Scott Smith really nailed it. I enjoyed the first two Corrigan brothers books written by Cotton so much, it was hard to imagine this one measuring up, but it definitely did. I loved book 3 and can hardly wait to get book 4 started in a few minutes.
After publishing his father's first two books, Scott continues the saga!

“Vengeance Wears a Star” by Scott F. Smith is my first experience reading a Western genre novel. It will not be my last. Scott’s debut novel is the third in the Corrigan Brothers series created by Scott’s father, renown and prolific Western novelist Cotton Smith, who passed away in 2015.
It’s apparent that Scott mastered the writing style that Cotton developed, combining vivid action scenes with strong character development, exciting plot twists, and a lyrical style in describing the stunning yet harsh scenery of south Texas. Tension builds as newly named Texas Ranger Holt Corrigan and partner Orion Higbee, accompanied by Tag, Holt’s fearless, adventurous dog, set out on a harrowing journey to track down “The Angel,” a vicious and demented serial killer in the guise of a priest.
The fourth novel in the Corrigan Brothers series, “Cast Asunder,” was released by Wolfpack Publishing just a couple of months later, and is soon to be followed by “Blue Sky Reckoning.” If you’re a fan of exciting Western novels or of fast moving adventure stories, you will love these recent releases by Scott F. Smith. Grab a copy and prepare yourself to be immersed in the culture and the courageous, colorful heroes and despicable villains of the Old American West.
This was a book that keeps your interest trying to figure out the 'who dun it'. It has a thee that shows even the bad guys can become good. It follows one of the Corrigan brothers (Holt) that goes from outlaw after the end of the Civil War to becoming a county sheriff. After a series of brutal murders he is made a Texas Ranger. Keep reading as from here iot just becomes better. I recommend this book for western action readers.
This novel is a great read that I fully enjoyed. The story captures the readers interest and attention from the beginning to the end and also begs for the next installment of the Corrigan Brothers to become available. The characters and relationships with each other are truly enjoyable. Holt and Orion make great partners and enhance the Western action. Can’t wait for book 4!
Find I like these books because of superstition and spiritual twists. A little humor doesn’t hurt either. The quiet acceptance of people is a plus without screaming in your face.
