Honestly, this was a bit of a chore to finish reading. I couldn't stand Catrina, and Jared wasn't that much better. I did like the tender side of Jared but it was hard to accept when Jared was using Catrina's weakness to have her agree to become a sex slave. If it were completely non-con, I would have liked it better. Instead, the author tried to make it palatable with dub-con and an ambiguous "relationship" between the two. The spankings and punishment ass fucks were boring and routine. The only part I liked was the ending.

Catrina has finished paying off her debt and is now attempting to make it on her own again. Can she be responsible and mature this time, or will she give into old bad habits?
I find it extremely difficult to find books that have only anal sex or anal sex for the majority of the story, so I was happy to find that all three books in this series concentrated on only anal and blowjobs and vaginal penetration was out of the question. This is the final book in a triology and it needs to be read in order.
I liked this series. It was a quick easy read (I do wish the books had been longer or on KU instead.) This was my first time reading Cassandra and I will be checking out her other works.

This is the first dark erotic story written by Cassandra Carr and I think she did a good job depicting the unimaginable situation Catrina has gotten herself into with her debt and what she must endure for the next year. Catrina has survived servicing her benefactor, Jared for one year and now we see what happens next to her in the next installment, Purgatory. Catrina is on her own again and the lessons she learned from Jared seems to be going on the sideline. I liked that this time, when she's starting to get into trouble, she "chose" to be with Jared and have him help her again. He showed a more tender side with Catrina this time which I enjoyed a lot more. There seemed to be a shift in their relationship and a possibility for something more even though "love" is not part of the deal. I enjoyed this final story and the author's first foray in dark erotic.

Purgatory by Cassandra Carr was a good conclusion to The Payment Series. With some assistance Catrina gets her life back on track. But now that the temptations are back she finds that life isn't so easy to stay debt free. I enjoyed this book and the finish of theirs series.

This series of books was hot and very intense. I have laughed and cried and everything in between. Cassandra Carr has nailed it with this series.
