In effect, this is an extended essay discussing Albert Speer, Hitler's architect and one of the Nazis to escape the death penalty at the Nuremberg trails. Mukherjee compares Speer's testimony to his documented actions and speculates about whether or not he was truly repentant or manipulated those who tried him. It was a compelling, if brief, read.
