The tension in this book hits almost right away and it honestly never fully lets go. Something about being stuck in a jungle where danger can come out of nowhere made me feel uneasy from the start. As I kept reading, I felt this constant sense of alertness, like I needed to stay focused the same way the main character did. Knowing the story was inspired by real events made everything feel heavier and more intense.
What I liked most was how real Ipshita felt as a character. She wasnt fearless or unrealistically strong, she was scared, exhausted, and still trying to make the right choices. My favourite part was how the threat of the tiger felt ever present, even when it wasnt directly happening. That looming danger made the quiet moments just as stressful as the action scenes. The survival choices felt brutal and complicated, not clean or heroic.

The title, The Deadly Rogue: Brink of Survival in a Man-Eater’s Jungle, and the book’s cover are misleading. This is not an adventure book, and the tiger plays only a small role in its telling. That being said, I’m not saying that I did not enjoy reading the book.
Iti, a young doctor living in Bombay, visits a childhood friend and his family. He works for the government as a ranger in a protected jungle refuge. The story of her trip to reach his isolated home was a vivid and fascinating view of Indian culture. I am not Indian. When she finally arrives at her friend’s compound, she receives a warm welcome from his family. What I enjoyed about this story and what kept me reading was the vivid descriptions of the Indian wilderness and its culture. Also, the often teasing conversations between her friend’s family and her were amusing.
The last few chapters of the novel didn’t seem to fit with the rest of the book. The narrative became chaotic, unbelievable, and incomplete. Despite the engaging nature of the rest of the book, the ending left me disappointed.

The Deadly Rogue is a remarkable endeavour. There is much going for it. For starters, the style of writing is amazingly evocative - the imagery used by the author and the choice of words make it smooth for the reader to visualise the goings-on. The concept, the settings, are terrific too. There are elements of adventure, of drama, all interwoven expertly. I'm intentionally avoiding spoilers and hence not getting into what the story is about. This is a glorious piece of writing, without letting the tome become too voluminous. Strongly recommended for young adults - or indeed, adults of any age group, or even for children on the verge of completing their schooling.

I was completely absorbed by this story and felt tense the whole way through. The jungle setting felt real and dangerous, and I could almost feel the fear and exhaustion alongside the main character. What stood out to me most was how it balanced survival with deeper questions about courage and doing the right thing. It’s a fast, gripping read that kept me turning pages and thinking about it even after I finished.

There is little to say about good book but when it comes to bad ones, words are never enough. After reading this book I have only positive impressions. The plot is dynamic and engaging. I really liked how the author developed the heroine throughout the entire story and how vividly her struggles are portrayed almost as if from a first-person perspective. I’m truly impressed and can definitely recommend it.

It took me a chapter or two to get into the swing of things, as the character dialogue initially feels somewhat stilted. However, the story soon takes off, becoming a gripping and intense read. The jungle setting is vividly dangerous, and the relentless survival stakes make it incredibly page turning. Highly recommended for thriller enthusiasts.

I have a soft spot for anything set in untamed wilderness, especially jungles. I’ve done a bit of hiking and spent time around wildlife, so the idea of being deep in a forest and facing unpredictable danger resonated with me. Ipshita isn’t some super-hero with perfect survival skills, she’s relatable, she makes mistakes, she questions herself, and that made her journey more real to me.

I'm always fascinated by this kind of thriller books when a character is well-written, the surroundings are so realistic that you can feel the danger by your gut, and the tension keeps you alert till the end of the book. Especially if you know that it's based on a real story, it makes it even more emotional. Really enjoyed, strongly recommend.

Clean Suspense Adventure
The author makes use of very descriptive vocabulary. The wordplay is incredibly clever. This is very useful for the Bastar forest’s world building aspect and can be very immersive. However, it can slow down the pacing for some action scenes (like the tiger’s pursuit). Overall still a very good read if you like a clean suspense adventure

Tense. Book immediately plunges you into action. The jungle is described in detail and feels realistic. The main character is convincing and the threat of the tiger makes every chapter tense and dangerous. Its all about survival. If you like thrillers you will enjoy this book

After a few trips to the forest, filled with vivid details of exquisite birds, reptiles and bigger wild animals, the story suddenly turns super intense with a tiger turning rogue! I mean, how wild is that? The story is filled with ups and downs, laughter and goosebumps, poachers and saviors! Primarily the actions of the man-eating tiger, and of course, Iti, would have you hooked before you could put it down. Instead of running away from danger, she chooses to face the limits of human endurance.
