Healer to the supernatural, Fiamette Jurato is under a curse caused by her own irreparable mistakes. The price? A life forever on the prowl for her next big meal. The cure? Could be the man she's about to betray.

When Tati, her new boss's video tech, collapses in an epileptic fit, Fia discovers the part-fae has been poisoned--with iron. And Tati has mere hours to live unless Fia can make a deal with a cantankerous old mountain troll named Skjoldolfr.

But if the troll's secret humate concoction is going to work, Fia also needs to recharge her healing magic in a big way. And the vampire feast she's set her sights on turns out to be none other than the Philadelphia nest's second-in-command, Hrossbjorn Rothgard. And the troll's sworn enemy.

In exchange for the cure, Skjoldolfr demands Fia get him inside the vampire's stronghold. But once there she discovers Hrossbjorn is much more than a meal and she's gotten herself in the middle of a 200-year-oldfeud. Hrossbjorn could be the key to ending the curse Fia's been looking for, but in order to save Tati she'll have to betray him, and her last and only chance for redemption.

Author builds an enticing world set in our real life locations. Will make you think twice about a large bare footed male sitting on a street corner, is he what you think he is? Who is at fault - the vampires or trolls?

I received this book free for an honest review.
This still seemed short to me, but perhaps longer than the first. I'm glad I'm reading them altogether as a set.
In this we learn a little bit more of what she is searching for and why. She thinks she's found it but then doesn't stick around to find out... We learn more about Tati who maybe isn't as annoying as in the first book but then she's sick and quiet for most the book soo.....
I have my suspicions about who her partner might be and I really think opening up at least to Dee would be in her best interest.
Given how giving and self sacrificing she is I really don't get how she's survived this long.

WOW - I just love love love this series.

I love the way that Melissa Lummis draws you into the story and keeps you wondering exactly what is going to happen next. She tells the reader just enough about Fia for that story - but in the next part of the series, you continue to learn more. I love the twist that are thrown in to keep the reader off guard. I don't write spoilers -- but OMG- this is an awesome series!!!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.

I enjoy the books in this series but not worth $.99! They are too short!! I read in just over 2 hours!! The whole series in one day! Could've put them all together for one maybe 2 FULL books!
