In early 2022 the right elements conjoined—my love of villains, my taste for high comedy, and my pull towards strong women. Now I can’t stop cooking up plots and drawing new characters. Though I write mostly dark romance, I invariably weave plenty of reality into the fantasy. My preference for lone wolves, quirky characters, and intense plot results in what my reader and author friends call romance with teeth. I live in Berkeley, California with my dachshund-Chihuahua, Pooh-bah. When I’m not writing, I love traveling, cooking, playing piano, and cycling in the nearby hills.

Well Crispin is a bloody piece of work let me tell you.... But dam it I grew to love him.
Just as Kathleen writes a lot of her MMC's he is a classic alpha-hole, entitled, demanding and a complete cocky arse!
Fiona is a strong, self assured woman with her own mind and life goals.
They met years back from when the story is set, attraction, sexual tension a shared love of fitness, philosophy and reading made this a first love for both. But it wasn't to be, Crispin is a bad man, possessed by evil in his own belief. Fiona knows he is into some shady activity but when she hears about the depravity some of his work entails, she can't handle it.
Fast forward, the years go by and Fiona is an independent business woman, she has grown her restaurant business and has become a well known chef in a male dominated space. Life's going well, then who reappears in her life.... you guessed it, bloody Crispin!!
He doesn't just reappear though he comes back and turns her life upside down with blackmail, bargaining and bully tactics.
The plot thickens as we learn more about Crispin and his history, maybe all isn't what it seemed and Fiona is left to find out who the real Crispin is.
The spice has a bit of a slow burn, kinda like edging for a while but when it hits, it's hot! absolute banger !

Kathleen Haley has a way of making you hate (or at the very least dislike) her MMC’s. I hated Tybalt in “Conflict of Desires” and I disliked Trevor in “The Dating Wars”. Eventually both characters warmed up to me though, but in both cases I was at least at 75% in the story. Crispin was no different, seriously WHAT.AN.ASS. But eventually he too was redeemable.
10 years ago Crispin and Fiona had a brief relationship that ended on a bitter note. Now Crispin is after Fiona again, but not with the intent of starting a relationship again. No, he wants to own her body, life and heart…only to break it and make her hurt. But Fiona never really got over Crispin, they had such passion, something she hasn’t found with anyone else yet. Will she be able to resist him this time?
Fiona and Crispin are very different from one another. While Crispin is a hardened criminal who’s not opposed to using violence and extortion, Fiona is a strong independent restaurant owner who knows her way around a kitchen. What they do have in common is a love for books and travel, and ofcourse their sexual chemistry.
As the story unfolds, so do the reasons behind their initial break-up and the reasons for Crispin wanting revenge on Fiona. I always love to watch things like these unfold in a story, there is just something so satisfying about it. I enjoyed the overall story, the plot twists, spice, and the character development.
The man on the cover of the book did not match with the image I had of a 35 year old, dark-haired Crispin. So the image I had of him in my head kept clashing with the image on the cover. 🙈😉

Okay where to even start. This book is SO different from the other ones I've read by Ms. Haley. Darker, smuttier and I am here for it! Crispin oh my, he's a devil in the flesh and so hot! I'd let him boss be around any day. Oh you have a boyfriend? Not anymore, Crispin is back. Yeah Fiona never stood a chance.

Why does Kathleen have to continue to write such good stories with the biggest alphaholes. I am totally conflicted as to if Crispin is by far the biggest of if my vote goes to Tybalt in "Conflict of Desire". I mean I guess you can only go up on the alphahole meter in my book.
10 years ago, Fiona met Crispin and that is when a love affair starts. However, Fiona starts to see a side of Crispin she doesn't feel she can be with. She makes the decision to leave Crispin to follow her dreams. Crispin had his heart broken 10 years ago but he isn't the type to let that go. His infatuation with Fiona is stronger than ever. He directs his obsession with Fiona to the test by making her fall back in love with him so that he can punish her for what she has done to him.
Lies and secrets can ultimately break one's trust but in Fiona's situation those lies and secrets bring her closer to Crispin and just maybe this love will break the demon's Crispin openly admits to possessing. To find out if Crispin free's his soul of all his demons, you will have to read the book to find out.

In true @kathleenlotthaley form she introduces us to Crispin who is the biggest alphahole, stalker, obsessed grumpy MMC, here's the thing the way she writes them you want him, you want to see him get his girl, you just want more of him.
My favorite part of her writing is She also always writes the most kickass FMC who are a damn force of nature, and Fiona is perfectly this.
They dated years back, and a misunderstanding lead to their break-up, you get a little from past and from now, he thinks he needs retribution but what he really needed was a reality check from Fiona, it's almost better to not know to much and read and enjoy as you going, I sometimes love going in blind and getting some twists as you go.
It's sexy, it's slow burning angst will have you wanting to offer yourself to Crispin, who amninkidding I wanted to do that from the beginning.
I loved the grumpy sunshine that just shines through.
Awesome read.

A lead male, Crispin, who I can't decide if I love or loathe. A lead female Fiona, who 10 years before chose herself over the crime loving Crispin...leading to Crispins decision to stalk, chase and manipulate Fiona into loving him so he can punish her for hurting him all those years before.

ARC Review - Kathleen Haley done it again! She just knows how to write men right. I love the depth that Kathleen gives her characters and the detail in her storylines.
Dangerously Possessed is a dual timeline (10 years apart), slow burn, dark romance with the perfect amount of mystery, secrets, sexual tension and humour.
Crispin and Fiona dated for 6 months a decade ago, and parted enemies. Crispin says he is back for revenge however as they say love and hate come hand in hand. Even though Fiona knows Crispin cannot be trusted, does she really want to stay away?

Crispin and Fiona are our main characters. Fiona is a very talented chef and Crispin is talented at shady deals and questionable work methods. And he also claims to be possessed by a d3mon! This story takes place in the present and ten years in the past. Fiona and Crispin were a couple ten years ago and broke up on bad terms. Now Fiona is in a happy relationship when Crispin shows up and tells her she Is breaking up with her boyfriend whether she likes it or not. Crispin is back and has been following her. He wants revenge but he also wants her back badly and will do anything to accomplish the task at hand. Including threatening her boyfriend to break up with her. Fiona has always had a weak spot for Crispin but will she survive his kind of love this time around? Crispin is such a red hot character you will fall in love with this alpha hole as much as you want to hate him. This story has a great unique plot and different from most second chance romances you've read. This couple has piping hot chemistry and the their steamy scenes are on fire.

As she is preparing for the competition her former love pops up out of nowhere. The chemistry between these two characters is 🥵🔥🥵🔥 and they can not deny their physical reactions to each other.
Crispin came in with a plan to get revenge but as everything progresses both parties discover not everything is as it seemed. Can these two work through all the obstacles and form something based on more than just their insane chemistry?
This book left me wishing for that kind of chemistry and fire in the bedroom. The story unfolds giving bits and pieces to fill in the past and present in a very engaging way. I loved all the different characters and aspects that were in play.

Crispin’s dialogue can be a bit over dramatic at times, but then again he can be a bit of an over dramatic guy. Fiona came off as a little too arrogant to me at first, but by the end I determined that she’s just a smart, strong lady.
I love how Kathleen weaves in references to music and fitness into her books, and this one did not disappoint! It gives the story a more imaginable vibe.

Fiona, has achieved so much and she did it alone, thinking she hasn’t done enough. But, when Crispin reappeared in her life after being her high school sweetheart. She tries so hard to ignore the chemistry between them but her body rejects her brain. The absolutely explosive connection between Fiona and Crispin is phenomenal.

This was a dark romance told over a Duel timeline.
Crispin is the epitome of an OTT protective and possessive MMC, and he is definitely an Alpha-hole with a capital A!!
The story was a slow burn with a fast-paced plot and had lots going on and kept me hooked.
I liked that we got Crispin and Fiona's backstory, and so it was easy to understand the slight angstyness to the story.
Crispin definitely redeemed himself but the end of the book, but my god, was it touch and go there for a minute!!
Great story, and I can't wait to jump into another book by Kathleen.

This book was so insanely good. The plot twist was so good. The banter, tension and heat was off the charts. I absolutely grew to love Crispin. He was arrogant, demanding, possessive, hot and did I say arrogant lol. The way he messed with Fiona’s head was intense. I really enjoyed Fiona towards the middle and end of the story. She is strong, kind, and independent but I loved the way she stood up to Crispin when it mattered the most. The spice was also so good but it wasn’t so overwhelming that it took up the whole story.

Crispin is the guy every girl wants but shouldn't. Fiona is the girl he never thought he could have.. and then he didn't. Ten years later their paths crossed, both successful but on different sides of the law. I read this story so quickly with the need to know if reuniting was the best idea... especially since Crispin hated Fiona for breaking his heart 10 years ago.

The dynamic between Crispin and Fioana had me on the edge of my seat
at the beginning I wasn’t sure if I would like Crispin but learning about the things he had done in the past and why he worked towards what he was doing had me truly appreciating his character and I love his development towards the end of the book!

This is the kind of story that pulls you in and doesn’t let go. Fiona and Crispin are pure chaos, the kind you can't stop watching. Crispin’s this grumpy, arrogant alphahole who’s so damn infuriating, you kinda want to throw something at him. But also… I wouldn’t mind him throwing me against a wall, you know? Yeah, I said it.
And then there’s Fiona. A total powerhouse. She’s not just strong; she’s the kind of FMC who owns every scene she’s in. And them together is like a match and gasoline. Every interaction is charged, their tension practically buzzing off the page.
What I loved most were the layers. This isn’t just about the heat (though trust me, there’s plenty). The story digs deep into love, revenge, and second chances. Kathleen Haley doesn’t just create characters; she makes you feel every emotion they go through.

This starts off feeling like a slow-burn, but it does pretty quickly escalate. And boy, once it does, strap in for the rollercoaster ride! The🌶🌶🌶 gets hot, hot, hot!
Fiona is a professional chef and restaurant owner who suddenly finds her ex-love, Crispin, back in her life and turning her world upside-down. Crispin demands her assistance and compliance in making his revenge goals happen and becoming his again.
She soon finds she has not lost all the love in her heart for him, but the reason she left him still stands in her way. Has Crispin engaged in illegal activities in the past, and if so, does he still? Is Crispin redeemable in Fiona's eyes? How far will he go with all his nefarious plans?

In true Kathleen fashion, her background as an academic is reflected in her prose, as this is an extremely well-written, highly detailed novel with rich lexicon. The MCs possess superior intellect and have a tendency to philosophize on topics regarding their values, morality and choice. This is a story filled with lust, loathing, love, revenge, acceptance and redemption.

Well there comes a time when you finally hate a MMC (in the most delicious way possible) one thing that Kathleen Haley did that blew me away was how she uses her words and her elevated word choice. This is something that I noticed right off the bat and appreciated all the way through to the end of the book. This book follows Fiona the Chef FMC and Crispin the MMC. After 10 years of being broken up (messy break up) Crispin reappears in Fiona’s life. He’s handsome, ridiculously rich, and has a taste for revenge and a beautiful way of holding grudges. She is a successful Chef, cunning, realistic, and resilient. The chemistry in between the pages of this book is an undeniably delicious slow burn. The spice is there in this book but not overpowering the plot and is tasteful and well written(again thank you.)
Kathleen’s extraordinary way of waving a very complicated story behind the scenes of this book will make you wonder where the story is going. There was never a time that I guessed correctly and the elements of surprise are absolutely gripping. Character depth you ask….there is absolutely NONE missing here! These characters have such a level of depth and detail you feel like you are there in the book walking through the story with these characters. Fiona the FMC has a career, smart as a whip, funny, and very realistic and resilient. She is amazing! Not to mention strong, cunning, and able to see the bigger picture throughout the show slow burn. But she is never that “damsel in distress” character. (Thank you!)
If you are a lover of dark romance, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, second chance, touch her and die, revenge, FMC Chef (I love this), stalking, bully. Well this book has been meticulously written for you. This book will obviously be intended for a more mature audience so please keep that in mind. This book is definitely a four star review for me as many working parts make this book up….not just the spice. Enjoy

As with the majority of her books, Kathleen Haley, can truly create a MMC that you hate to love and love to hate at the same time. Crispin is no different. He & Fiona's story began 10 years ago while she was 19 and in college. While the story is mostly her POV, you'll get both the past and present from both of them.
She's flourishing as a chef of her own restaurant while he's the morally black billionaire playing in, but mostly outside, of the law. Her life appears to have been simple & lackluster without him. He has been planning his revenge on her and others the entire time.
Heartache could have been avoided if his stubborn a$$ would have answered questions about his work...but we wouldn't have the angst and drama without that. 🤷🏼♀️ I absolutely loved that Fiona's sass was enough to keep up with him when necessary. His ruthlessness was something else though.
His belief of being possessed is interesting and something I did personally struggle with. I will admit to skipping through certain conversations about this. This is the only reason I didn't give a full 5⭐ on this one.
If you love some good philosophical discussions, drama, and awesome spice...you won't be disappointed.

I enjoyed the story. Crispin and Fiona dated for a while, but some things about their relationship were amiss, and they had to part at a bitter end.

Dang! What a book! Crispin was such a delicious complex and rich character. His philosophy on how he lives his life really had my gears turning trying to understand him. It wasn’t just me though Fiona was trying to understand his reasonings as well. Talk about morally grey. Fiona just made me hungry when she was creating dishes or describing the food she was enjoying. Honestly she’s such a contrasting personality to Crispin but they fit so well together, challenging each other’s basic values and moral compass. The question really then becomes how compromising are you willing to be for love? Which is what I think Fiona questioned and explored during this story.

Dangerously Possessed was a spicy hot read! Crispin and Fiona have such an intriguing dynamic, and I loved how the story alternates between the past and the present. Like so many characters in Kathleen’s books, Fiona fights back against the tidal wave that is Crispin but ends up falling back into him.
This book was a lovely compliment to the Senses series and the spicy spicy men. I loved how Crispin softens for Fiona and how she brings out a new side in him. I was entertained by all the threads between them as well as their undeniable chemistry!
This book had a great combination between the mystery surrounding Crispin and the ambition around her restaurant that Fiona has. There’s never a dull moment in those books and I enjoyed reading this one as much as the last Kathleen Haley book!

Wow that was a wild ride and I loved every single thing about it😉😂 Crispin is 100% a alphahole who thinks he's God's gift to this earth. You'll hate him then you'll hate you love him. Then if you're anything like me you'll fall head over heels in love with a new book boyfriend.

Crispin.... man did I not like him! He was almost as bad as Tybalt if not more! His obsession with Fiona was next level. And the fact that he did all that, to make her fall in love with him again only to punish her was insane. But not just to punish her, he was punishing her for something she didnt even know about because he had never told her... that's crazy to me. However, as with all these possessive billionaire men, when they realize their mistake, they know how to grovel. I did start to like him towards the end, but im not as forgiving as Fiona. I really enjoyed the stalker vibes in this. Kathleen really has a way with words. I get so sucked into her books I forget real life exists and I need to be part of that world too. This is a must read!!

Crispin and Fiona come from two completely different backgrounds. They originally meet during Fiona's sophomore year and were together 6 months. After ten years the two become reacquainted on new terms.
I really enjoyed being able to read glimpses of the past interactions and how the two met again ten years later. Kathleen Haley provides an emotional ride while building strong character development. I often found myself debating how I truly felt about the MMC.
Dangerously Possessed does a wonderful job of combining miscommunication and a second chance dark romance!

I think the book was good but I didn’t love it. It really was a slow start for me and took me a couple days to get into it. I really did want to finish because I needed to know why Crispin needed to use Fiona and what the story was gonna end into. The book did pick up a little after half way through which is when I got into it. I also just felt lost at some points and didn’t know what was going on. But I think that’s just a me problem lol. I did love how possessive and “she’s mine” he really was! You can tell he loves her after everything that happened all those years ago. Overall once finishing it, I did enjoy it.

Oooof this book was chefs💋 kiss! I absolutely loved the character building and the spice was nice! Crispin is the dominate grab the bull by the balls - and will take whatever he wants as his. Fiona is driven chef/restaurant owner of The Mermaids Coved who needs to make a decision - follow your gut or your heart?
Though it was a slow burn for me - once the fire sparked I was engulfed in no time.
