Surviving The New Boss

Ros
Damn! My kind, old boss has asked his hot-shot grandson to take over as the new CEO of the company.

He rolls into the office looking like he stepped out of the cover of GQ magazine featuring the dreamiest men alive. With him sitting on the top of the list obviously.

As soon as I set eyes on him, sparks start flying.
Yup, hate at first sight. For both of us.
He hates me and I hate him.

I'm not normally a violent person. I've been known to pick earthworms floundering on the sidewalk, gently return them to the grass, and wish them well, but this man is so arrogant, so annoying, so supercilious, so sarcastic, so sexy... he makes me want to throttle the life out of him.

It is pretty obvious he wants to get rid of me. My replacement; a catty witch who he has brought with him from whichever hellish place he used to work at.

But he has a problem.
One of the non negotiable stipulations of his takeover is that he can't fire any of his grandfather's key personnel for a whole year unless he can prove gross incompetence. I happen to be one of the said key personnel and I have no plans of going anywhere.

He does everything in his power to make me look incompetent so he can fire me, but no chance. I'm not at my job because I'm a pretty face. I'm here because I kick ass and he's about to find out just how hard I kick.

Until a new problem develops.
Remember all those sparks I mentioned flying around. Well, a few land on my panties and.. er... burn them clean off. And now it's getting hard, real hard to be coldly professional without any underwear.

I really wanted to like this book, but it really needs a trip to the editor. There is a lot of grammar and punctuation missing and there needs to be more characters. The entire story with the exception of a little dialog plays out in direct detail from the characters mind. A few examples:

- "I thank the driver as he opens my door for me. I get of the car and head toward the entrance to the country club as my driver closes the door and gets back in the car and drives away. I step inside the country club."
- "My cheesecake is amazing. The base is a ginger biscuit rather than the standard graham cracker and then there is a luxurious layer of vanilla cream cheese and the whole thing is topped with a zest lime sauce."

The first part reads like someone creating code or giving explicit instructions on how to do something. First open the door. Then step out of the vehicle. Then close the door. Then walk towards the restaurant. Then open the restaurant door... you get the idea. It's just a play by play.

The second example is literally just what the character saw. There is so much opportunity to allow the reader to experience things as the character does and it's just missing from the whole book. It doesn't lend towards any real chemistry building or spark and it's really just quite dull.

Like I said, the idea is there, but it needs work. It feels like a few rounds with beta readers and an editor would help big time.

This book was good for a simple and quick read. It was a nice story, that flowed well. For me, it wasn't that much of a enemies to lovers or grumpy boss book. Alex and Ros were likeable characters, and they had chemistry together. I was kind of hoping there would be more angst in the beginning. Alex took over his granddad's company and he wasn't allowed to fire anyone in the first year of being the boss. Ros was a dedicated, smart and hard-working assistant. Sure, Alex tried to sabotage Ros, but he stopped as quickly as he started, and he wasn't that grumpy. Then there's Celia, who he brought with him, who was supposed to be his assistant and then wasn't. I thought there would be more competition or controversy between her and Ros, but she wasn't really in the book all that much, until toward the end, when we see her true colors. I have to say that, even though he didn't say much, I liked Will. The last few chapters of the book were the most exciting.

Surviving her job! By MeemsAngel82

This was a well written story by Iona! The writing was great and this had a full story with fleshed out characters and a entertaining plot. I loved the back and forth between the two leads and kept wondering exactly what was going to happen between them. At first our H was such a frustrating person! Bless Ros, because no, I wouldn't have been able to stand him and would have had some headaches going home everyday!

He took over the company from his grandfather, but he wasn't about to use his Grandfather's secretary. He had his own, someone he trusted. She needed to go.

Bless her heart, again, I would have been so mad about how he treated me! And the other stuff? Wow, what a childlike mentality! His secretary? Oh, dear... Yeeeaaahhh....She's not better. In fact, she's worse! This had some great characters, I enjoyed the chemistry between these two. I'm happy he realized just how wrong he is! It was in his best interest for more than one reason!

Surviving the New Boss is a fun, fast-paced romance that had me hooked from the start. Iona Rose has a knack for creating dynamic characters and sizzling chemistry, and this book is no exception.

Alex, the arrogant new CEO, and Ros, the hardworking and loyal assistant, are an instant clash of personalities. Their initial animosity is palpable, and their witty banter is a delight to read. As they're forced to work together, the tension between them builds, and it's clear that there's something more than just professional rivalry at play.

While the plot is predictable at times, the characters are well-developed and endearing. I particularly enjoyed the slow-burn romance and the way the author built the tension between Alex and Ros. The supporting characters, such as Will and Celia, add depth and humor to the story.

If you're looking for a lighthearted and entertaining romance with a touch of workplace drama, Surviving the New Boss is a great choice.

Well new jobs and new bosses you won’t put it down until the last page is turned. Alex the new CEO taking over the Water Financial so his grandfather can retire early but his grandfather has stipulations he can’t not get rid of any of the current staff for at least a year especially the PA and this doesn’t sit well with him so his attitude towards her well it isn’t the best. Ros is sweet one of the strongest to put up with a man child’s attitude while throwing a temper tantrum, but she realizes he doesn’t know as much as his grandfather, and he could stand for attitude adjustments so she kills with kindness for the most part sort of 😊. Alex learns while watching her work that she really is the heart of the company the more they work together the stronger the magnetic pull between them grows and the more they pretend it isn’t there under the name of professional the stronger it grows but will she see another side to him other than the horrible boss side, will she see past his first impression, and can they find happiness along the way ?

Surviving My New Boss was quite entertaining and enjoyable to read. This book has charm, suspense and most definitely a page turner of a romance. I didn’t want to set this book down until I read the last page. Author Iona Rose has written another remarkable romance story that I absolutely LOVED reading from start to finish. Also, Iona Rose continues to show what an incredible author she is with each book that I have read from her so far. I absolutely enjoyed getting to know the main characters and seeing their story unfold throughout the story. The characters are well developed/written and beautifully executed. Now I’m not going to reveal any sort of details about this book because I don’t want to ruin it for others. However, I would HIGHLY recommend this amazing romance story to anyone who is looking for a fun romance book to read. I’m looking forward to reading more amazing romances from Iona Rose in the future.

Surviving the New Boss is a Contemporary Romance that begins with MMC Alex Waters taking over as CEO for his grandfather’s company Waters Financial, so he can retire early.
Alex has to agree to not replace any of the current employees for at least a year if he decides he needs to, and he must keep on his grandfather’s personal assistant MFC Ros.
Well Alex wanted to bring in his own PA so being forced to work with his grandfather’s has resulted in a lot of angst between him and Ros.
This was a good story, nicely written with a lot of office drama until Alex begins to realize just how important an asset Ros is to
Waters Financial, and him.
An entertaining read with spice, romance, well crafted characters, and some suspense in the third act that was nail-biting, another spectacular read was provided from author Iona Rose.

Ros was the assistant of Alex's grandfather and was to keep her job once he took over the company. However, he had brought his own assistant with him and put her in a temporary position until he could find a way to get rid of Ros. Things didn't go as planned because every mistake he called Ros on she countered that she wouldn't make such obvious errors. Soon he realized that Ros was better than he own assistant and came clean to her about what had been happening. Its not long before things change between them and become more personal. Will they be able to continue to work and be together? Will his old assistant cause problems?

This is an amazing story that once I started it I couldn't put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. Its a book that any book lover would enjoy.

Great story where two lives collide and the chemistry was off the charts.

Granddad looking out for his grandson, not realizing until Alex and Ros official meet and greet did he see the chemistry between the two. Alex wanted to bring his personal assistant over but Ros turns out to be awesome at her job. Celia was jealous and nasty to Ros but try and play it off but Will Alex bodyguard saw through her. Alex tried to sabotage Ros but when the client let it be known that he was changing his mind about the company after Ros stepped in and continued to make it about the client. Alex not realized he was wrong about Ros but he wanted her for himself. Celia turned out to be a little psycho after Alex asked her to help him pick out a ring for Ros. Loved the story and I recommend reading this book.

Alex takes over his grandfather’s financial business. The only stipulation that he can’t fire key employees for a year. Ros is the assistant to the CEO and she is a hard worker. Alex brings a woman who is supposed to be his assistant but he can’t get rid of Ros. Alex tries to sabotage Ros’ work but can’t. There is attraction and chemistry between Alex and Ros. Will Alex and Ros find that their attraction to each other can work out? Will Alex and Ros find love and happiness?

Now that Alex has assumed control of his grandfather’s company, he believes the easiest transition would be to bring his assistant with him rather than be forced to work with the woman who was his grandfather’s assistant. When he realizes that is not an option, he sets a plan in motion to prove that she needs to be fired for cause.

Ros enjoyed working for Alex’s grandfather but the same cannot be said when it comes to Alex. She is determined to show him that she is invaluable to the company and to him as his assistant but it doesn’t end there.

Witty banter, a little drama and two people who realize they make perfect partners in all aspects of their lives.

Classic enemies-to-lovers tale. Whilst PA Ros thinks her new boss Alex is a pain and arrogant, she is attracted to him against her will even after he admits he was trying to sabotage her job! A steamy stand-off ensues which culminates in their chemistry getting the better of them. I liked both the main characters and as a reader, was rooting for an HEA from their romance. Throw in Alex’s previous horrid PA and a touch of unexpected danger in the last part of the story and you have a good romantic read from Iona Rose.

When Alex takes over his granddad’s company he thought he’d have autonomy to hire his own assistant but instead is forced to keep Ros. Ros is sad to see her old boss retire, especially since his grandson is so grumpy. A series of events engineered to make Ros look bad actually does the opposite waking Alex up the Ros’ potential and the chemistry between them. But not everyone is happy with their relationship. Lots of snark, second guessing and jealousy at play in this metropolitan romance.

Alex is the new boss when his dad retires. He wants to bring his personal assistant with him but his dad told him he can’t make any changes for the first year. Ros has been Alex’s dad’s personal assistant for the past three years. When Alex starts working with Ros he finds fault with everything she does. He is trying to get her to leave. They do not like each other at all. The biggest client causes problems which forces Alex and Ros have to work with each other. This is a really good book.

Alex Water is taking over as CEO of his grandfather's financial company with certain conditions. One is he cannot fire any current employees for a year and he must keep his grandfather's PA Ros. Alex wants to bring on his own but will follow his grandfather's wishes and finds Ros more than capable in spite of someone undermining her. The characters are well-written, and the book is well-paced. There is sizzle, steam, drama, and more. This was a solid 4-star read. .

Alex and Ros get off to the wrong start but that changes quickly to getting each other off frantically and frequently. The are both so sweet and kind but not so sweet and kind is Alex’s ex personal assistant who feels bamboozled due to a clause in Alex’s new CEO position’s contract. She will not be ignored! The ending’s explanation is a bit redundant but a unique HEA saves the day. You will truly enjoy this roller coaster ride of heroism and love.

this book 😍

I got the description of this book maybe wanna read it but other than that when I read it I could not put it down. I kept writing it in one sitting it took me 2 1/2 hours to read, but I got a bit. I love it, and I probably would read this again. This book was definitely a good read and to be honest I recommend this book to you if you’re reading this review because I don’t think you will regret it it’s definitely different and it does have a little bit of drama, but it has a lot of spice so if you like all that, then I recommend it to you.

This was a great read. Wow! Ros survived a lot when her boss retired and the new boss took over. But, in the end, good things come to those who wait. And in between you might get a few rough patches, but everything comes up roses.

This book is a good read with a HEA. I enjoyed it very much.

This enemies to lovers' office romance had me all caught up in Alex and Ros's antics and banter. It has a quick-witted plot and colorful characters that make this story stand out. It is a descriptively well written story that had me cheering Ros and Alex on as they lay the course for their relationship. Will it get them to their happily ever after.

This was a great read! Once I started reading, I couldn’t put it down. I loved the plot though it was at times predictable. Their snarky comments and the back and forth between them was hilarious as well as entertaining. I loved the secondary characters as well especially Will and Fiona. The characters were well developed and easily relatable. This is one that is worth reading!

Alex and Ros

I wish I liked this more than I did.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when the cover model doesn't match the description of the character that he is supposed to portray and it's totally off the mark.

Ros was a disappointment, I wanted her to have a stronger spine and more of a biting wit. Alex was a @$$hole for no reason except to be an @$$hole.

Gave it a generous 3 stars.
