysterious god-like beings, whose apparent humanity may only be a (barely) comforting veneer.

Another Masterpiece
I don’t even know where to start. I’m still trying to catch my breath. This author took me on more than a Righteous Journey. He took me on a journey through a World that was so wonderfully built that I could smell, touch, and taste everything in it. It was a World where giants roamed, where warriors wore armor that grew with every battle—a World where the common people were called inferiors—a World where epic, intricate, and complex battles unfolded at every turn.
This story is about Mezzo-lord Adryan Sordyce, who was born to be a leader, but it’s going to take everything in him and more to fulfill his calling. His biggest rival is Mezzo-lord Yafeu, a man bigger and stronger than himself. The man above them both is Lord Danlee, who the Existence (God in this World) leads to groom Mezzo-lord Adryan to become leader of the Alkebulan Realm. This infuriates Yafeu and he plots to destroy Adryan.
In the interim, in order to become the ultimate leader, Adryan has to go on the Righteous Journey and this is where I found myself on the edge of my seat, biting my nails, and tugging on my hair. This author is so meticulous with every detail. It’s like you’re there experiencing everything yourself. There are a number of colorful and interesting characters all written uniquely. He makes you want to root for Adryan as he makes his way on his journey to the final gate. At each gate, the obstacles are brilliantly devised. This writer has to have a genius IQ. I don’t know how he comes up with this stuff. Wondering if Adryan was going to be successful had me swiping my phone like a mad woman. Will he survive? How is he going to get through this? You have to read the book to find out what happens.
Not only is this book action-packed, but it’s superbly written. The writing is beautiful. I have to say if Steven Spielberg and George Lucas had a baby, it would be this author. T.O. Burnett. They really need to check out this book. It could definitely be the start of an epic new sci-fi franchise rivaling Star Wars.

“One who seeks the absolute truth can only find it in total darkness”
First off, I love the opening line of this book! The truth of that line resonates deeply. In A Mezzo-Lord’s Armor, the author, T.O. Burnett has created a world where a warrior’s armor grows with each heroic act he completes, where physical strength and acute mental clarity must work together to survive and solve the trials, and a challenging quest that is rife with danger must be completed.
Mezzo-Lord Sordyce is a complex character, whose love for his family, realm, and leader send him on the Righteous Journey to claim the throne, but the path won’t be easy. Standing in his way is the formidable Mezzo-Lord Yafeu, an opponent whose armor is heavier than his own. Sordyce must use all his strength and wits combined to complete the journey and defeat Yafeu.
With each trial, the stakes are raised, the obstacles greater, and the risks deadlier. The author has done an outstanding job building this world and portraying the events as compelling and perilous. And all the while, back home, society is on the brink of unravelling as opposing forces threaten everything he holds dear.
Be prepared to immerse yourself in a world of epic battles, heroic bravery, and treacherous opposing forces. Burnett’s writing will make you forget you’re even reading and you’ll find yourself agonizing over every crucial decision and celebrating every victory right along with Mezzo-Lord Sordyce.
