Twists of Fate: . . . dare to dream!
The woman he thought he knew. The man she couldn't leave. A future neither of them could ever have imagined. After Dr. Maria Grayson took down the Mexican drug lord who wanted her dead, she thought she'd live the rest of her days in peace alongside the fisherman who stole her heart. But when tragedy strikes again, she returns to the small town that gave her shelter in her darkest hour. Unburdened of her old alias, Maria hopes to find acceptance for her true self... especially from the hunky surgeon who fills her fantasies.
Even after all her lies, Dr. Joe "Barly" Bartholomew can't get his mind off the mysterious woman with two names. And he can't help admire the grand entrance she makes when she rushes into a burning church to save multiple children. When the now-fatherless siblings end up in his hospital's burn ward, his frequent visits with the kids only make him fall deeper in love with the woman who saved their lives.
But when a crooked agency threatens the children they've grown to love, Maria and Barly must work together to solve a terrifying mystery and secure their second chance at a new beginning.

Fate has rewards
Only in fiction could one woman face unrelenting disaster at every turn. Dr. Maria Grayson survived it all and found a future where normalcy thrived. In doing so, she displayed a strength often ignored in American society. Author Mary Jane Forbes did a masterful job of mixing romance with suspense into a trilogy that was a pleasure to read. Dare to Dream was uplifting and engaging. I recommend it to other mysterious/romance readers but urge you to start at the beginning with The Fisherman.
