Home is where the technologically advanced battle station is…Dex Drennum escaped to the Arizona wilderness. With his 4x4 and some rock hounding for geodes, he could feel the overwhelm of dealing with people bleed slowly out of his body.
Until one rock he cracked open gave him an unexpected reward. Not beautiful crystals with cool designs, but a woman. And what a woman she was.
An alien shapeshifter, having crashed on Earth. And she needed help. To get home. To the stars. Where her duty as a high-level operative could save lives.
The catch? She needed a symbiont, a person to connect with her. Without that, she’d never survive the trip back to where she belonged. To the space station headquarters of the remnants of her people, who were fighting a desperate war against a tyrannical space collective.
What’s a guy to do when a hot alien woman who can take the form of anyone or anything asks for help or she’ll die? It depends on if he can trust that their “connection” won’t turn him into some kind of mindless slave.
Of course, Dex can think of worse situations.
this space adventure with a woman who can literally be any woman contains spicy scenes and harem elements. If multiverse-hopping hotties that have nothing against activities that warm them in the cold of space aren’t your thing, this series might not be for you. If, on the other hand, a little alien action while facing dangers that get the blood pumping is your thing, click the buy button and get swept away in a story that can be described as “James Bond in space, but spicier.”
Phil Aerix is a genius. As with other titles a tight, detail rich plot allied with detailed setting and rich characters to begin a series . Highly recommend
Being a new fan to Phil Aerix's writings, I scooped up Quantum Operative, eager to see him flex his creative muscles in space-- He did NOT disappoint. From the beginning of this book, he had an uphill climb against multiple sci-fi space genre paradigms, stereotypes, and 'been there, done that' cliche's that he not only navigated more deftly than the Kessel Run, but was able to make light of typical science fiction depictions as a comparison in his world.
Dex is a rock seeking adventurer who stumbles upon an alien chrysalis in the desert, only to discover a shapeshifting super space operative who has been dormant for over a century. Besides the allure, catty, and open minded attitude towards being intimate, her personality, attraction, and closeness quickly grows on Dex who then assists 'Mina' in her desire to get back home.
Once gone from Earth, Dex learns so much more about how small our world is, but how intertied it is in the galactic picture, and not only stays on with Mina, (amid a harem cast of exotic space ladies), but goes on to have his own adventures, forging a new path for himself, that I'm sure will carry throughout another great and epic series.
The imagination of his world building is 'stellar', and the diversity of personalities, looks, and flirtatious inhibitions of his nearly all female society, had me turning the page. Not just for the steamy intermissions, but because the characters were likeable and you wanted them all to succeed.
If you're looking for something new, something that is an easy read that doesn't get too technical, and is digestible with the right amount of space fighting, stealth, subterfuge, and spice with hot multicolored space women, then give Quantum Operative a chance. You'll be glad you did.
I DNF this book around page 200, when the MC started to "white knight" to an alien race and people he's just met.
The MC is a guy that apparently inherited enough money from his parents that he can work when he wants to, and on the first day, he's off looking for geodes in some woodland area. One rock he cracks open has this goop inside that turns into a stupefyingly attractive alien woman. He helps her by becoming her symbiote, which will provide her physical closeness to recharge her. Of course, nothing recharges like sex, so they are soon getting down and dirty.
The woman can shapeshift into any body, so she starts by manifesting into women she's seen him looking at. They end up luring the neighbor's college age daughter into a threesome, but when they leave for the alien space station, they leave her behind. The ship's AI can use an android to get busy with both the alien and the MC, so more sexual hijinks ensue. And getting to the space station leads to more prospective women, since the population is wildly out of balance towards female.
Between tropes I find silly, and the MC trying to white knight, I decided this book just wasn't interesting enough to slog through. Even the multitude of sex scenes in the early parts weren't enough to make it interesting.
This book is long, but it doesn't feel like it. The story and characters are great. I'm not sure how I'm going to feel about a non-squenal series, but I can see it possibly working if the rest of the books are a lot shorter. I personally have trouble keeping my attention on a book that's long and doesn't necessarily have a lot of plot direction. I will definitely read the next one and go from there.
Quantum Operative books will definitely be in my reading list as soon as they appear. A great mix of story and spice. It kept me on my toes from the beginning. Great descriptions of action, but space related and spicy action.
I am really liking his new series. He’s going into a new area that he hasn’t really written about and I’m really liking the sci-fi vibe. I really looking forward to book 2 in the series and you really I really would recommend you checking this out.
Ridiculous and pretty funny, this was an enjoyable read. The main character is a bit of a dork, and a lot of the action is *very* wordy but there's still plenty to like here.
