The Ghosts of Rose Radcliffe #2

The Haunting of Marlstone Hall

Rate this book
They came to debunk a haunting. They left forever changed.

Ten years ago, Rebecca and Jonathan Pearson were confident sceptics – respected university professors by day, paranormal investigators by night. Their mission was expose hoaxes, explain the unexplainable, and prove that ghosts were nothing more than stories.

Then came Marlstone Hall.

Hidden deep in the English countryside, the old orphanage has a dark reputation – whispered tales of shadows in the corridors, of children waking to find figures looming over their beds. To the Pearsons, it seems like just another case. But as their investigations begin to unravel, so too do their assumptions.

The phenomena defy logic. The house resists explanation. And the deeper they go, the more they begin to suspect the unthinkable – that Marlstone Hall isn’t just haunted… it’s alive.

The Haunting of Marlstone Hall is the chilling second tale in the Ghosts of Rose Radcliffe series, chronicling the case that changed everything. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone story, but reading in order reveals the full evolution of the team and the secrets that continue to haunt them.

Short, sweet, and, surprisingly, quite good!

A distinguished academic, with a first class reputation for debunking so-called paranormal activity, visits the supposedly haunted Marlstone Hall. Here, he hopes to debunk yet another false claim of paranormal activity but fails spectacularly and "dies" shortly after.

Two former colleagues of the deceased professor also decide to visit Marlstone Hall, in order to verify their belief that ghosts do not exist. However, things don't go to plan and what follows is a cat and mouse struggle of supernatural proportions.

This was a short but rather enjoyable tale of stage managed illusion, academic arogance and good, old fashioned, spooky happenings👻.

This was was really enjoyable, I liked seeing the background of how they got into paranormal investigating and how they met rose, the plot of the book was very thrilling but it was a little slow in my opinion. But overall it was still an enjoyable book and I would recommend it!

Rose’s origin story. This seems to be at least part of it: how she came to be with the Pearsons. Not all things are answered so there is still much to find out in the books ahead.
No spoilers but I will say; some ppl are so stubborn and ignorant that a ghost could manifest from their nostril and they wouldn’t believe it.
They could witness the second coming or an Angel coming to make a proclamation - or be witness to Moses delivering festive burning shrubbery and try to explain it away.
I mean a little whoah and awe is good but ppl in here … it’s like just give it up cause now you’re just being stupid.

Left me wanting more...in a good way

I wasn't so sure as I started this book, but it ended up being very unique and enthralling. I love the play back and forth between what was real and what was fabricated. Overall, a very fun story. I really want there to be a second one, or three, with the same characters and the same Manor.

I really enjoy reading Amy Cross novels, they are very entertaining. Although these stories are based on Ghosts and the Supernatural, it's hard to categorise them beyond a really good read, they're not horror and they barely reach the level of supernatural. I do enjoy the ride that Amy Cross takes the reader on and I don't know if she has done a outright horror novel yet I will still be reading the content she puts out. I have all but the last book in this series and look forward to reading the next book in the series.

An interesting read - though I find, as I often do with Amy Cross, that a bit more editing would help. (Purists may want to abstain.)

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. The series is called The Ghosts of Rose Radcliffe, but in the first two volumes, Rose is not a main character. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Hauntingly awesome

Poor Rose, she's in for a scary bad time, and then the ending is totally unexpected. Rebecca and Jonathan are being led around and don't even know what is going on. You'll love reading before it all.

Would have given 5 stars???

A good quick read. I would have given 5 stars if not for so very many misspelled words - just check out the first few pages. I hope the rest of the books in the series have a better proofreader..

Great ghost story

Imagine being lured on a paranormal investigation by a "dead" colleague! The Pearson's are heading to Malstone Hall, an orphanage with a tragic history of 6 children who died there and the nurse who hung herself out of guilt.
Excellent reading

This is a good adventure with a surprising ending. This is not your run of the mill ghost story but it is a good mystery.

Amazing

So far this series doesn't disappoint! I could not put the book down. The only draw back is the shortness of the story! Amy Cross is an excellent story teller.
