Rate this book
In New Orleans' shadows, a fae huntress and a half-demon bartender must unite against darkness—or watch their worlds fall apart.

In the vibrant heart of New Orleans, where magic seeps through cobblestone streets and jazz fills the night air, Savannah Duvall leads a double life. By day, she's a talented graphic designer yearning for normalcy; by night, she's a water fairy bound by destiny to hunt the demons that threaten her city. Isolated by her dual nature, Savannah's latest hunt leads her to The Obsidian Lounge, a new nightclub pulsing with dark energy and secrets she can't ignore.

Gage Tremblay seeks refuge in the shadows. Born half shifter/half demon … Rougarou, he's torn between worlds that both reject him. Taking a job as a bartender at The Obsidian Lounge, he hopes to find peace but instead becomes entangled in a sinister plot that could unleash chaos upon the city he now calls home.

When their paths collide, an undeniable attraction sparks between Savannah and Gage—an attraction both intoxicating and dangerous. As demonic forces gather and a malevolent scheme threatens to poison New Orleans itself, they must set aside mistrust and unite their contrasting powers. Navigating a labyrinth of dark rituals, underground realms, and their own conflicted hearts, they discover that only together can they thwart an impending apocalypse.

In a world where magic is unrestrained and love crosses the boundaries of fate, Savannah and Gage must embrace their true selves to save not just the city, but each other.

THE MASTER IS COMING—A NEW HELL IS RISING

“New Orleans was a city of secrets, and the Duvall sisters were amongst its most dangerous. The girls were ready, trained from childhood to wield magic like a weapon, their curvy bodies trained and honed into fighting machines. But there was one thing they hadn’t prepared for—their fated mates.”

“You won’t know your full power until you find him. And when you do—everything will change.”

“The Grimm Files were more than a curse. They were a prophecy. One that could either save the world—or destroy it.”

The series will revolve around the four Duvall sisters, who are fae—Phoenix, Geneva, Savannah, and Catalina. They will share a stately home with their late mother’s sister, Aunt Maeve. The story will include good versus evil, magic, shifters, and demons. When heavy demonic activity is more prevalent in New Orleans, they know that they must act swiftly, not only for supernatural beings but for humans too.

The third story in the series will focus on the youngest sister, Savannah, a water fae who is a graphic designer by day, and demon hunter by night. She will team up with Gage Tremblay, a Rougarou. Gage has taken a new position as a bartender at the Obsidian Lounge, owned by Edward Falwell. Savannah shows up the day before the grand opening and asks for a job as a waitress, where Gage hires her and starts her immediately. She knows the club is in a place known for magic and needs to find out what is going on. Falwell is meeting in secret with Madame Vesper Nightshade, a centuries-old vampire.

Vesper: And you’re sure no one suspects anything?
Falwell: Not a soul.

Gage and Savannah will team up to try and discover what Falwell and Vesper are up to and hopefully stop the heavy demon activity. What neither one expected was to develop an attraction to one another, but they do, and rather than fight it, they embrace it.

Gage: I’m not your enemy, Savannah.
Savannah: Then what are you?
Gage: Rougarou.
Savannah: Rougarou? Seriously? I thought they were just some kind of legendary wolf-shifters that lived in the swamps.
Gage: No. My kind can live anywhere—cities, swamps, deserts, forests, doesn’t matter. I think most wolf-shifters made up those stories as they don’t like to admit the truth. We’re half demon, half wolf-shifter. Generally, those matings aren’t consensual.
Savannah: How you came into this world—what your parents did or didn’t do—that’s nothing on you. You are who you decide to be. And what I see is a brave, honorable man who, despite a demonic nature, has chosen the way of the light.

The story was a page-turning, action-packed tale in a battle of good versus evil. Overcoming demonic forces that want to control the world, humans, shifters, etc. It is two supernatural beings, a Rougarou and a water fae working together, not for themselves, but for all beings, and their beloved town of New Orleans. The story will bring in other characters from previous stories in this series, and how they all work together when needed. In the end, Gage and Savannah discover they are just right for one another.

Gage: You don’t understand. It’s not safe. I might hurt you, or worse, I might lose myself completely.
Savannah: Safe isn’t what I need right now, Gage. I love you. I need you, all of you. I want to feel every part of you, even the darkness.

Magic Unrestrained picks up shortly after the conclusion of Magic Unbound, the second book in The Grimm Files series. The reader rejoins Savannah Duvall, the youngest of four fae sisters living in New Orleans. Savannah and her sisters Geneva, Phoenix, and Catalina are carrying on their mother and aunt's legacy of hunting demons and protecting New Orleans from supernatural threats. Each sister has a journal, passed down through their family, detailing their family history, their powers, and prophecies. Savannah's sisters have all found their fated mates, which has caused their powers to surge, but they are not fully unrestrained. According to the journals, the sisters will only reach their full potential once they have all found their mates. Dun dun dun

Magic Unrestrained focuses on Savannah's burgeoning relationship with Gage Tremblay, a Rougarou—half wolf-shifter, half-demon—who has recently moved to New Orleans. Savannah first encounters Gage in her dreams and then in real life when she applies for a job at The Obsidian Lounge, where he is a bartender. Savannah is suspicious of The Obsidian Lounge as she should be because of their association with a notorious vamp.

Throughout the course of the novel, Savannah and Gage investigate The Obsidian Lounge and work together to thwart evil plans. They also fight off demons, navigate the treacherous New Orleans sewer system, and contend with the interference of Lyrion Thornheart. What better way to fall in love. Savannah is determined to stay in New Orleans and protect the city, even if it means defying the fae council and she and Gage work together, their connection deepens, and they eventually confess their love for one another.

Savannah is a skilled demon hunter who is not afraid to take on powerful enemies. She is also fiercely loyal to her family and to the city of New Orleans. Gage is powerful and dangerous, but he is also deeply conflicted about his mix. The chemistry is palpable and combustible.

The book is fast - paced and filled with suspense. There are several exciting scenes, including fight scenes with demons, a rave interrupted by demons and the climax.

For sure a 3/5 on steam as well.

Though there is a neat climax we know their fight to protect New Orleans with her sisters will continue. Which is how the series is meant to continue.

If you like paranormal romance and urban fantasy this is a good read. It has everything. It's a fast-paced and exciting read with plenty of action, suspense, and romance.

I think though if you are new to the series you will want to start at the beginning for the world building and connections being established.

3.5stars-MAGIC UNRESTRAINED is the third instalment in Delta James’ contemporary, adult THE GRIMM FILES erotic, paranormal/fantasy series focusing the Duvall sisters. This is demon hunting water faery / graphic designer Savannah Duvall, and bartender / musician/ wolf-demon hybrid (Rougarou) Gage Tremblay’s story line. MAGIC UNRESTRAINED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Savannah and Gage) MAGIC UNRESTRAINED follows Savannah Duvall as she tries to uncover the truth about a new hotspot known as The Obsidian Lounge where she will come face to face with her future in the guise of Gage Tremblay. Dark, demonic, old magic is brewing in the city of NOLA, and our couple find themselves caught in the middle of a demon uprising while trying to navigate their new found fated relationship.

The world building is fast and furious. Another Duvall sister finds her fated mate in the melee that is the NOLA world of the supernatural.

The relationship between Savannah and Gage begins a co-workers who are both investigating the dark energy seeping into their city but as Gage struggles to keep his demon side controlled, our couple will need all of their magic to take those the people in charge. The $ex scenes are impassioned and provocative.

The secondary and supporting characters are limited. Detective Griff Broussard, and Finn O’Riley return, as well as the introduction of Grungle the Sewer King, and ancient vampire Vesper.

MAGIC UNRESTRAINED is a fast paced, quick read focusing on power and control, acceptance and love, magic and madness. The premise is enchanting but the conflict resolution was over too quick; the romance is limited but fated; the characters are dynamic.

On their 16th birthday the descendants of Charlotte Grimm, part fae, and yes, the sister to the Brothers Grimm; the Duvall sisters receive their own Grimm File which contains everything they need to fight demons and other supernatural creatures. I love this series and this book didn’t disappoint. Phoenix & Catalina have gotten their books and now it is Savannah’s turn. As the baby of the family, her element is water and she is searching for another big problem in New Orleans. She works with her sisters and their mates (Griff & Zane) who happen to be cops, to stop demons and the like from taking over. Pulse, the newest & hottest club has a really dark side to it, and Savannah decides to go undercover to find out more information regarding the bad guys and what they are up to. The book made me laugh, cry, chew on my nails and need the AC on for both the fear sweating and the steam that comes off of Savannah and the bartender/boss of the front of the club, Gage Trembley. We find out that he is also looking into something, that he is a supernatural - a rougarou, half wolf shifter, half demon, and a total bad…. lol. Being forced into such close proximity while in danger forces them to admit that they have feelings for each other. I spent a lot of the time while reading the book going “WHAT—?!?!” lol. I loved it and can’t wait to see what happens with the last sister, Geneva, who is the assistant ME (medical examiner) for the Crescent City.

This is the third book in the series, a simply captivating read that I highly recommend
Savannah is the youngest sister of the Duvall sisters, by the light of day she is a graphic artist, working hard to ensure that there is cash in the bank and food on the table which is not always as easy as you might believe.
Gabe is a recent addition to the community and he is looking for a new start in the New Orleans community, he is part wolf and part demon a secret that he guards closely as he simply wants to get on with his life.
Whilst working in the bar he happens to overhear a conversation and knows that they are plotting to cause someone or some thing harm and this piques his interest, then when a beautiful blue haired woman enters the bar, he knows that she is special. Savannah recognises instantly that the man behind the bar is a shifter, she is not at that time aware of how their lives are actually linked but this will soon become apparent.
Together they will bravely join forces and the magical abilities as they battle the darkness that threatens all, it will not be easy battling the demons and they could possibly die doing so but they will not back down.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.

'Magic Unrestrained' is the third book in Delta James' "The Grimm Files". It's filled with good vs. evil, a bit of flirtatious relief, a human-fae hybrid, a wolf-shifter/fae hybrid, vampires, fae, humans, and shifters.
Savannah Duvall, the youngest of the four fae sisters is a demon hunter by night, as are her sisters, and a graphic designer by day. Each sister has her special power to use, and Savannah's is water. She's been investigating Falwell, the owner of The Obsidian Lounge which is about to open. She decides to go undercover as a waitress. In doing so, she meets Gage, the bartender, who hires her on the spot and has her starting immediately. An instant chemistry builds between these two that leaves the air crackling. Unfortunately, they both carry secrets and have obstacles to overcome while dealing with their feelings.
Evil has made its presence known again and is trying to find a new way to regain power. Savannah and Gage need to fully accept themselves without reservation before they can stop what's going on. And then it happens. Gage's demon half has control of him and it's not wanting to relinquish the transformation. Although afraid, Savannah makes herself vulnerable and embraces the demon while declaring her love for all of him.
This was truly a magnificent read.

The Duvall sisters can't stay out of the trouble that's so inherent to New Orleans. This time it's Savannah who senses something is amiss. Her fae senses lead her to Obsidian, the newest hot-spot in town. Gage is the manager there and, like her, this Rougarou (wolf shifter-demon mix) senses things aren't right and that they are connected with Falwell and Madame Vesper. Though their both trying to understand, and ultimately put an end to, the same threat, Gage and Savannah do not trust eachother at all. They are both highly suspicious and trying to finesse answers out of the other, without divulging their own hand. Tricky situation!

The world building here, as in the previous books, is simply phenomenal. I could feel the tension, danger and power as clearly as if I were in the scene. The snarkiness and interactions, between not only the MCs but the secondaries as well, drew me deeper into the story. Additionally, the balance between the romantic and the fantasy/drama plots was ideal.

So far, three of the sisters have increased their power, leaving Geneva as the lone sister to find her mate. Any guesses guys?😉 I received this book as a gift and voluntarily provided this review. Happy Reading Y'all 📚

This one is Savannah and Gage's story. I expected the quick action-packed story and got it. The Fae interceding more after the background we know wasn't quite expected especially after the last story. The little paragraph that dealt with their aunt's action seemed they'd let her off way too easily and put the blame on the Fae. Once again, an old friend pops in for a bit of conversation. That's more than welcomed.

The romantic story is this one is the reason for the rating. There's really not one. There appears to be a bit of the story that was edited possibly by accident. It just didn't flow between their first romantic interaction and next meeting. I think it would have been a bit better had the romantic story had a bit more communication and the action story had a bit more working together. Sometime the story doesn't work for every couple and this one seemed more forced than the normal free flow. It didn't push the story arc forward, left more questions, and wondered why these two got together. Magic Unbound (Book 3 of The Grimm Files) is a thrilling paranormal romance set in the enchanting streets of New Orleans. This time, we follow Savannah Duvall, a water fairy and fierce demon huntress, as she crosses paths with Gage Tremblay, a half-demon bartender torn between two worlds. Their connection is undeniable, intense, electric, and full of chemistry that leaps off the page.
What really stood out to me in this book is how much the story has grown. The world-building is phenomenal, pulling you deeper into this magical universe with every page. Savannah is such a badass heroine, and I couldn’t help but root for her throughout. Gage has his own struggles. Together, they make an unforgettable couple, and they might just be my favourite pair in the series so far.
This book felt fresh and exciting, better than Book 2. It’s fast-paced, full of action, romance, and just the right amount of spice. If you’re looking for a quick, steamy read that’s packed with magic, adventure, and heart, I can’t recommend this book enough. I absolutely enjoyed it and can’t wait to see where the series goes next!

Savannah Duvall is restless, she senses rising demonic energy in New Orleans and like her sisters, she has sworn to protect the city she calls home and everyone who lives there with her life if necessary. Gage Tremblay is new to the city and looking forward to starting his new bartending job at the city's newest nightclub, The Obsidian Lounge. When Savannah asks for a job, he hires her immediately even after sensing a power in her he can't identify. Unfortunately, the instant attraction they feel for each other may have to wait while they fight together to save New Orleans from those who are determined to unleash demons using dark rituals.

Steamy and quick read with fascinating and well written characters. Surprising twists and a happily ever after. I think this is a must-read book I recommend it and the rest of this series to other readers.

The words are there, just not the emotion. Magic Unrestrained is the third book in the Grimm Files by Delta James.
This is a fast story which seems to leave out more than it puts in. I'm not sure I understand the purpose of this series. Is it a continuation of the fight taking place in the Otter Cove and Mystic River series or is it supposed to be separate. If it is supposed to be separate, why are the Duvall sisters mentioned in the Shadow Sisters books? Is it just to sell more books or is there a connection that will be revealed at a later time.
I feel the whole story arc has gotten too large and cumbersome and these latest books are just throwing people together for the sex scenes and the fighting.
In my opinion, the only redeeming quality of this book is the lack of egregious mistakes found in so many of Ms. James latest works.
I received this book as an ARC and am leaving my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this 3rd book in the Grimm Files series. Having read the first two books, this one builds from where those two left off and to me seemed focused more on a mission that teams up Savannah and Gage.

These two have immediate chemistry when she walks into the Obsidian Club asking for a waitressing job. They are drawn to each other and end up searching under the Club in the basement for the source of dark magic and power they can feel being unleashed. Their unexpected partnership sparks their attraction into a sizzling hot interlude.

This short book focuses so much more around Savannah and Gage as they interact with some side characters and situations. Fewer other characters to give attention to kept the story streamlined and fast moving.

Definitely a good amount of steamy sizzle for such a short book.

‘Magic Unrestrained” is the third book in the Grimm Files series and these features Savannah Duvall, the youngest of four sisters who are fae, each with their own special talent. Savannah is a demon hunter by night, as are her sisters, and a graphic designer by day. Her job is to protect New Orleans from demons. She senses something is wrong at the Obsidian Lounge. She decides to apply for a waitressing position and is interviewed by Gage, the manager and a wolf shifter/demon.

The owner of the bar and a vampire are planning something nefarious, and Gage and Savannah are trying to discover what is it. With many instances of intense danger, together they discover the plot, as they work to protect New Orleans from the evil forces.

Each book focuses on one of the Duvall sisters and their soon to be discovered mates. It’s a fascinating series, filled with passion, danger, and magic. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Fighting With A Devil
A new series about the four Duvall sisters, part fae, part human, living in New Orleans and fighting demons and other evil to keep the city safe. Each book is a separate HEA of one of the sisters and each has her own element in which resides her power.
Savannah, with her element air, can fly around NO in her nightly search for evil demons. When she meets Gage they feel the connection, but it takes time to trust each other enough to show their true selves and find out what the combination of their power entails.
As all four sisters and their partners fight the evil that threatens NO I would have liked more interaction between them all. In my view that would have enhanced the whole story through the books.

Savannah and Gage lead the next installment in this steamy paranormal series. While not quite as good as book 2, there is still plenty to enjoy in this book. Both had secrets and both had obstacles to overcome but it did not stop the love from blooming quickly between the two. Honestly, I think the best moment between the two was when Savannah used her love to talk Gage off the proverbial cliff. In that moment, their love and connection felt genuine.

The mystery was another take on an evil demon or demon cabal trying to rule the world but the underground king got the last laugh. However, while the mystery was similar without the fun tech edge to the previous, there is something more brewing which I hope future books explore.

This is the third book in the series. This book is about Savannah, the youngest sister who is just as tough and powerful as her older sisters. Trouble continues to brew and in trying to figure out what is going on, she meets Gage who is just as powerful and secretive as she is. Sparks fly immediately and they learn fast to trust each other as they rely on each other to survive. I enjoyed the flow of this story slightly more than the previous ones and look forward to reading story of the fourth and final sister. Why not 5 stars? Because although there were references to Savannah wanting a rough D/s dynamic, in my opinion she never fully surrendered control in those intimate situations. I think it could have gone much further.

This is the third story about the Duvell sisters. Savannah and Gage. It is a standalone story but to get the most out of the book it should be read in order because of the backstory.

Action pack from page one. I liked Gage's special skill/gift. He is unique even in the supernatural world.

Savannah was a true warrior. Going into danger head first. But when it really matters she uses her wit to take on the many situations they seem to get themselves into.

They fought well together.

I liked the interaction between Savannah and Griff .

HEA/HFN Steam to the eventual romance. And a splash of humor to make things interesting.

I don't know if it's instalove or instant recognition of a mate but the Duvall sisters, guardians of the city of New Orleans, are falling one by one. This is water faery Savannah's story. Gage is half wolf shifter and half demon. Together Savannah and Gage fight to stop a nefarious plot to open a doorway for demons into the city, and Savannah may be the only one that can stop Gage from losing control over his demon side. It's a very quick read and although I prefer stories with more grit and depth, I did enjoy it. The characters are likeable and the story held my interest all the way through. 3.5 stars

OMG this was a great story. It was a page turner and the suspense was insane. I was on the edge of my seat and I couldn't even put it down. Savannah was of the powerful of the Duvall sisters. Gage was a shifted beast and they romance was forbidden. The sparks between them has ignited the fire within her soul. Could they be falling in love with each other. Could he be her true mate or will her sisters reacted to the news. Will she loss her powers when it come to him in this moment. Danger is among them and they don't even know it if it is going to happen.

I highly recommend this book and you won't be disappointed.

Magic Unrestrained is book 3 in the Grimm Files series by Delta James. These stories follow four amazing Half Fae sisters Phoenix, Catalina, Geneva, and Savannah; all are born and raised to fight demons, and other evil beings. Each sister was told they would not come into their full powers until they located their true fated mates. This is Savannah's story, she is a graphic designer by day and demon hunter by night. There is plenty of action in all of their stories but this one just blew it out of the water! The tension between the couple and of following good but having to release their powers in order to save New Orleans is amazing!! Great story!!

a very good book with an intricate plot with a lot of twists and details. great character development esp of the supernatural sides and descriptions of the evil they are fighting in the city.

gage and savannah develop their feelings quite quickly in this book and must learn to embrace who they truly are in whole and together to be strong enough to fight the darkness while also trying to figure out who is causing the evil, what the plan is and how to save the city.
strong richly detailed characters who are loyal, feisty, strong, dependable, smart, sensitive and willing to fight no matter what it takes on the city of good.

I liked the rhythm of this book, how the MC worked together and fell in love. Again, learning more about their environment and the clashing views and actions of the individuals around them was fun to read. I think I liked the plot and how Savannah and Gage interacted. It was different than the previous books, though I won't reveal too much, and I think that made a difference, especially for Savannah. In every story, we get a new villain but I like the light versus dark theme that's there in all books. Overall, it was a nice story and continuation! Can't wait to see what's next!

Fast paced, but captivating short novella continuing with the demon hunting Duvall Sisters series featuring Savannah. She meets Gage, a rougarou, wolf/demon, in the Obsidian Lounge, where dark evil forces are at work. As fated mates, the attraction is instant and explosive, but a dangerous, complicated partnership. Madam Vesper, a notorious vampire, is in the midst of the creating hell on earth. The battle ensuing to stop Vesper, had Grungle, the Sewerage King, new on the scene. Missed not having more of the previous characters here, though Gage made a strong MC.

The battle of New Orleans is ramping up!

Book 3 in this series did not disappoint. The battle between good and evil ramps up with every book in this series, with New Orleans being ground zero. With an increase in demons to slay, Savannah and Gage must work together to stop the evil that is everywhere. But working together when you find out you are fated mates, is not always easy. Too many secrets. But Gage will need Savannah to embrace who he truly is in order to fight back the evil. The question becomes, will it be enough? A truly riveting read. I can hardly wait to read the next story in this series. If it is anything like this and the previous two books, it will be epic.

Each book in the Grimms Tales series is better than the last. The Duvall sisters are still trying to save New Orleans in this book full of vampires, fae, demons and so much evil. This is Gage and Savannah's story and it is intense and full of suspense, mystery and romance. Savannah has been sketching a man's face she has only seen in her dreams. When she meets Gage she is shocked and feels as if she knows him. They're many characters in this book but I would have loved to have seen more of the Duvall family as the fight for New Orleans continues. The chemistry is strong between Gage and Savannah. I cannot wait to see what the next book brings. You cannot stop reading this series.
