Book Overview:

“Infernal Strings Of Destiny” by Jannat Bhat was a quick and easy read. I was able to read it in one sitting. It was written in first person and felt a little like a diary entry at first. Where there were parts of world building (Mumbai India) that I felt lacked until mid book. Then it started to fall more into place.

There were some awesome twists and turns. I didn’t find them predictable. These parts had me sucked in! Made me want more. With the past and present coming together. Loved the generational curse part and how it all came together.

The story follows FMC Zayn and MMC Kavya. Their love story wasn’t there and then, boom, right there and out of nowhere. Literally to the undying love. It didn’t really make a lot of sense and seemed really unreal to be true with the events. However, I did love the romance/ relationship towards the end. Things fell into place and it made more sense. I don’t want to get into more details because I don’t want to give it away.

Overall, I did enjoy the read. There was a great vision that Jannat had. I just wish there was more character development, world building, and more fluency to the story. I loved the adventure, concepts, uniqueness, some pop culture, tension, elemental magic and more! I would read more from her and there’s a lot of promise and potential with her writing!

📚 Tropes/Themes: urban fantasy, hate to love, workplace romance, discovering powers, family curses, unique magic system, soulmates
👀 Mostly single POV 3st person
🩷 Something I liked: Zayn's dimple 😂
🙈 Something I disliked: the diary entries need something to set them apart/make them stand out in the text
🧠 Triggers: death, gore
🛍️ Available: now!

💬 So this is a very unique story, and it was really interesting! It definitely sucked me in. The majority of this book is told from Kavya's perspective and I liked how she sort of talked "at" the reader. At the end though it switches to Zayn's perspective and I wish I could have gotten a little more from him during. The snark/sarcasm was great too.

I did think the jump from enemies to lovers was a little bit unconvincing. It almost happened too fast but I guess technically they've known each other for a long time since they're coworkers.

I did like the fantasy aspect of this story, you can tell it's been really thought out and there's a lot of depth to it. It was also really unique and interesting. It did sort of give me a dark Romeo and Juliet vibe, and especially towards the end I really did not know what to expect, like I couldn't predict what was going to happen- it really kept me on my toes.

And the love story was also super sweet and swoony although I can't say much without giving a lot of the plot away.... but I was seriously stressed in there towards the end for a bit 😅

This would be a great book for YA romantasy lovers!

Infernal Strings of Destiny written by the lovely Jannat Bhat follows Kavya and Zayn, two work colleagues who cannot stand each other, but end up in a bit of a tangle together.

First and foremost, Jannat Bhat knows how to write a dark and brooding male character (who doesn't love that?) The first thing that came out of Zayn's mouth was said with anger, and it kept going throughout the book. I must admit, he got a little more patient in the middle of the book, but obviously that didn't last long.

Secondly, after reading the first few pages, Kavya is a total hot mess, and I am all here for it. The reason could be because I am pretty sure the way kavya thinks and how she was literally all over the place, is how my mind functions on a daily basis 😅 she would literally jump from one thing to another and back to wherever she started.

Thirdly, Kavya is a reader and enjoys enemies to lovers books. She also loves Bridgerton and Jason Statham (two things I can also agree on)...need I say more?

If you enjoy a good fantasy enemies to lovers, brooding man & strong women book with a taste of power elements and a sassy grandmother who hates most people, I would recommend this book.

I devoured this book, I did have a love/hate relationship with the characters, where I loved them and then I wanted to smack them both, but then I loved them again.

It was so well written, the concept of the story was absolutely amazing and Jannat Bhat did a wonderful job to bring this to life.

I got an ARC copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I wanna start of by saying a huge thank you to Jannat for giving me the opportunity to read and share my thoughts on this.

I think urban fantasy might not be entirely my cup of tea. I don't really like the idea of having these characters and creatures in a normal world setting. It throws me off. It feels weird to me how there's this hundred year old curse and powers and everything and then they're just casually working in a book store?

I would love to know more about our characters. Also that the characters knew more about each other before confessing an undying love.

It was hard to follow along at times, the timeline was confusing me a bit.

However, I did really, really like their romance overall. Come on, who doesn't love a "Touch her and I'll kill you" trope?

The love kind of came out of nowhere though. Barely any build up and then BAM. I did enjoy their relationship a lot more in the second half of this book.

I can definitely see the potential for this story and it's a unique read. I just wish there was a bit more flow to the story.

I would recommend this.

Overall, this was a fun and quick read! You see a hate-to-love relationship between Kavya and her coworker Zayn. She is a definite sunshine to his darkness. Their banter is great, and even though Zayn is a man a few words, his eyes tell a different story. When you least expect it, they are thrown into a century old family curse and told that they can never be together without one of them dying. It is then that they decide to go against their fate and fight for this love they have for each other.

The elemental magic that comes into play is such a unique magic system that I haven't seen anything close to it in any other book. There is also nothing predictable about this story, which is invigorating in itself.

I wish the book was longer so that the characters and story could be fleshed out a little more, but I really liked it, and it was a great adventure!

This was a rollercoaster of a read. I was sucked in by the wild plotline that kept me on my toes. Every bit of information came in fragments, which just made me want to keep reading. I needed to know what happened next. One chapter wasn't enough. Gramsy holding onto all the secrets and being so unforthcoming about the curse was attention grabbing to say the least. I loved the representation of curses and witchcraft. Learning about the blood rituals and what becomes of loving someone so much that you would kill for them or die for them. Zayn and Kavya’s relationship was a great enemies to lovers/forbidden love story that I ate up! His protective “I’ll do anything for you” and her “touch him and die” was amazing to read. I will admit the last little epilogue was a bit confusing to read. I got lost in the six months later. Following the aftermath of the blood spilling, I had to reread a couple times to figure out what was going on. Once I read that Kavya had amnesia it all fell into place. The fact that Zayn sat patiently by her side waiting for her to remember him just pulled on my heart strings. There were a few wording\spelling mistakes throughout the whole book, but the plot was addicting so I could look past them. Overall it was a good book and I enjoyed it very much.

The writing style of this book was brilliant. Written as if the FMC was talking to the reader, it grabbed my attention easily and made the story more captivating.

The banter between the MCs was brilliant and I spent a majority of the time reading with a smile on my face and it made me chuckle multiple times.

Not only was the slow burn of their romance delicious but the slow-burn introduction of the supernatural element to the story was well written and kept me engaged.

This standalone romantasy ends with a HEA, which was needed after the roller-coaster of emotions it sent me on.

Awesome story

This story was amazing... the characters are well written and hilarious. The banter and sarcasm between Zayn and Kavya had me laugjing so hard. They plot of this story was on point for a comic sort of enemies to lovers. I highly recommend this book for anyone needing a good laugh and to fall in love with these two. It does have a small sad section that will bring tears, however I loved every bit of this story

Read this book recently... It starts off as this cute office romance with a hate-love dynamic between Kavya and Zyan, but then it takes a twist into a world of mystery, magic, and fantasy. The chemistry between the leads is absolutely electric, and I couldn't get enough of their moments. The pacing was a little slow for me at times, but the twists kept me hooked. The ending was satisfying, but I’m honestly dying for a sequel...There’s so much more to uncover, and I need more of these characters.. Esp the leads.🫶🏻♥️.

I really enjoyed the concept of this book. I liked where it was going. I would have loved to have seen more character development. I struggled to follow the storyline, I was a little confused at times. All in all, I do think this book was a unique read with great potential, but not very well executed, unfortunately.

This book is more YA than intended for the older adult book. The book has a good history and it makes you question what was really going on. There were twists and turns ad tou follow the main character to find out her past, present, and future. It was a good read.

You guys, this book drew me in. 😍💖 I pretty much devoured it in one sitting. I just had to know what was happening with Zayn's connection to the elements and how they connected to his emotions over Kavya. 😍

I will say I really enjoyed the mystery element surrounding the story. It was nicely done and I found myself wanting more. In the best way. Highly recommended.

“After I saw you, I saw no one else.”

This was a good, unique Romantacy. I would say more YA. I loved the hate to love aspect. The twists. The generational family curses was thought out and unique. And of course their love story. I enjoyed this.
