Just all around No… so I wrote a bit about this on SM. It’s Not the poly relationship. It’s how weird it is that they are insisting on being bodyguards to a Group while dating one of the group. It’s like being a Dr and treating your own immediate family. There are Reasons it’s never a good idea even if the whole bodyguard trope falling for their principal is a fun theme in romance. They Always have to stop being a bodyguard when found out. Here they asked the head of the company “ey Yo, we both want to date the lead in this band you are contracted to protect, and oh by the way we want to switch details and move here and buy a house with him. That ok?” Security company owner “Sure, here’s my real estate agent’s number”… just What?!

The second issue. Waaaaaaay too much talking. This is Not a how to book on PTSD or an actual therapy session. I do not enjoy wordy repeated checking in and rules even if it would 100% be necessary for a polyamorous couple when bringing in a third to their decades long relationship. Again, this is a fictional escapism story about a rockstar from the poor side of town and his two boyfriends who happen to have been together for decades.

Thirdly. These two bodyguards say they needed to introduce a third to their relationship because theirs had lost its whiz bang pow. I Never like a story where couples go “hey let’s open the relationship because we are bored with each other” just no.

Lastly, I don’t need parenting advice in my romance novels. If I had known this one had basically an older brother acting as a father to his much younger siblings while helping his single Mom Actively parent the younger siblings…I probably wouldn’t have read it.

I did like the first book in the series so I figured I would give this one a shot. I spent the first 25% of the novel irritated and annoyed. Finally gave up. (Mutters in irritation, bodyguards being allowed to date their principal is just not ok.)

4.5 stars An Chaotic Abyss book 2 after Strike A Chord which I highly recommend reading in order as the stories follow each other

At 27, Jason (Jase) gets his big break after he’d worked hard helping his mum and siblings out to where they are today. Chaotic Abyss band which Jase was apart of were getting ready for a new album and tour. I felt this needed a prologue at the beginning to catch us up to the story from book one as the first book was published a while ago but this is just my thoughts.

Sikes (aka Wyatt) and Snipe (aka Hayden) wanted to involve Jason into their relationship in a previous book which continues here.  S & S are 42 years ex-military (with PTSD) but now worked as bodyguards for Fizzbo protecting the bands.

This story includes all the emotions of them fitting into the menage relationship especially with the age gaps. A fast love connection from book 1 is made with Wyatt and Hayden entering Jason and his family lives. A slow romance with a little drama at the ending with an HEA finish.

First tour is in the works. Sikes and Snipe steadfast guards have found the man to complete their dreams. Not only do they get their third, he comes with a family that now has adopted them. This was a really sweet mmm bodyguards/ rockstar book. TL's rockstars are all great, and the new guys from Chaotic Abyss fit right into the musician family she created. I'm excited to see what's next in this series.

I received an advanced copy and voluntarily gave my honest review.
