Closing on Lynx (Royal Bastards MC: Northern, Ontario): A Motorcycle Club Romance

Rate this book
Life is supposed to give you lemons to make lemonade, but what happens when those lemons are rotten?

For Jessikah Gorman, this is the hand she has been dealt. Working from home should keep her safe from the monsters that hunt her, until she gets recognized..

Fifty-year-old Paul “Lynx” Galant, President of the Northern Ontario Chapter of the Royal Bastards Motorcycle Club, has loyal club members and many ladies at the ready, but he’s tired of it all.

Hoping to do some upgrades to his small, rural cottage means he needs to refinance, but how was he to know an angel looking younger than her years could reignite his spark while she helps him find him a lender?

Despite insisting she only does business over the phone, the brave man struts into her home filled with confidence. Fabulously curvy and full of sass, Jessikah’s history has her fearful of her growing emotions toward Paul.

Will closing on Lynx’s home be the beginning of the relationship she never dreamed possible, or will that door slam shut permanently when her past comes knocking?

This is my first time reading a book by Ja LaFrance, and was not my usual go to style of book.
I love MC, which this is, but the angst, and grittiness just wasn't there for me, I am afraid. I liked the story, I just didn't love it and would have loved to give it way more stars than I did.
When Jessikah meets Lynx, they both had that insta attraction vibe going on, but with Jessikah hiding from her past, she doubted herself and her feelings towards Lynx. Now this was ok for a start to a story of an MC president meeting a woman and deciding he wanted her....all of her! but then the story for me took a nose dive.
He brought her to the club and as he wanted to introduce her to his MC mates and get to know more about her and her past history with her ex. He got Neo to to do a background check on Jessikah. What that info uncovered was that she had changed her name to hide from her ex, but Neo decided to have it out with her, citing she may be a danger to the club. Whilst this is going on, what is Lynx doing... reading the info given to him about her past. So, for me the story didn't meld very well. He was sitting at the bar and didn't notice that she got up and left with her friend, Tina and her husband???? Really! Nope, that didn't sound right to me, and the story just went down hill more from there. How can you get caught by your ex and his gang, put up with r&pe, s&xual abuse and watching Tina's husband being gunned down and come out of all that without too much trauma? There is mention of them both going to therapy but not really enough. Even Tina, her friend doesn't really appear to be cut up with her husband having being murdered....
It also didn't sit well with me when Tina finds herself pregnant by Brownie, one of the MC members...like only weeks (bit hard to establish a timeline really) after she buries her husband??!!
Ok so I wont go more into the story and spoil it for the readers who do like this book more than me but I have to say it also ended abruptly for me on a ? cliffy as there were some unresolved parts near the end that needed explaining more. Hopefully these are in the next book, as I definitely need to know where this story is going....So yeh I will read book 2 of the Royal Bastards MC: Northern, Ontario. when it is released. I just need to know!! haha....

**Jessikah/Lynx**

*Closing on Lynx* is the first book in the Royal Bastards MC: Northern Ontario series. The story of Jessikah and Lynx is not an easy journey to their happily ever after. Jessikah is in hiding from her abusive ex-husband and has spent several years building a successful home business, becoming known as the most reliable and sought-after person in her field.

Jessikah first meets Paul “Lynx,” the president of the Royal Bastards MC, when he seeks to upgrade his cottage. From their first interaction, Lynx realizes that Jessikah is different from all the other women he has encountered; he believes she is the one he has been searching for all this time. However, Lynx suspects that Jessikah is hiding something, and his curiosity leads him to investigate her past. Unknowingly, this exploration uncovers cracks within his motorcycle club and exposes betrayals that will ultimately bring Jessikah’s past back to haunt her, causing pain and trauma for both her and others involved.

This emotional journey is marked by both ups and downs. The author has done an amazing job of crafting a world where readers can feel the characters’ pain and the struggles they face as they deal with trauma and fear during the healing process.

The story is highly engaging from the first page to the last, making it hard to put down as I found myself wanting to know how it ends in one sitting. I am eagerly looking forward to the next book, which will continue with the same MC but focus on a different chapter.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This one was just meh for me. I had a hard time liking quite a few of the MC members. Then there was Jessikah.I get she went through hell every freaking day, and that's why I don't believe she would fall for someone just from their voice. Then Paul/Lynx shows up at her house, and she has no problem being around him. I call bullshit. There is no way that would happen with everything Jessikah had been through. Then, fast forward to when Jessikah and Tina are taken in Tina's house. Tina's husband is killed, and the two women are brutally assaulted and beaten for hours. Then, they are rescued and taken to the hospital. While in the hospital it is said that Jessikah has her leg in a cast and arm in a sling and Tina has one arm in a cast and the other one in a brace with screws holding her fingers in place. Ok,you with me so far? It never says how long they were in the hospital for, but it didn't seem like it was that long. When they get released and go to Jessikah's house, they are both walking without any problems because I figure Jessikah doesn't have a cast on her leg anymore and no sling for her arm either. Tina doesn't have a cast or the brace and screws on her arms and hand. Did I miss something? There is no way that shit would be gone. My other problem was that Jessikah was said to have brown hair, but then she had blonde hair. That was a bit confusing. Also, there were quite a few misspelled words. I feel this could have been such a great book, but it just didn't work for me.

This is the first in a new series, and this is a new author to me.
Jessika has had a tough life, and is now content working from her home, while Lynx is the president of his MC, and he wants to upgrade his small rural cottage, and needs to refinance, which brings him coming to see Jessika. There is an instant mutual attraction between these two.
I struggled with some aspects of this storyline, which could be just the authors writing style!
This is a good story which is action packed, with loyalty, found family, friendships, emotions, secret identity, abuse, trauma, danger, suspense, intrigue, angst, and love, which leads to an enjoyable, twisted, and unpredictable page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this author whose work I recommend.

Closing on Lynx is book one of the Royal Bastards MC: North Bay, Ontario Series.

Jessikah goes through a lot through this book. But even after everything she goes through she does come out the other side very strong. This is due in part to her support group she surrounds herself with. While Lynx does have his dumb moments, he does help Jessikah and stand by her through everything she goes through.

The book started out really good, but the ending did feel a bit rushed.

Great characters and written in the form of the RBMC style. Plot was interesting and had a whole lot going on. As the trigger warning states there is rape and abuse as part of the content but this is not by the MC members they are the heroes in this case. Twisted and goes off in different directions at times and it seemed to jump a bit. I did struggle a bit with some aspects of the story but this may just be the authors style as I've not read her before. All in all I enjoyed reading this.

It was pretty good but there's a few spots where I was aggravated about cause it was like nobody had a brain 2 get shit done fast instead of screwing around and putting off what they needed 2 get done. There's a few unanswered questions especially about the ending but overall it was ok.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was extra fun for me as a Canadian to get some Royal Bastards here! This read was heavier than I expected with some pretty dark parts. I enjoyed the characters but I didn't always feel like their reactions made sense at times. Overall, good read.

It was an okay story. It felt rushed, with not a lot of depth. No real connections between main characters. It ends on la cliffhanger. I will read the next book. It's not out yet, so wait to read this book.

Jessikah finds freedom from abuse and meets Paul. When her abuser finds her, things go bad, fast. The descriptions are graphic, the story intense.

An engaging read that hops a little round. An intense story with a lot of triggers. A woman with a strong support group to help her trough her Trauma.

Ja LaFrance is a new to me author who was recommended to me. And I am glad I tried this book!

While there are some dark themes, it wasn't too much for me.

Jessikah and Lynx are from two different worlds.

Her the battered woman hiding from her ex and him the strong MC Pres.

When they meet, something makes the two of them realize something about the other. Even over the phone.

I enjoyed this story and will read Ja's work again!
