Adelaide Stone has been in love with the gorgeous Holt - her neighbour - since kindergarten, but he doesn't seem to know she exists. Her low opinion of herself doesn't help matters and neither do the secrets that have entwined their two families since they were kids.
Will he ever notice her, take her in his arms and profess his undying love? Or will the skeletons she is about to uncover, crush her dreams forever.
A survivor of sexual abuse, I have recently written the true account of my childhood, titled: Life After Hell: Surviving Sexual Abuse. I have tried to convey what happened to me as well as my journey to finally getting justice.
A lot of my real life experiences have gone into my fictional works - especially my first book The Man of My Dreams, where I created a vigilante vampire that kills rapists and child molesters.....
I've loved Vampires and the paranormal ever since I can remember and always envisaged myself writing a book or two on the subject! I have written 5 books in The Dream Series so far: The Man of my Dreams, Be Careful What You Wish For, The Chosen One, Succubus: An Erotic Companion and A Match Made in Hell. All Paranormal Romance novels with Vampires(of course) as well as a bit of blood and gore thrown in and the 4th one is slightly on the erotic side!
I also recently published a short story (Why Won't Someone Help Me?) about my health issues and the trouble with getting diagnosed or treated for invisible illnesses.
This is brilliant piece of work with right amount of love, passion, insecurities, drama and suspense. There are strong characters who have been written so well and built in a way who can be related with by the reader. The book speaks of hope and strength even after the world around the characters might change at any moment. I loved this book. Hope to read more work from Gladys.
I was given this book to read in turn for an honest review!!!
Adelaide Stone has been head over heels in love with her best friend’s brother for years. About to turn eighteen Adelaide is planning to move to the city along with her best friend Janine and Holt. Janine pushes Adelaide to go for a modeling interview and reluctantly Adelaide agrees to go. If she can get past her low self-esteem issues this could be the perfect answer to fulfilling her dream.
Holt is Janine’s brother and has always protected his sister and best friend Adelaide. He pays little attention to Adelaide and rarely even acknowledges her presence but when the trio starts planning for the move, hidden feelings come crashing to the surface. With this revelation secrets are uncovered; will these secrets tear the trio apart forever?
Adelaide knows her feelings are far more than a crush and she desperately wants Holt to notice her. Holt struggles with how he feels and he knows he can’t allow those feelings to develop. However, sometimes you have to confide in someone. Will the secrets Holt knows destroy everything?
This story has a lot of plot twists ones you don’t see coming and as much as I loved that I felt at times they lacked depth. Gladys Quintal portrays Adelaide, Janine and Holt’s characters very well; it comes across strong how protective Holt is of the women even though he isn’t the easiest of people to get along with. The friendship that Adelaide and Janine share is also strong and it’s clear it’s one of true friendship.
If you enjoy a young adult romance with suspense then this book is for you.
He is perfect and I have loved him always, but he doesn't really know that I exist.
NADBB was asked to review Entwined by Gladys Quintal. So here we go!

Review:
The Good:
The good part is that this book has so much potential. It is a story of love and a coming of age ugly duckling/beautiful swan story. There is also nothing lacking when it comes to suspense and drama.
The Bad:
The bad is I would have loved to see and hear more about Addie and Holt. Everything happened so fast and the drama was quick to start and finish. I would have liked more concentration on the love story between the two main characters.
Rating: This one was a hard one for us. There was so much potential for this book , we just wanted it to go farther and give us more on the characters. We'd love to read more about them; delve more into their story line.
So in the end. 3.6 Give us more. We'll be reading you again!
Entwined is a coming of age story that centers on Adelaide Stone. Addie has insecurities and major self-image issues. She is very intelligent, and thinks of herself as plain and nerdy. She has been crazy about her best friend's brother Holt since kindergarten, but she feels like he has never really seen her. When her best friend Janine invites Addie to share an apartment with her and Holt after graduation Addie is over the moon. Maybe things will change for her now. Maybe she can work towards her new career and just maybe the young man she has pined for practically her whole life will finally notice her.
Addie is a young woman who is very relatable. I believe at one time or another we have all been plagued with self-doubt and poor body image. Adelaide has no clue how beautiful she is on the inside and outside. Janine is a beautiful girl who is oblivious to the guy's attentions. I love how she believes in her best friend when Addie doesn't believe in herself. Holt is the young man every parent would want their daughter with. He is ambitious, caring, and protective. He obviously has feelings for Addie, but he has built up a wall between them. All Addie wants to know is why he treats her differently than he did before.
I admire the way Quintal writes what is in her heart. She isn't afraid to cross genres to tell the stories that need to be told. Although this is a coming of age novel about a new and blossoming romance her characters have real life problems. I thought Entwined was a beautiful story that held a lot of emotion and had its fair amount of suspense too! There are some sex and adult situations in the book, but it is a perfect story for the high school or college aged reader. I never know what to expect from Quintal, I can't wait to see where her journey takes us next.
Adelaide, (Addie), doesn't think to highly of herself. She has a major crush on the hottie next door, Holt, but he is her best friend, Janine's, brother. Holt and Janine have all the looks and they don't really realize it, but they do know that Addie has them too. Janine pushes Addie to do a job that Addie would never do on her own. Things go great and the three get an apartment in the city and continue with college and work. Addie loses her mother and luckily she has great friends to help her along the way.
There are a few twist and turns along the way that I do not want to give away, because this is a page turner that you must read!! Does Addie get the hottie? Who has an affair? Who is Addie's sibling? Can Addie, Holt and Janine survive living together? Get the book to find out!!
To find the one you love might just very well be someone you definitely do not want him to be is heart breaking. This story is filled with characters that will capture your heart and characters that you just want to reach through and throttle. This story kept my attention from the first word to the last and I didn't want it to end. Adelaide, Janine, and Holt make the perfect team and the love they all share is beyond words. Adelaide stays strong throughout all of the terrible events that surround her. This story is a love for all time.
I was received this book by the author for an honest and unbiased review.
This was a powerful and moving book. the author let you know that this can happen and you can be okay and learn from what happened. Being attacked as well as your best having it happen to. and finding that you are able to move forward and be happy and still have your dreams and future is amazing. i loved the book.
This book was good. I liked the relationship between Holt and Addie. He's her best friend's brother and they've known each other forever. He's been fighting his feelings and she doesn't know why until the truth comes out. It has romance and suspense and I really enjoyed reading this book.
I found the cover art to be the first draw to this story and quite intriguing. The story itself reads almost like it was taken from the thoughts of a nearly eighteen year old girl. Her best friend and the boy she dreams of live next door. Adelaide is one of those girls who made the other girls in school jealous with her natural beauty while being totally unaware of it.
There are times when authors write in the voice of a younger person that it's a complete fail. Whether because of not really understanding how someone of a given age would think/speak or they struggle to write for the opposite gender. I found no such problems in this story.
There is an innocence to the story that fits the ages of the main characters very well. Quintal does what I appreciate most in an author, and that is to throw me a curve ball. Young love, intrigue, danger. It's all there. And trust me, the curve ball will have your head spinning. This is a short story that went far too quickly for me. I've read it several times and have enjoyed it just as much the last time as I did the first time.
The story is well written though I felt the lack of contractions in the dialog made the conversations a bit stilted. It made the conversations feel more formal than I've heard come from any teenager. Overall a good read. I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.
I loved the description for this book and felt that it sounded interesting and had a lot of potential.
Adeliade Stone is in love with Holt, her neighbour and the brother of her best friend. When Adelaide, her friend Janine and Holt move to the city after school they all move in together.
From here the story moves very quickly. The plot doesn’t take the time needed and it feels a bit rushed.
The emotions of the characters are also quite unrealistic, tragic events which would be very emotional for the characters are glossed over and the characters move on quickly.
I did love the relationship between Holt and Adelaide, the idea falling in love with her best friends brother who happens to be her neighbour is heartwarming and realistic. I also loved the way in which Holt took it upon himself to act as the girls protected and to ensure they were safe.
Overall the book has a lot of potential, but I was left a little disappointed.
"Entwined" by Gladys Quintal tells the story of Addie, Janine, and Holt who have been friends since childhood. Addie has been crushing on Holt since Kindergarten and thought they were good friends, that is until recent years he has ignored her or treated coldly. When they all graduate high school and move to the city for jobs, things take a turn when Janine convinces Addie to interview for a modeling job, she finally agrees but can't believe that they would even hire her since she's so ugly. Janine picks out her clothes and does her make-up and shocking to her she looks fabulous! What should be an exciting time living without the parents becomes a complicated mess with secrets and danger.
I gave this 4 stars because it's a good read, with likable characters and a good story that is written in Addie's voice, an 18 yr old with a crush on her best friends brother.
I was give this book by the author in return for my honest opinion, all opinions on this review are mine alone.
Gladys Quintal is a wonderful Young Adult storyteller! Although the story is slow at the beginning, it picks up speed through the middle, and by the end it is a race to the finish to see what happens next.
Wow. Talk about intense!! This was really good. It had me on the edge and I didn't want to put it down. It had some sexy scenes and some really intense suspenseful scenes as well. All in all great book and I highly recommend.
