Demons of Kinzlea #3

The Demon King's Healer

Rate this book
Satella, a centuries-old vampire and skilled healer, has long found her place within the shadowy halls of Ethlow, the Demon King’s estate. Her life is a careful balance between tending to the wounded and finding things to entertain her immortal life. But everything changes when she crosses paths with Astoria, a cunning grim reaper with a penchant for setting traps—and stealing hearts.

Drawn to Astoria’s dark allure, Satella finds herself irresistibly captivated by the reaper. But falling for a bringer of death is far from simple. As Satella navigates the dangerous line between immortality and the inevitability of death, she becomes entangled in more than just matters of the heart. Secrets, betrayals, and deadly schemes threaten not only her life but also the fragile connection she shares with Astoria.

In a world where death lurks around every corner and love seems impossible, Satella and Astoria must confront their deepest fears and desires. Can an immortal vampire find solace in the arms of a reaper, or will their love be consumed by the darkness that surrounds them?

The Demon King’s Healer is a thrilling and seductive tale of forbidden romance, filled with unexpected twists, intense passion, and the quest for acceptance in the unlikeliest of places. Perfect for readers who crave a dark, bisexual love story with danger lurking at every turn.

I received an advanced copy of this book and had the pleasure of reading it prior to release. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters in this book as well as the story. It was intriguing and had the potential to be a 5 star for me. The only problem I found was that, personally, for me, there wasn't enough world building. The information that was given regarding it was limited. Perhaps there is more detail in the other books of this series, but what information I was given tells me that the underworld and the estate could be depicted so beautifully and creatively. The author is clearly talented, and I don't mean this to be a bad review by any means. It is just a personal preference that many may not agree with as the story progressed quickly and smoothly without it.
I enjoyed the flow between the main characters and the side characters. It provided a connection to the other books I haven't read without making it seem like I was missing something to the story. I am intrigued to read the other books of this series and learn the stories behind the side characters.

I was transported to the world of Ethlow on the very first couple of paragraphs. Kind of gave me the “island of misfit toys” vibes but instead of toys, creatures. Demons, vampires, and witches populated the sanctuary of Ethlow, thanks to the Demon King Zathrian. When Satella, a vampire, is trapped by a mysterious uninvited person, that shows up. She’s on a personal mission to find out why, a grim reaper is there. This book takes you on Satella’s journey of finding out why, Astoria, the reaper is there and introduces you to the community of different creatures, that are her friends. Nyri, the demon kings mate, falls ill and it’s up to Satella the healer to save her. She looks towards her friends and her lover to help. Satella has given up hope of saving her friend, Astoria says, “ You matter to your friends, and you matter to this world. You can change the fate of so many lives with the gift you’ve been given”. Satella is hell bent on finding a cure for her friend and exactly why Astoria is there. I would say this book is NOT YA, geared towards more mature readers. 🌶️🌶️🌶️ out 5 spicy. EverEri is a talented writer, and loves what she writes and that’s felt through this book.

Loved every minute of it. I cried towards the end. I was captivated and just had to know what was going to happen so I couldn't put it down until I finished. I loved the obstacles that had to be overcome, and it was interesting finding out all the secrets that were held.
