High school student Kaede’s new job is out of this world―or at least his clients are... High schooler Kaede uses his uncanny ability to sniff out fact from fiction for Cosmos, an intergalactic insurance company whose clients are extraterrestrial visitors to Earth. And now his own life is about to get out of this world! Alien abduction is in the air…so to speak. When an alien princess vanishes, it’s not exactly clear who abducted whom or why...but it’s still up to Kaede and Rin to rescue her. Buoyed by their success, our team moves on to investigate a literal case of kidnapping that creates an ethical dilemma. By the way, is it true that Rin is only in this for the money?

Second volume was as good as the first, and slightly easier to follow. Kaede, the high school boy who can smell lies, learns to his surprise that Rin, the girl who recruited him to Cosmos, an insurance company insuring aliens coming to earth, is his school mate. But she's also his boss.

The first insurance case they investigate is a kidnapping of an alien princess, that turns out to be something completely different. The second case is apprehending an alien who abducted a baby four years ago and has raised her as her own. It doesn't have quite the happy ending Kaede would've hoped, but he's learning the basic principle of Cosmos: it's about money.

Both cases were emotional and interesting. Kaede didn't really get to do anything worthwhile though, and his ability to smell lies was almost unused. But we get hints of Rin's past as an alien abductee. I hope there'll be more about that in the next volume.

I received a free copy from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.

Kaede is still working with Rin Homura to take down an alien in disguise as a school student who is scamming to have the funds to pay his insurance premium. But that does not turn out well for him. Then the duo has to deal with a "kidnapped" princess. And the latter half of the of the book involves a cold case of a kidnapped child being raised as human by an alien which begs the question - what makes a person a good parent? Plenty of action and interesting plots and fun dialog. A good sequel to the first volume.

This was such a good second installment of Cosmos! It was interesting seeing the different jobs they went on, and the different types of people and aliens that are in this world. I like how there were long stories in this as well, as opposed to a bunch of smaller ones. I feel like they would be too rushed if the chapters were any smaller. I'm looking forward to the next volume!

Such a good series so far! A perfect blend of silly and serious, introspective sci-fi with shenanigans. I love the main cast, especially that dinosaur guy. The earring device was a nice touch. Definitely looking forward to volume 3!
