Some fights aren’t meant to be won—only survived. With the Dracolich Empire’s invasion looming and conspiracies closing in, Alistair Blackstar must make his final stand. The assassin in his head, Ghost, is growing restless, his thirst for vengeance clashing with Alistair’s desperate need to protect his friends, his academy, and the entire kingdom. And somehow, he still has classes to attend.
But raw power won’t be enough. To stop the invasion, Alistair must master his Resonant Cards, unlock the full might of his forbidden magic, level up, and walk the razor’s edge between protector and destroyer.
The final battle is upon them, and the shadow of a necrotic invasion threatens to consume everything.
Will Alistair and Ghost stand together—or will the assassin within finally take control?

Author Harmon Cooper creates an entertaiing conclusion to the Reborn Assassin series. In it, famed assassin, Ghost, gets betrayed and killed by his fellow assassins. He finds himself reborn in the body of a spindley magic student, Alistair.
After taking over his body to help save his life, they go through years of student life together, while Ghost trains Allistair in the assassin business to get his revenge on his killers.
While that is underway, Allistair is increasing his magical powers.
Magical and assassin powers come together in the third book to save the kingdom from a zombie invasion.
If you like litrpg and progressive fantasies, you'll like this series.
Ohhhh. Man. That was Hella great!!! But really the book should've been named Dungeons, Murder, Magic, and Lies or maybe that's too on the nose, huh, I wonder?!? But that's neither here nor there, it is what it is.. I love the snappy comments that fly as Alistair and Ghost go at each other even though it's only in Alistair head... And also how they can seamlessly work together smoothly sharing their single body. Yeah, Alistair's still lying about Ghost's true identity to his friends. Only Kanda has figured out the truth of this and she isn't talking. And well Ghost he has his own agenda seeking revenge and murdering those that murdered him! (Wanna know about Ghost? Read the trilogy.) There's plenty to love in this FannnFriggenTastic book/series. First it's a deck-building litRPG adventure which I adore. Second the companion beast's are all awesome each with their own personalities. And third, but not least, it's got pedal-to-the-metal action all the way to the end... I'm sorry to see that this is the conclusion to this dynamite series, but alas it was just an awesome experience, c'est la vie. So grab this action-driven litRPG adventure. I promise you won't be able to put it down!!!
Here's a few quotes that amused me:
"Especially when people turn in books that have been elf-eared."
"I'd rather have nightmares than look at you, no offense."
"And some of that information was a book that was written by T-A-R-N-I-S about dungeons." "Why did you spell it out" Juno asked. "It seemed suspenseful."
What a fabulous finale and a thoroughly enjoyable series.
Our hero Alistair Blackstar is having to cope (more than usual) with an increasingly unsettled Ghost in his head. It's hard enough to ensure that he's attending classes with his friends, never mind remembering not to tell someone about one thing and telling someone else to keep the secret - AND stopping everyone else from suspecting that Alistair has a reborn master assassin that can take over his body at will.
This is the final, all-out battle: vengeance; zombies; mega-action; wonderful summons ('mon Ziggy!); outlawed Cards; forbidden magic; and astuteness.
Riveting magical stuff! I will miss all these characters very much, but secretly hope to find some between another future book's pages.
What an ending as we progress through the academy, this did seem to go quite quick towards the end. With such a character like Ghost I was constantly surprised as we learnt more about his past and the path to revenge. Would be nice to see more from this world however as Cooper always does that part so well.
Too much dialogue and all of the voices were sarcastic. No character development and side characters were paper thin. Very little happened, there was no plan just some bouncing around and while the resolution was acceptable, there never felt like there was any danger.
There is one universal truth that no one lives forever. I was amazed at the plan Alister and Ghost did to take down Ghost's enemies. It was a good adventure. I thought Alister might die near the end, but I am glad he survived to live another day.
