Does the perfect plan have a surprise ending? Wedding consultant Theresa "Teddy" Granville helps her clients plan lavish black-tie ceremonies, though her own love life is strictly casual. Her matchmaking mother's latest candidate, Adam Sullivan, may be sexy but besides being successful, they have little in common. Agreeing to a fake relationship to fool her mother could make both their lives easier. But their unexpected slow-burning kisses and scorching nights are anything but make-believe. Adam's "marriage pact" with Teddy was supposed to be a temporary arrangement. Suddenly he's realizing just how deeply he desires this intelligent, passionate woman. In business, he's known for taking big risks and reaping bigger rewards. Now he's playing for the highest stakes of all, hoping he can convince Teddy to trust him-and her heart-before she walks away forever….
Shirley Hailstock loves reading. She'd like nothing better than to find a corner in the library and get lost in a book, explore new worlds and visit places she never expected to see. Now as an author, she can not only visit those places, but she can be the heroine of her own stories.
A past president of Romance Writers of America, Shirley began her writing career on a dare. Taking a year to complete her first manuscript, the writing bug bit her and she discovered telling stories of love and adventure was what she wanted to spend her life doing.
I've wanted to read this book since I listened to the audiobook of His Love Match the first time. I re-listened to His Love Match and finally don't have KU stress and less election/government stress ... so ... READING! YAY!
This is a DELIGHTFUL CONFECTION OF A BOOK. I really liked Teddy, and wanted to read her HEA.
And I actually liked that she and Adam didn't like each other initially. Or ... she didn't particularly like Adam, and honestly he was an ass. He did apologize though. Of course having a bad day "isn't an excuse" but we all have bad days and fuck up - and again. He apologized, and they did have a nice dinner.
I will say I kinda ... like once things really get started, when Adam tells his mom he loves Teddy ... and oh my god the Thanksgiving thing. Like ... after that mess; when they're found out afterwards- WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL HER. WHY. WHY YOU IDIOT MAN.
Also ... I'm kinda confused as to what exactly upset Teddy at Adam's VP's holiday party? Like the fact that Adam seemed to have a bevvy of women? But ... previously? Like ... is dude not allowed to have a past?
Idunno. It seemed kinda extreme. Also odd since they talked through [nearly] everything else ... but not that ...
And then the whole Chloe thing for him and Chad thing for her - though Chad was a lot less of an issue...
Adam and his brother going to the bridal show was pretty cute, although it did seem kinda random. [Especially since Teddy was like "this is the most romantic thing ever" - is it? Honestly I thought him DRIVING TO HIS OWN HOUSE TO PICK UP A ROSE then BRINGING IT BACK TO HER HOUSE to leave it with a note for her at her house after their first night together was way more romantic.
I also didn't quite get the point of Veronica showing up over and over again 🤷🏻♀️ but whatever.
And honestly, these are pretty nit picky things.
I think I liked Adam and his brothers more than Teddy's family. Of course her family is more spread out and she has Diana, while Adam's brothers are right there. :P If this were Brenda Jackson the siblings would be having their own book too and - the ones that paired; and everyone else too. :P I guess I should go looking 😇
Anyway I really enjoyed this book and am looking to read the next in the series, and many more Hailstock books. Just a really enjoyable contemporary that I read this morning.
Mothers shouldn't get in their son\daughter business like that. Once they are grown, we have to let them live. Teddy and Adam just didn't believe in love. Their hearts suffered in the end when given it freely. But they were unaware that the plan they came up with was steering them towards each other. Communication was good but not when the other party don't reveal all to the other. The chemistry was the off the charts. The characters were well developed. This e-book is highly recommended.
How many times I have read pretend romances? Too many to remember. Shirley Hailstock took this theme and with her special touch made it a joy to read. The ending as usual left me happy and satisfied.
This was a very nice love story that I thought was comical because both Adam and Teddy lost time with their fake relationship and engagement. I guess they both got what they deserved from their mothers for the prank that they played on them. In the end they both had to come clean as true love claimed and destined them to be together!
This is the second book in the Wedding series and I really enjoyed this book just as much as the first. Such a cute romance novel. i just loved Teddy and Adams story. Really cute and quick you will not be disappointed.
There was no other rating to give this book! I love this book I couldn't put it down! I would recommend this book to anyone who loves romance!! Loved It. Read it you will to!
Mothers will be mothers, that's an under statement when it comes to to the mothers of Teresa "Teddy" Grandville and Adam Sullivan. These mothers want to be grandmothers but the plan they set in motion back fires. Who will win, this game of mothers against children.
Great second book. The chose a round about way to love that was very lively and entertaining. While trying to fool both sets of parents Adam and Teddy quickly become a couple for real
