This retold book for people that is learning English is really awful. I keep thinking: is the original book so bad? It's the forth time that I re-read this book and listen to the MP3. I hope never more read "The Mosquito Coast", because the main character is unbearable, bossy, arrogant, rough... But, thanks God, that read a book with audio is easier than without audio. I hope that audible get to Brazil soon. Here we have amazon, but not yet audible.

Absolutely loved this book! A genius obsessed with his inventions, decides to take his family into South America and falls into mental illness, trying to show primitive men his ice invention, he falls into delusions and the family has to cope in a foreign country. This book is a page turner. I enjoyed this book a lot.

I don't really like this book because as I read it, I didn't feel interested. It reminded me of the movie, Tarzan. At last, the man died because a hawk flew and ate part of his body. After that, I think his family will go back to London and maybe, they will be happy.

What a father! I just wonder why his wife follow him. I think it is written comically, so the ending was shocking for me.
